Hi Friends
After a tiring and busy Ramadan Fest and before the 9-day holiday ends, I and my friend wanted to escape from the crowds of Istanbul that were covered in the media. For a while, the weather in Istanbul has been warm during the day and cold in the evening. The weather on the weekend seems sunny and around 22°C. Even though I had got tired visiting relatives and friends during the holiday, it would not be possible to stay at home on then weekend when the weather was this nice.
Merhaba Arkadaşlar
Yorucu ve yoğun geçen bir Ramazan Bayramı’ndan sonra, 9 günlük tatil bitmeden, arkadaşımla İstanbul’un medyaya konu olan kalabalığından kaçmak istedik. İstanbul’da havalar bir süredir gündüzleri sıcak, akşamları ise soğuk oluyor. Haftasonu hava 22°C civarında ve güneşli görünüyordu. Bayramda akraba ve arkadaş ziyaretleri nedeniyle çok gezip yorulsam da havanın böyle güzel olduğu bir haftasonu evde oturmak olmazdı.
While my friend and I were having a drink and chatting at a cafe on Friday evening, we made plan for Saturday. We wanted to go somewhere where we could rest our head, be in touch with nature and get plenty of oxygen on Saturday. For sure, the first place that came to our mind, our first favorite place, was Esenceli Village in the Şile district of Istanbul. Esenceli Village is an indispensable place for nature activities as it is intertwine with the forest and dam-lake.
Cuma akşamı arkadaşımla, bir kafede birşeyler içip sohbet ederken Cumartesi günü için plan yaptık. Cumartesi günü kafa dinleyip, doğayla iç içe olacağımız ve bol bol oksijen alabileceğimiz bir yere gitmek istedik. Tabi ki aklımıza ilk gelen yer, birinci favori yerimiz, İstanbul’un Şile ilçesinde bulunan Esenceli Köyü oldu. Esenceli Köyü hem yakın hem de orman ve baraj gölü ile iç içe olması nedeniyle doğa aktiviteleri için bizim için vazgeçilmez bir yer.
I met my friend before afternoon on Saturday. He had put the table, chair, samovar and other things in the car before I arrived. Then, we went shopping to the market to buy the things for the barbecue without loss of time. We set off around 12:30. Since Esenceli Village has many shores to Ömerli Dam, we wanted to go to a different location this time. After about 30 minutes drive, we arrived at Esenceli Village. Before the entrance to the village, we turned left into the forest.
Cumartesi öğleden önce arkadaşımla buluştum. O, ben gelmeden önce masa, sandalye, semaveri ve diğer malzemeleri arabaya koymuştu. Daha sonra vakit kaybetmeden mangal malzemelerini almak için markete alışverişe gittik. Saat 12:30 gibi yola çıktık. Esenceli Köyü'nün Ömerli Barajı'na birçok kıyısı olduğu için bu kez farklı bir konuma gitmek istedik. Yaklaşık 30 dakika sonra Esenceli Köyü'ne varmıştık. Köyün içine girmeden soldan ormanın içine doğru döndük.
We went as far as the car could go. There were many people and families who came into the forest and parked their caravans or cars. After parking the car in a proper place, we started to explore the environment to find a place to settle. Having decided on a place with the most shade among the trees with a view of the dam lake, we brought the materials, foods and drinks from the car to here. We placed the table, chairs and other things. My friend lit the samovar beforehand so that the tea could brew for a long time. The place we chose and its view was like this. I then walked around and took a few photos. We last came to Esenceli Village in February 2024. The occupancy level of the dam has increased even more compared to February. Nowadays, the average occupancy level of dams in Istanbul is 82%.
Arabanın gidebildiği yere kadar gittik. Ormanın içine kadar gelip karavanını veya arabasını koyan birçok kişi ve aile vardı. Arabayı uygun bir yere park ettikten sonra oturacağımız bir yer bulmak için etrafı keşfetmeye başladık. Baraj gölü manzarası ve ağaçların içinde en gölge olan bir yerde karar kıldıktan sonra arabadan malzeme, yiyecek ve içecekleri buraya taşıdık. Masa, sandalye ve diğer eşyalarımızı yerleştirdik. Arkadaşım önden semaveri yaktık ki çay uzun süre demlensin diye. Seçtiğimiz yer ve manzarası bu şekildeydi. Ben daha sonra etrafı gezip birkaç fotoğraf çektim. Esenceli Köyü'ne en son Şubat 2024'de gelmiştik. Şubat ayına göre barajın su seviyesi daha da artmış. Bugünlerde İstanbul’da barajların ortalama doluluk seviyesi %82.
After sitting and resting for a while, we slowly started to light the barbecue fire. We ate, then we chatted and drank the tea that had been brewing in the samovar for hours. After the barbecue and the tea, I walked around to explore the area where we were settled, and took some photos. There were many available places around to have a picnic.
Biraz oturup dinlendikten sonra yavaştan mangal ateşini yakmaya başladık. Yemek faslını tamamladıktan sonra semaverde saatlerce demlenmiş bekleyen çayı içip muhabbet ettik. Yemeğin ve çayın üstüne ben oturduğumuz yerin etrafını keşfetmek için yürüyüş yapıp birkaç fotoğraf çektim. Etrafta piknik yapılacak birçok yer vardı.
When I came back, my friend had brewed another tea. The weather was slowly getting colder, but we didn't light a fire this time. After sitting for another hour, we gathered what we brought and took them to the car. It wasn't dark yet. We wanted to take a walk on a path in the forest that we didn't know where it led.
Geri döndüğümde arkadaşım bir çay daha demlemişti. Hava yavaş yavaş soğumaya başlıyordu, ama bu kez ateş yakmamıştık. Bir saat daha oturduktan sonra eşya ve malzemeleri toplayıp arabaya götürdük. Hava daha kararmamıştı. Ormanın içinde nereye gittiğini bilmediğimiz bir yolda yürüyüş yapalım istedik.
We did not walk till the end of this path, but we think that it heads to different shores of the dam. After about a 10-minute walk, we turned back the car and headed home. Next time we come, we will go till the end of this path and see whether it leads to different places. All photos in this post belong to me. Thank you for reading.
Bu yolun sonuna kadar yürümedik ama bu yolun barajın farklı kıyılarına çıktığını düşünüyoruz. Yaklaşık 10 dakikalık bir yürüyüşten sonra arabaya geri döndük ve eve doğru yola çıktık.
