Over four months have passed since WorldMapPin went live and the current team took over this project and community.
Since that moment we haven't stopped dreaming about making this project better and more valuable for the Hive ecosystem every day. So step by step we keep working on improving our tools and maximizing the overall user experience.
So what happened since our last update in September

Team meetings to collect the latest ideas and prioritize tasks
After collecting all the ideas coming from and after Hivefest, we held a team meeting beginning of October. In this meeting, we updated each team member on the current tasks and discussed ideas to prioritize them. That was important to decide the next steps and to create a roadmap according to the WorldMapPin Plan and Vision.
Those team meetings are important for us, in order to give the chance to each member of the team to share their point of view about the activities carried out by the project and the outcomes of these. For many tasks and steps it's important to look at them from different angles such as IT, user, curation, community management, and finance to be sure we don´t forget anything and know how to prioritize them well.
Also, it makes us feel closer as a team, even though we are located in different cities of the world and it helps us to work hand in hand.
Therefore, we are pleased to tell you about the first updates /tasks, that we already accomplished since then.
Created a guide with rules & suggestions for posting in WorldMapPin Community
For us, it is important, that all of you have the same knowledge and possibilities to position your content within this community following the standards of quality that we seek to ensure following our vision.
So the curation team, with the support of the rest of the team members and collaborators, wrote down some guidelines with all the rules and suggestions, on which you can rely when writing a travel post within the @Worldmappin community. This post details each one of them.
We are very happy with the feedback received from the travel community about this guide. Thanks for all your kind words about it. It´s nice to see how many of you followed not only the rules but also the suggestions and how it helped many of you to get even more visibility, acknowledgment, and value. Now every day the competition to be in the Daily Travel Digest gets harder, and sometimes its tough for us to decide. That is awesome!🤗😎
Removed old coding rules to allow pinning old posts to the map
What we didn´t know at first was that apparently within the code we had implemented some rule, that posts older than 7 days cannot be pinned on the map. We just found out about this matter when @Peakd enabled the map function last month and of course, many travelers (including some uf us) wanted to complete their map by pinning old posts. - but that didn´t work...
We changed that rule now so that old posts or those missing from the map are pinned when they contain a valid code right after they are edited. This means that if you want an old post, that you have not included in the map, to be shown directly from https://worldmappin.com/ you only have to edit that post and include the code with the right location.
We are happy this works now and are already looking forward to seeing all your old pins added to the map, that you maybe always wanted to include but couldn´t over the last years because they were too old or because you didn´t know about the map back then.
Important!
We noticed that some users include more than one pin code in each post using PeakD map location, get code from https://worldmappin.com/, and even travelfeed pin sometimes. This is not necessary, as it makes it difficult to work with our curation tool and sometimes even duplicates the entries on the map. - please avoid that in the future.
If you are writing about a trip with different points of interest, it is advisable to indicate the pin of the most important spot or central location.
Updated automatic comment when including Pin in a post
We have updated the automatic text notification that you get once your post has been added to the map. As there are several ways to pin your post to https://worldmappin.com/ (using the map or PeakD frontend), it seemed unnecessary to explain the pinning process again. Our goal is to have a quick, friendly, clear message and provide the posts map /your users map plus the possibility to join us on Discord.
We are improving this automated message step by step to make it even better and nicer looking over time. Also, the bot now processes new posts in "real time".
This means that:
- There is no longer a delay before the post is pinned to the map
- The same goes for the notification which should happen almost instant
Activated Spanish Discord channel & enable WorldMapPin Emojis
On September 21, the Spanish channel was opened in the “international channels” section of the WorldMapPin Discord.
The channel has been very active both from users who post content in the WorldMapPin community on Hive and from others who have been enthusiastic to start posting their adventures there.
Our vision is that at some point we expand the range of international channels, just as we have done with the Hispanic community same as posting languages in the Community. For now, we have general (English) channel and Spanish channel.
We are looking forward to welcoming you there, getting in touch, exchanging ideas and experiences, and of course answering your questions!
In addition, our team has included 4 new emojis with the WorldMapPin logo in different colors, one of these being the replica of the WorldMapPin physical sticker that we will try to continue distributing soon among the users of the platform.
Enabled PeakD Snaps in WorldMapPin community
Using the “snaps” tab within the community, you can interact on the WorldMapPin feed about travel-related content, these snaps will also be featured on your personal feed.
Through this feature, we plan to inform users of our Daily Travel Digest and make it easier for travelers to write and check out snaps made about travels like sharing highlights during their trips.
Updated PeakD Badge
A few days ago our PeakD badge still wasn't displayed correctly in the user's profile, so we have updated the color palette to make it much easier to identify it.
We have also managed to recover the lost badge for those users who have (accidentally) deleted it, as long as they fulfill the requirement to be featured in our Daily Travel Digest. For any questions about it, contact our team on Discord channel.
Winter challenge is coming! 😃😎💃
And finally... we are very excited to announce our very first community contest, a challenge that will be rewarded with great prizes, such as the great WorldMapPin sweater that we will send to the lucky winner.
We can't reveal the details yet, except that of course it will be about travel and winter and it will be open to all Hive users.
More details will be revealed soon, but we are dying to share this great idea with all of you!

Han pasado más de cuatro meses desde que WorldMapPin se puso en marcha y el equipo actual se hizo cargo de este proyecto y de la comunidad.
Desde ese momento no hemos dejado de soñar día a día con hacer este proyecto mejor y más valioso para el ecosistema Hive. Así que paso a paso seguimos trabajando para mejorar nuestras herramientas y maximizar la experiencia general de los usuarios.

Reuniones de equipo para recopilar las últimas ideas y priorizar areas
Después de recopilar todas las ideas surgidas durante y después del Hivefest, mantuvimos una reunión de equipo a principios de octubre. En esta reunión, pusimos al día a cada miembro del equipo sobre las tareas actuales y debatimos ideas para priorizarlas. Esto fue importante para decidir nuestros próximos pasos y crear una hoja de ruta de acuerdo con el Plan y la Visión de WorldMapPin.
Esas reuniones de equipo son importantes para nosotros, para dar la oportunidad a cada miembro del equipo de compartir su punto de vista sobre las actividades llevadas a cabo por el proyecto y los resultados obtenidos. Para muchas tareas y etapas es importante verlas desde distintos ángulos, como el informático, el de los usuarios, el de la curación, el de la gestión de la comunidad y el financiero, para asegurarnos de no olvidar nada y saber priorizarlas adecuadamente.
Además, nos hace sentirnos más unidos como equipo, aunque estemos en distintas ciudades del mundo, y nos ayuda a trabajar codo con codo.
Por lo tanto, nos complace contarte las primeras actualizaciones/tareas que realizamos desde entonces.
Creación de una guía con normas y sugerencias para publicar en la Comunidad WorldMapPin
Para nosotros es importante que todos tengan el mismo conocimiento y posibilidades de posicionar su contenido dentro de esta comunidad, siguiendo los estándares de calidad que buscamos asegurar, según nuestra visión.
Por ello el equipo de curación, con el apoyo del resto de miembros del equipo y colaboradores, redactó unas pautas, con todas las normas y sugerencias, en las que te puedes basar a la hora de escribir un post de viajes dentro de la comunidad @Worldmappin. En este post se detallan cada una de ellas.
Estamos muy contentos con los comentarios recibidos por la comunidad de viajeros sobre esta guía. Gracias por todas las amables palabras al respecto. Es agradable ver cómo muchos de ustedes han seguido, no sólo las reglas, sino también las sugerencias y cómo les ha ayudado a muchos a conseguir aún más visibilidad, reconocimiento y valor. Cada día es más difícil competir por aparecer en el Daily Travel Digest, y a veces nos resulta difícil decidirnos. ¡Es fantástico! 🤗😎
Eliminación de antiguas reglas de código para permitir incluir publicaciones antiguas en el mapa
Lo que no sabíamos al principio era que, aparentemente, en el código habíamos implementado una regla según la cual las entradas con más de 7 días de antigüedad no se podían insertar en el mapa. Nos enteramos de este asunto cuando @Peakd habilitó la función de mapa el mes pasado y, por supuesto, muchos viajeros (incluidos algunos de nosotros) quisieron completar su mapa anclando posts antiguos. - Pero eso no funcionó...
Ahora hemos cambiado esa regla para que los posts antiguos, o los que faltan en el mapa, se fijen cuando contengan un código válido justo después de ser editados. Esto significa que si quieres que un post antiguo, que no has incluido en el mapa, se muestre directamente desde https://worldmappin.com/ sólo tienes que editar ese post e incluir el código con la ubicación correcta.
Estamos contentos de que esto funcione ahora y ya estamos deseando ver todos tus antiguos pines añadidos al mapa, esos que quizás siempre quisiste incluir pero no pudiste en los últimos años, porque eran demasiado antiguos o porque no conocías el mapa por aquel entonces.
¡Importante!
Nos hemos dado cuenta de que algunos usuarios incluyen más de un código con el pin en cada publicación, utilizando la localización del mapa en PeakD, obteniendo el código en https://worldmappin.com/ e incluso, a veces, mediante el pin en travelfeed. Esto no es necesario, ya que dificulta el trabajo con nuestra herramienta de curación y a veces, incluso, duplica las entradas en el mapa. - Por favor, evitar esto a partir de ahora, es suficiente con incluirlo de una sola de las maneras.
Si estás escribiendo sobre un viaje con diferentes puntos de interés, es aconsejable indicar el pin del punto más importante o de la ubicación más céntrica.
Actualización del comentario automático al incluir un Pin en un post
Hemos actualizado la notificación automática de texto que recibes una vez que tu post ha sido añadido al mapa. Como hay varias maneras de anclar tu post a https://worldmappin.com/ (usando el mapa o el frontend de PeakD), parecía innecesario explicar el proceso de pinear otra vez. Nuestro objetivo es tener un mensaje rápido, amigable y claro, que proporcione el mapa de la publicación/usuario y la posibilidad de unirse a nosotros en Discord.
Estamos mejorando este mensaje automatizado paso a paso, para hacerlo aún mejor y más vistoso con el tiempo. Además, ahora el bot procesa los nuevos mensajes en "tiempo real".
Esto significa que:
- Ya no hay un retraso antes de que el post se fije en el mapa.
- Lo mismo ocurre con la notificación, que debería ser casi instantánea.
Activación del canal de Discord en español y habilitar los Emojis de WorldMapPin
El 21 de septiembre se abrió el canal en español en la sección «canales internacionales» del Discord de WorldMapPin.
El canal ha estado muy activo, tanto por parte de los usuarios que publican contenido en la comunidad de WorldMapPin en Hive, como por parte de otros, que se han mostrado entusiasmados por empezar a publicar sus aventuras aquí.
Nuestra visión es que en algún momento ampliemos el abanico de canales internacionales, igual que hemos hecho con la comunidad hispana y la publicación de otros idiomas dentro la Comunidad. Por ahora, tenemos el canal general (inglés) y el canal en español.
Esperamos poder darte la bienvenida allí, mantenernos en contacto, intercambiar ideas, experiencias y, por supuesto, responder a tus preguntas.
Además, nuestro equipo ha incluido 4 nuevos emojis en diferentes colores con el logo de WorldMapPin, siendo uno de ellos la réplica de la pegatina física de WorldMapPin, la cual intentaremos seguir distribuyendo próximamente entre los usuarios de la plataforma.
Habilitado PeakD Snaps en la comunidad WorldMapPin
A través de la pestaña "snaps" en la comunidad, puedes interactuar en el blog de WorldMapPin sobre contenidos relacionados con viajes, estos snaps también aparecerán en tu blog personal.
Con esta función queremos informar a los usuarios de nuestro Daily Travel Digest, permitir que los viajeros escriban y consulten los snaps relacionados con viajes y que compartan lo más destacado de sus travesías.
Badge de PeakD actualizado
Hace unos días nuestro badge en PeakD seguía sin mostrarse correctamente en el perfil de usuario, por lo que hemos actualizado la paleta de colores para que sea mucho más fácil identificarlo.
También hemos conseguido recuperar el badge para aquellos usuarios que lo hayan borrado (accidentalmente), siempre y cuando cumplan con el requisito de aparecer en nuestro Daily Travel Digest. Para cualquier duda al respecto, ponte en contacto con nuestro equipo en Discord channel.
¡Se avecina un reto de invierno! 😃😎💃
Y por último... estamos muy emocionados de anunciar nuestro primer concurso en la comunidad, un reto que será recompensado con grandes premios, como el estupendo suéter de WorldMapPin que enviaremos al afortunado ganador.
