I can say that I have started writing my travel post series one by one. Instead of accumulating my travel posts and writing them after the summer, I plan to write them whenever I have time. I write about my three-part day trip to Bursa in my previous travel post series. Today, I have started a new travel post series consisting of two posts about a short trip to the south of Türkiye. The first part of this short travel post series is about Gönen, a small district of Isparta. For those who don't know, Isparta is located in the south of Turkiye, adjacent to Antalya, and is one of the smallest provinces of Turkiye in terms of land and population.

Gezi yazısı serilerime yavaştan başladım diyebilirim. Gezi yazılarımı biriktirip yaz mevsiminden sonra yazmak yerine zaman buldukça yazmayı düşünüyorum. Bir önceki gezi yazısı serimde, üç bölümden oluşan günü birlik Bursa gezimden bahsetmiştim. Bugün, Türkiye’nin güneyine yaptığım kısa bir gezi ile ilgili, iki yazıdan oluşacak yeni bir gezi yazısı serisine başlıyorum. Bu kısa gezi yazısı serimin birinci bölümü, Isparta’nın küçük bir ilçesi olan Gönen ile ilgilidir. Bilmeyenler için belirteyim, Isparta Türkiye’nin güneyinde yer alan, Antalya’ya komşu ve Türkiye’nin yüz ölçüm ve nüfus olarak en küçük illerinden biridir.
I can say that my plan to go to Isparta happened very quickly. I talked to my university friend who lives there from time to time, but we hadn’t seen each other for many years. We made plans in June to meet in July when we were both free. I also wanted to take a short vacation and see different places after my Bursa trip. I also had another friend who lived in a city close to Isparta. I thought I would see him after being in Isparta.
Isparta’ya gitme planım çok hızlı oldu diyebilirim. Orada yaşayan üniversite arkadaşımla ara ara konuşuyorduk ama uzun yıllardır birbirimizi görmemiştik. İkimizin de müsait olduğu Temmuz ayında görüşmek için Haziran ayında plan yapmıştık. Ben de Bursa gezimden sonra kısa bir tatil yapmak ve farklı yerler görmek istiyordum. Ayrıca, Isparta’ya yakın bir ilde yaşayan başka bir arkadaşım daha vardı. Isparta’dan sonra onu da görmüş olurum diye düşündüm.
Since I like to travel by intercity bus at night, I bought a ticket for Thursday evening. After preparing a small bag, I got on the bus from the terminal at around 12:00 am. My route was Gebze-İzmit-Sakarya-Bozöyük-Afyon-Isparta. To go to Isparta, you need to take a bus to Antalya. I don’t know if there is a direct bus to Isparta. The last stop was at the Afyon exit at around 7:00 in the morning. I called my friend here and asked him to pick me up from the Isparta bus station.
Gece şehirlerarası otobüs yolculuğunu sevdiğim için Perşembe akşamına bilet aldım. Küçük bir çanta hazırladıktan sonra, saat gece 12 gibi terminalden otobüse bindim. Güzargahım sırasıyla Gebze-İzmit-Sakarya-Bozöyük-Afyon-Isparta şeklindeydi. Isparta’ya gitmek için Antalya’ya giden otobüslere binmek gerekiyor. Direk Isparta’ya giden otobüs var mı bilmiyorum. En son sabah saat yedi gibi Afyon çıkışında mola verildi. Burada arkadaşıma haber vererek beni Isparta otogardan almasını rica ettim.
I arrived in Isparta about an hour later. My friend was waiting to welcomeme. After chatting for a while, we set off towards the Gönen town of Isparta. After having breakfast in Gönen, I took some photos and then rested in a place like a village coffee house. The center of Gönen is like this; I can say it is a small, quiet and peaceful town-like place. It is mostly populated by older people. My friend lives here because he is a civil servant, but he does not plan to stay for a long time; because Gönen does not appeal to young people.
Yaklaşık bir saat sonra Isparta’ya varmıştım. Arkadaşım beni karşılamak için bekliyordu. Ayaküstü biraz muhabbet ettikten sonra Isparta’nın Gönen Beldesi’ne doğru yola çıktık. Gönen’de kahvaltı yaptıktan sonra ben biraz fotoğraf çektim ve sonra da köy kahvesi gibi bir yerde dinlendim. Gönen’in merkezi bu şekilde; küçük, sessiz ve sakin kasaba gibi bir yer diyebilirim. Genelde yaşlı nüfus var. Arkadaşım memur olduğu için burada yaşıyor ama çok da uzun süreli kalmayı düşünmüyor; çünkü Gönen genç bir insana hitap etmiyor.
After breakfast and resting, my friend started to show me around Gönen. First, we visited the Yunus Emre Tomb in Pazar Neighborhood, located among pine forests. It is believed that the graves of Yunus Emre, his teacher Tapduk Emre, Buharalı Sinan Efendi and Şeyh Sadettin Efendi are here. My friend also stated that it was not certain that these tombs belonged to these people.
Kahvaltı ve dinlenme işlerini tamamladıktan sonra arkadaşım bana Gönen’i gezdirmeye başladı. İlk olarak çam ormanlarının arasında kalan, Pazar Mahallesi’ndeki Yunus Emre Turbesi’ni ziyaret ettik. Yunus Emre, hocası Tapduk Emre, Buharalı Sinan Efendi ve Şeyh Sadettin Efendi’nin mezarlarının burada olduğu rivayetine inanılmaktadır. Arkadaşım da bu türbelerin bu kişilere ait olduğunun kesin olmadığını belirtti.
Having visited the tomb where Yunus Emre's grave is rumored to be, we went to Gönen's Saklı Göl (Hidden Lake) pond. This pond is used for irrigation for agriculture. There are pergola-like places to sit around it. Since it is summer, the water has receded a lot. I was said that it is very crowded on summer evenings and especially on weekends. There are also places where you can bring your own chairs and table and have a barbecue around it.
Yunus Emre’nin mezarının bulunduğu rivayet edilen türbeyi gezdikten sonra Gönen’in Saklı Göl adındaki göletine gittik. Bu gölet tarım için sulmada kullanılıyormuş. Etrafında oturulacak çardak tarzı yerler var. Yaz mevsimi olması nedeniyle su çok çekilmiş. Yaz akşamları ve özellikle haftasonları burası çok kalabalık oluyormuş. Kendi sandalye ve masanızı getirip etrafında mangal yapabileceğiniz yerler de var.
Taking a few photos at Saklı Göl, we went to the other pond close to Saklı Göl. This is a relatively smaller pond. There are pergolas built by the municipality around it. People come here for breakfast and barbecue in the evening. I think it would be more beautiful if there were more trees around it. For those who live in the city like me, these places seem very lonely and quiet. It is a perfect place to relax; but, I think it would be boring in the future.
Saklı Göl’de birkaç fotoğraf çektikten sonra Saklı Göl’e yakın mesafede olan diğer gölete gittik. Burası nispeten daha küçük bir gölet. Etrafında belediyenin yaptığı çardaklar var. Buraya da sabah kahvaltı ve akşam mangal yakmak için insanlar geliyormuş. Etrafı biraz daha ağaçlandırılırsa daha güzel olur diye düşünüyorum. Benim gibi şehir hayatı yaşayanlar için bu yerler çok ıssız ve sessiz geliyor. Kafa dinlemek için birebir bir yer; ama, sanırım ilerisi sıkıcı olurdu.
After leaving the second pond, we came back to the center of Gönen and sat for a while. It was five o'clock. If you consider the long bus ride, I was tired by the end of the day. Then we set off towards the center of Isparta to go to my friend's house. I didn't have the chance to take many photos in the center of Isparta. To be honest, I didn't see much to take photos of : ) After leaving our stuff at home, my friend and I went to a restaurant to have dinner. İkinci göletten de ayrıldıktan sonra tekrar Gönen’in merkezine gelip biraz oturduk. Saat beş olmuştu. Uzun bir otobüs yolcuğulunu da eklersen günün sonunda artık yorulmuştum. Daha sonra arkadaşımın evine gitmek için Isparta merkeze doğru yola çıktık. Isparta merkezde çok fotoğraf çekebilme imkanım olmadı. Açıkcası, fotoğraf çekecek pek bir şey de göremedim : ) Eşyalarımızı eve bıraktıktan sonra arkadaşımla akşam yemeği yemek için bir restoranta gittik. Türkiye’nin güneyine yaptığım bu kısa gezinin bir sonraki yazısında görüşmek üzere. Bu yazıdaki tüm fotoğraflar bana aittir. Okuduğunuz için teşekkür ederim.
