Almost 11 months have passed since the Worldmappin account was made, we went live, and the current team took over this project and community.
Since that moment, we haven't stopped dreaming about making this project better and more valuable for the Hive ecosystem every day. So, step by step, we keep working on improving our tools and maximizing the overall user experience.
As this project is not only running for our community but to improve the whole Hive ecosystem, for us, it is important to give regular updates on the progress and plans.
The Plan --> What happened so far
We are very thankful that our proposal has been funded almost from the beginning. We planned to overtake the project and develop it step by step as described in our proposal called "The re-birth of Pinmapple"
Phase 1: Build new infrastructure, transfer data & rebuild curation team
All the new infrastructure for the map, pinning service, and curation tool has to be created. The servers, domains and subdomains, and other licenses for the server need to be bought and organized. The existing code must be checked, partly updated, and transferred to new servers and backup machines. All this is nearly done as the service is working.
All this infrastructure needs to be tested and managed and some security management by our operation team and the monitoring tools need to be activated and tested. We plan to have a standby system and a staging system for all future developments.
We will restart with the curation for the community. That means we will recruit new curation team members and teach them how to use the curation tool and manage the curation trail. Therefore, we will grow the @worldmappin account with the help of the community, with some more delegation to grow the voting power for quality posts.
We are happy to tell you that all of that has been done as a great team effort within the first month already. Thanks to the core team at the time: @detlev, @lizanomadsoul,@arcange, @ybanezkim26, @louis88, @rivalzzz, @masterswatch, @uniforced, @lauramica, @glecerioberto and @godfish we reached that goal.
After @detlev and @lizanomadsoul took over the project, giving it a new name, domain, proposal, and goals, we started all together to work on keeping our promises right away.
Tech stuff
This tech-related phase 1 was a huge investment in time and communication driven by @arcange and @detlev, who soon got support from @masterswatch and @uniforced on the programming part. Moving an existing project is difficult, and each day we found new topics to be solved.
Everything was organized, coded, and tested so that we could go live at the beginning of June.
Curation Team
@lizanomadsoul and @ybanezkim26 recruited a new curation team within only a few days. @lauramica and @glecerioberto were onboarded to complete the curation and moderation of the community.
The moment @arcange enabled them to use the improved curation tool again, they have ever since managed to curate between 80 and 100 posts a day, write the daily Travel Digest, and manage the community to help onboard and motivate all the community members, and watch and avoid rule-breaking daily.
Delegation rewards
This work, together with the engagement of the community members following the trail and delegating power, has grown the account to 17.500 HP + 207.000 HP in delegation. Our reward program for all the delegators might be another reason to get so much community support.
Phase 2: Maintain the quality of the service
We will ensure the infrastructure works fine, and the curation team will grow to a group of people who ensure the quality stays. The community on Hive and Discord will be managed more actively, and for example, get some more activities, features, structure, and continuous information.
Together with the community and the team of developers, we will create a list of doable new „features and functions “ for the next version of Worldmappin. We like to offer functionality to integrate maps for communities or other apps, and we are even thinking about the direction of our own mobile app.
From the very beginning, we organized team calls to discuss ideas and ongoing tasks together. Like that, we soon had a clear idea of where we were heading. We moved away from just chat and voice to having video meetings with all the members from all around the world. Think about having a team spread from the Philippines, Europe, to Argentina - time zones have to be kept in mind.
Growing the team
Also @ninaeatshere joined in the curation team to secure the content quality, to scout new travel bloggers for the community, support us with Spanish curation and community moderation on Hive and Discord. Also @sunsea helps with some critical testing of the end-user functions
Feedback
By collecting feedback on those ideas and getting more input at the Meetup in Aachen and at Hivefest, we completed that list and made a clear roadmap to follow in the interest of the community.
Phase 3: Develop the project
At Hive Meetup Aachen and Hivefest in Split, @detlev and @lizanomadsoul will talk about the status and development ideas and discuss them with the community. So that step by step we can develop the project further and achieve our big goal, and bring the @worldmappin service to a new level.
In this phase, the clear plan of our „feature and function“ list will be developed and tested to a new level of „pinning“. The development team will start to build new features, test them and we will announce this by the Worldmappin account to the Hive community
We offer the Worldmappin project on GitHub as an open-source project, & we will talk outside the existing Hive community about the project to connect more people to Hive.
It was an honor to represent the project in Aachen and at the Hivefest, and as promised, we discussed all the ideas there as a foundation for our roadmap. The Project was already open source by then.
From this moment on, we have already reached some goals set on our roadmap, such as:
Renovating the frontend of the map:
New look and feel & mobile enhancements: rebuilding the frontend, renovating the code
Making the app as simple to use as possible, especially on the mobile version, adding an overview of the stats, and the personal map
Implementing the changed clustering algorithm
Better speed: Making it way faster (3x faster with 4x the number of pins being displayed)
Peakd integration: Implementing it in Peakd to make it easier to pin your post directly at post creation
Writing guidelines and suggestions for the community:
- To give a transparent and fast overview of the community
- To help new users navigate
- As support for current users to improve their content
Building a curation reward bot:
- To grow together
- Share the love: when we are doing our own curation, you also receive Hive Power
- It is a healthy way to support the Hive Eco System.
The Worldmappin Winter Challenge generating a lot of traffic on the plattform:

Together, we worked out a clear structure of the team around the project led by @detlev, who is taking care of the management together with @lizanomadsoul since day one.

- Activating Spanish Discord channel & enabling Worldmappin emojis

Finances
To an update, of course, there is more than showing what we did. As a funded project, we also want to transparently communicate what we have done with the daily support of 85 HBD so far.
The plan was to do it all on a small budget to see how we could handle this project
Current costs are in that budget just like we planned it. So you see that you can rely on our estimations :)
Now that the base is developed and running stable for almost one year, for future developments, we, of course, will look deeper for further income streams for the project.
Also, we are planning a new Proposal in June 2025 to be able to make Worldmappin even more valuable for the Hive ecosystem.

Of course, our team never stands still, and we already have new ideas for the upcoming year. But of course, this project is not for us but for you! So we are very keen on getting your thoughts and opinions, to know if we are on the right track.

Han pasado casi 11 meses desde que se creó la cuenta Worldmappin, pusimos manos a la obra y el equipo actual se hizo cargo de este proyecto y de la comunidad.
Desde ese momento, no hemos dejado de soñar con hacer que este proyecto sea cada día mejor y más valioso para el Ecosistema Hive. Así que, paso a paso, seguimos trabajando para mejorar nuestras herramientas y maximizar la experiencia general del usuario.
Como este proyecto no sólo va dirigido a nuestra comunidad, sino a mejorar todo el ecosistema Hive, para nosotros es importante ofrecer actualizaciones periódicas sobre los avances y los planes.
El Plan --> Qué pasó hasta ahora
Estamos muy agradecidos de que nuestra propuesta haya recibido financiación casi desde el principio. Teníamos previsto hacernos cargo del proyecto y desarrollarlo paso a paso como se describe en nuestra propuesta llamada "El renacimiento de Pinmapple".
Fase 1: Construir una nueva infraestructura, transferir datos y reconstruir el equipo de curación
Es necesario crear toda la nueva infraestructura para el mapa, el servicio de fijación de pines y la herramienta de curación. Hay que comprar y organizar los servidores, dominios y subdominios, y otras licencias para el servidor. El código existente debe revisarse, actualizarse parcialmente y transferirse a nuevos servidores y máquinas de respaldo. Todo esto está prácticamente terminado, ya que el servicio está funcionando.
Toda esta infraestructura necesita ser testeada y gestionada, y nuestro equipo de operaciones debe encargarse de la gestión de la seguridad, así como de la activación y prueba de las herramientas de monitoreo. Planeamos contar con un sistema de reserva y un sistema de pruebas para todos los desarrollos futuros.
Reanudaremos la curación para la comunidad. Esto significa que reclutaremos nuevos miembros para el equipo de curación y les enseñaremos a usar la herramienta de curación y a gestionar el trail de curación. Por lo tanto, expandiremos la cuenta @worldmappin con la ayuda de la comunidad, con más delegaciones para aumentar el poder de voto para publicaciones de calidad.
Nos alegra informarles que todo esto se ha logrado con un gran esfuerzo en equipo durante el primer mes. Gracias al equipo conformado por: @detlev, @lizanomadsoul,@arcange, @ybanezkim26, @louis88, @rivalzzz, @masterswatch, @uniforced, @lauramica, @glecerioberto and @godfish cumplimos ese objetivo.
Después de que @detlev y @lizanomadsoul tomaran las riendas del proyecto, dándole un nuevo nombre, dominio, propuesta y objetivos, todos juntos empezamos a trabajar para cumplir nuestras promesas de inmediato.
Cuestiones tecnológicas
Esta fase 1, relacionada con la tecnología, requirió una gran inversión de tiempo y comunicación, impulsada por @arcange y @detlev, quienes pronto recibieron el apoyo de @masterswatch y @uniforced para la parte de programación. Avanzar con un proyecto existente es difícil, y cada día encontrábamos nuevos temas por resolver.
Todo estuvo organizado, codificado y testeado para que pudiéramos empezar a funcionar a principios de junio.
Equipo de curación
@lizanomadsoul e @ybanezkim26 reclutaron un nuevo equipo de curadores en solo unos pocos días. @lauramica y @glecerioberto se incorporaron para completar la curación y moderación de la comunidad.
Desde el momento en que @arcange les permitió volver a utilizar la herramienta de curación mejorada, ellos han logrado curar entre 80 y 100 publicaciones por día, escribir el Travel Digest diario, moderar la comunidad para ayudar a incorporar y motivar a todos los miembros, y a observar y evitar que se incumplan las reglas.
Recompensas por delegación
Este trabajo, junto con la participación de los miembros de la comunidad que siguen el trail y delegan Hive Power, ha hecho crecer la cuenta a 17.500 HP + 207.000 HP en delegaciones. Nuestro programa de recompensas para todos los delegadores podría ser otra razón para obtener tanto apoyo de la comunidad.
Fase 2: Mantener la calidad del servicio
Nos aseguraremos de que la infraestructura funcione correctamente, y el equipo de curación crecerá hasta convertirse en un grupo de personas que garanticen la calidad. La comunidad en Hive y Discord se gestionará de forma más activa y, por ejemplo, contará con más actividades, funciones, estructura e información continua.
Junto con la comunidad y el equipo de desarrolladores, crearemos una lista de nuevas características y funciones viables para la próxima versión de Worldmappin. Nos gustaría ofrecer funcionalidades para integrar mapas en comunidades u otras aplicaciones, e incluso estamos considerando la dirección de nuestra propia aplicación móvil.
Desde el principio, organizamos llamadas de equipo para debatir ideas y tareas en curso. Así, pronto tuvimos en claro hacia dónde nos dirigíamos. Luego dejamos de lado el chat escrito y las llamadas para tener videollamadas con todos los miembros de todo el mundo. Imaginen tener un equipo distribuido desde Filipinas, Europa hasta Argentina: hay que tener en cuenta las zonas horarias.
Ampliando el equipo
Posteriormente, @ninaeatshere también se unió al equipo de curación para asegurar la calidad del contenido, identificar nuevos blogueros de viajes para la comunidad y apoyarnos con la curación en español y la moderación de la comunidad en Hive y Discord. Además, @sunsea colabora con pruebas críticas de las funciones para el usuario final.
Retroalimentación
Al recopilar opiniones sobre esas ideas y obtener más aportes en la reunión en Aachen y en Hivefest, completamos esa lista y establecimos una hoja de ruta clara para seguir los intereses de la comunidad.
Fase 3: Desarrollo del proyecto
En Hive Meetup Aachen y Hivefest en Split, @detlev y @lizanomadsoul hablarán sobre el estado del proyecto y las ideas de desarrollo, y las debatirán con la comunidad. Así, poco a poco, podremos seguir desarrollando el proyecto y alcanzar nuestro gran objetivo: llevar el servicio @worldmappin a un nuevo nivel.
En esta fase, se desarrollará y probará el plan claro de nuestra lista de características y funciones hasta un nuevo nivel de "fijación de pines". El equipo de desarrollo comenzará a trabajar en nuevas características, a probarlas y lo anunciaremos a través de la cuenta Worldmappin a la comunidad de Hive.
Ofrecemos el proyecto Worldmappin en GitHub como un proyecto de código abierto y hablaremos fuera de la comunidad de Hive existente sobre el proyecto para conectar a más personas con Hive.
Fue un honor representar el proyecto en Aachen y en el Hivefest. Como prometimos, allí discutimos todas las ideas como base para nuestra hoja de ruta. Para entonces, el proyecto ya era de código abierto.
Para este momento, ya hemos alcanzado algunos objetivos marcados en nuestra hoja de ruta, tales como:
Renovar la interfaz del mapa:
- Nueva apariencia y mejoras para dispositivos móviles: reconstrucción de la interfaz, renovación del código
- Simplificación máxima de la aplicación, especialmente en la versión móvil, agregando una vista general de las estadísticas y del mapa personal
- Implementación del algoritmo de agrupamiento modificado.
- Mayor velocidad: mucho más rápido (3 veces más rápido y 4 veces más pines mostrados)
- Integración con Peakd: implementación en Peakd para que resulte más fácil añadir el pin al post directamente al crear la publicación
Escribir pautas de redacción y sugerencias para la comunidad:
- Para ofrecer una visión general transparente y rápida de la comunidad
- Para ayudar a los nuevos usuarios
- Como apoyo para que los usuarios actuales mejoren su contenido
Construir un bot de recompensas por curación:
- Para crecer juntos
- Compartir el beneficio: cuando hacemos nuestra propia curación, tú también recibes Hive Power.
- Es una forma saludable de apoyar el Ecosistema de Hive.

Finanzas
Una actualización, por supuesto, implica mucho más que mostrar lo que hicimos. Como proyecto financiado, también queremos comunicar con transparencia lo que hemos logrado con el apoyo diario de 85 HBD hasta la fecha.
El plan era hacerlo todo con un presupuesto pequeño para ver cómo podíamos manejar este proyecto.
Los costos actuales están dentro de ese presupuesto, tal como lo planeamos. Así que pueden confiar en nuestras estimaciones :)
Ahora que la base está desarrollada y funcionando de manera estable durante casi un año, para desarrollos futuros, por supuesto, buscaremos más profundamente otras fuentes de ingresos para el proyecto.
Además, estamos planeando una nueva propuesta en junio de 2025 para poder hacer que Worldmappin sea aún más valioso para el ecosistema Hive.
Primeras Ideas para el Futuro
Por supuesto, nuestro equipo nunca se queda de brazos cruzados y ya tenemos nuevas ideas para el próximo año. Pero claro, ¡este proyecto no es para nosotros, sino para ustedes! Por eso, nos interesa mucho conocer sus opiniones y comentarios para saber si vamos por un buen camino.
Comunidades e interfaces
- Integrar poco a poco a las comunidades de Hive en el mapa, mostrando temas separados relacionados a sus nichos, como comida, cerveza y muchos otros
- Añadir un filtro de mapa para mostrar los diferentes temas y proporcionar nuestra herramienta de curación a esas comunidades
- Utilizar Worldmappin desde otras interfaces como Ecency e inLeo
Gamificación para la Comunidad de Viajes
- Actualizar la tabla de clasificación (semanal, mensual y anual) para motivar a los usuarios a superarse entre sí
- Añadir otras funciones, como los países visitados
- Diversos juegos sencillos para la comunidad
Uso de dispositivos móviles
- Aplicación web para todas las funciones de Worldmappin
- Más funciones móviles con el tiempo
Nuevo Diseño
- Mejora del diseño UX/UI
