Hey everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa.

I took a little trip to Sea Point in Cape Town. Where is that? Well, if you have not visited Cape Town before but you are familiar with the picture of Table Mountain dead center before you... to the right of that and slightly around the foot of Signal Hill.

Signal Hill has a cannon on it that is fired every day at exactly 12:00... so you can set your watch if you need to!

Anyway, another big milestone is the big Greenpoint stadium where we hosted part of the Fifa 2010 World Cup... and where a lot of Rugby is played and concerts are held.

So the purpose of my trip to this part of the city was to collect medication on prescription for @clairemobey. We often do the drive together but today I was on my own.

It was a nice day out, so I decided, after the pickup, to park the car on the side of the Promenade and go for a walk (totally with the intention to make a Worldmappin post! Haha!)

So lets go through the camera roll and I will commend on the pics!

Parked, the road and lawn before the Promenade.

As you drive down the road here, this is what you see. The see and people walking, strolling or running up and down the promenade.

There is a double wide sidewalk here next to the cars... I don't know why since there is a massive promenade just on the other side of this lawn.

Looking down the other way. The Promenade is quite a long thing and it curves and hugs the shore.

On the other side of the road I thought I would show what the buildings look like. Mostly, this area is dominated by apartment blocks. I am sure that a lot of it is holiday homes and guest houses.

Sometimes they are just blocks like this. Other times the lower lever is a restaurant with a sea view.

And these buildings stretch on the whole way.

Promenade

Here I am crossing the lawn area. It is is a massive lawn. Some parts of it is greener. It all depends on the water restrictions and the heat of the season. Also, I can imagine that sea air and sand does attack this grass a lot.

See? Here is the Promenade. It is wide, some days this walkway is packed with people strolling, jogging, cycling and roller-blading up and down the coast. It goes on for kilometers!

There are places along the way one might be able to buy something to eat or drink.

From here, the view is of a rocky shore. As you can see the formation of the rocks looks like a slice of cake that fell on its side.

The wind and sand erodes the softer part of the stone and thus you are left with these ridges.

There are some sandy sections and I could see people with their kids on the sand further away.

Some landscape and building pictures as seen from the Promenade.

Quite a lot of people seem to bring their pets here. I wonder if they live in the area and might live in the houses/apartments. Not a lot of space so they would have to walk the dogs daily.

And I had to take some selfies so you can see that I was really here. Sorry people behind me. Don't know if they were happy being photographed. haha.

And me with the sea behind me. The sun was super bright though!

An old pier or dock?

I saw this strange structure on the beach and around about this time I must have had the idea to go on to the beach and go climbing around on there... hmmm...

There was another access stair down to the beach here, pretty easy to get to.

So there is a cement walkway. The rest is quite rocky and looks like it would be fairly difficult going to cross.

There was some guy and two ladies taking pictures with a big camera here, possibly fashion? I dunno.

There was also another gentleman here with two young daughters.

Here there are more man-made structures. This is what gives me the idea that this structure had been built out to possibly put a small boat out to sea.

It was clear that this structure was no being maintained and that it was eroding.

A view back of the promenade and the buildings. You can see how the promenade is built up from the sea shore... this I guess stops high tide from going over that lawn and into the first row of buildings.

This is a unique view. On the right is Lion's head. then the peak corner where the Table Mountain Cable Car is is poking out, to the left of that is the slope that carries on to Signal Hill.

I took some pictures of the sea. Sometimes a nice big spray shoots into the air here.

I then noticed that there were a lot of rockpools here and oh man, they are teeming with life! This is definitely a place to go exploring and looking at sea life. I used to do the same thing with my dad on the beach when I was a kid.

Inside this rock pool were some small fish swimming about. Bottom right you can see some starfish. There is plenty more... let me go in closer...

Yeah, startfish, periwinkles and little fish and other molluscs.

The Fall

There is so much to see here and so I decided to move around and get a better look. And that is when it happened. Turns out, not all the rocks and boulders you see are that stable and so I stood on one that gave way and pitched forward to my hands and knees!

I cut open my shin on my right leg.

And my knee on my left leg.

I also managed to scuff both arms in the process. But hey... I didn't drop or break my phone. The man with the two daughters helped me up. He said it was either going to be me or one of his kids so he thanked me for taking the fall.

Then came the embarrassing struggle back to my car and a much less comfortable drive back home.
