Dear friends, our journey through Thailand continues. We set off from the Bay View Cafe and headed towards the Magical Mountain View resort. The journey took around 2 hours and 15 minutes, bringing us right to the edge of the incredible Khao Sok National Park. I’ll be sharing a full blog soon about our adventures inside the park itself.
As for the Magical Mountain View Resort, it truly lives up to its name. Perched high in the mountains, the setting is absolutely breathtaking. Stepping onto the property felt like walking into Jurassic Park... in the best possible way.
What makes it even more amazing is how affordable it is. You honestly wouldn’t find anything close to this standard for the same price back in the UK, not even a hostel. The location is spot on, making it the perfect base for exploring the area.
Our room was spacious, more than comfortable for the three of us. We each had our own bed, I had a designated space to work, and the balcony featured a large jacuzzi-style bathtub with mountain views.
Once we settled in (and you know me—I’m always thinking about food), we headed up to the on-site restaurant. It’s open-plan, beautifully breezy, and offers stunning panoramic views. The menu was absolutely massive, we were spoilt for choice!
Naturally, I had to order a fresh coconut. If you’ve been following along on this Thailand adventure, you’ll know it’s my little ritual to have one everywhere I go. There’s just nothing like the taste of chilled coconut water straight from the fruit, bottle versions don’t even come close. Yum!
After dinner, we headed back to our room to get some rest and prepare for the adventures ahead.
Back in the room, I got a bit of work done, had a refreshing shower, and settled in for a great night’s sleep. I absolutely love waking up to natural sunlight, and in October, the sunrise here is just after 6am, which feels perfectly timed.
We got up and headed back to the restaurant for breakfast. In the daylight, the view could truly be appreciated, and my word, it was absolutely breathtaking. The way the morning mist rises and the clouds drift gently below the mountain peaks is nothing short of magical; it feels like something out of a dream.
We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast, and I have to say, the spread was seriously impressive. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: being vegan in Thailand is an absolute breeze. With the abundance of fresh tropical fruit, vegetables, tofu, and beancurd, I’m always spoilt for choice. Having grown up in Asia, this is exactly the kind of food that suits my palate best; it always feels like coming home.
After breakfast, we made our way down to the pool. I believe the restaurant is actually the highest point in the resort, perched up for maximum views. The staff here are incredibly kind and always happy to offer a golf cart lift if the hills feel a bit too steep, though it’s worth noting that this resort definitely isn’t wheelchair accessible.
We chose to walk down to the pool and figured we might hitch a ride back up later, but in the end, I enjoyed the stroll both ways. The view from the pool, just like every corner of this resort, is like something straight off a postcard. Absolutely stunning.
This was actually the first place on our Thailand trip where I was allowed to use my drone. Of course, I contacted reception and management beforehand and submitted my drone pilot license, insurance, and official Thailand permit.
If you have a drone, I highly recommend bringing it here, the footage you can capture is absolutely unreal. I had the chance to use mine several times over the next few days, including at a gorgeous hidden gem café (you know I have a knack for finding those!) and later at the breathtaking 500 Rai Resort inside Khao Sok National Park.
If photography or videography is your thing, a drone really elevates the experience. I use the DJI Mini 2 SE, which has been perfect for travel. That said, always be responsible: make sure you have the correct license and insurance, follow both local laws and the specific policies of each place you visit, and always respect the privacy of others around you.
We spent most of the day simply enjoying the pool and the peaceful surroundings of the resort, because let’s be honest, as much as I love adventure, a holiday isn’t complete without some proper relaxation. It was pure bliss sipping mocktails and cocktails by the pool, chatting, reading, and catching up on life. This was exactly the reset I needed.
Once the sun had set, I squeezed in a bit of work, enjoyed a lovely dinner, had a refreshing shower, and called it a night, ready for what tomorrow had in store. We were off to a beautiful little hidden gem café with a twist... but you’ll have to tune in to my next blog to find out where it is!
If you’d like to book your stay at the Magical Mountain View Resort, perfectly perched at the gateway to Khao Sok National Park, click here! You won’t be disappointed. It’s every bit as stunning as it looks. One of the perks of this resort being tucked up in the mountains is that it’s noticeably cooler than the typical Thai beach climate, perfect if the heat tends to wear you out (though personally, I adore the heat!).
Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed this stunning resort in the mountains of Thailand. Until next time, Vegoutt, everybody! 🌿✈️🌏
