As most of you know it is an extremely important week for Hive as we delve into marketing on an international scale in the world of motorsport. Finally the Hive Blockchain is getting serious about marketing and on the 19th January up until the 22nd January the whopping 150,000 liquid Hive that was transferred over time to Binance to finance the car will finally bear fruit at the Rally Monte Carlo. The most prestigious rally event in the world.
Not only did the Hive marketing wing "Valueplan", who obtained over 340k HBD from a DHF proposal, pay for the advertising , wrapping, and video production of the rally car but they pretty much purchased a brand new car which was to race at this weeks Monte Carlo rally which raised many eyebrows on Hive.
This really shows a statement of intent that Hive means business to get the brand out there. The car is the only car taking part that has a blockchain logo on it so Hive will be getting the all the publicity in this specific niche which is excellent. The car looks stunning as well. Kudos to the team for the car wrapping. It's looking well. So to commemorate this milestone and the fact that there is very little published posts around this massive outlay of Hive funds , we sent our reporter Charles McGarnicle to Monte Carlo to soak up the atmosphere.
Hi my name is Charles and I arrived here on a cold sunny January to the South of France and I am currently sitting by the square opposite the famous Monte Carlo casino which is famous for the James Bond scenes in Casino Royal. It is beautiful here with the sun , sea , nice cars and yachts in the harbour. I am having a nice café in the upmarket restaurant on the main square. It is the only restaurant where I had to pass through a metal detector on the way in and security are man mountains. A model is chatting with her little doggie in front of me and the old one wearing the green jacket to my right that is worth around 50k. That's the thing about rich people, their clothes might look like a homeless person would wear them but they cost more than your house. I'm rambling now. The rally , the rally. WOOOOOOOOOO!!! PUTTING THE HIVE BLOCKCHAIN ON THE MAP FINALLY!!!!!!!!
I walk around the city by the yachts and up the hill to the Princes palace where the streets are cobbled and little shops sell souvenirs. I took a photo of the marina from the Princes Palace. It is really beautiful here and the Hive team picked a great event to kick things off. I do a tour of the F1 track and the famous tunnel before I go to seek the rally massif. I can't believe I am being paid to do this. My job is great. It is really nice to be in Monte Carlo. The only problem is the roaming charges and the fact that Monaco is not in the EU. I found out because I received a message around the roaming charges going over €80. God dam it. I suppose I will just have to claim back the extra expenses in a memo titled "Unforeseen Expenditure". Now that the atmosphere is soaked up it is time to get into rally mode. Testing is taking place so I am off up the snowy mountain to see what is happening. WWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! GO HIVE BLOCKCHAINNNNNNNNNNN!
Testing is taking part up the mountains. No sign of our Hive peeps anywhere, they must be testing somewhere else.. I bump into Elfyn Evans and Scott Martinat before they set off in their Toyota Gazoo. Serious outfit. We get chatting and they are excited around the race. They ask me who I am here to see and I tell them the Hive Blockchain team. They haven't heard of any Hive Blockchain car being entered in the rally as they are not on the timesheet. Strange, but maybe they are in a different category. I laugh it off and tell them that we are a small outfit. Doesn't matter they tell me , the team should be on the sheet. Again I laugh it off and briskly walk away.
"Where are you guys?" I whisper to myself. It is getting dark and it is very cold up here in them there hills. I head back to my hotel for some dinner and a couple of drinks.
I arrive down for dinner to a smell of shower gel and engine oil as the rally teams descend onto the open buffet to fill their tummies after a cold days racing. I keep an eye out for any Hive logos but none to be seen. :-(
Maybe they are staying in a nicer hotel considering the Hive investment. I get talking to some of the crew and none of them have heard of our lads in the testing areas either.
Hmmmmmm I am sure they are around somewhere. This is fishy. Fair enough, some of the projects that Valueplan are funding make FTX look like a well run operation. But not the bloody rally car. Can't be the rally car. The future of Hive is in their hands. If this goes tits up it makes everyone will look a bit foolish including yours truly for heading to Monaco in the first place.
Ring Ring
Oh christ, it's the boss.
Hello sir.
Mcgarnicle its Mahony your editor, how is your trip to Monte Carlo?
Good good but I have not located the Hive team yet.
Something is not right.
God dam right it's not, we found out from ruffle featherer @doze 's post that the rally car isn't competing in Monte Carlo after all so we booked you on the first flight home in the morning.
Ah for god sake boss, you are joking. I was enjoying myself??
I am not joking. Turns out they sent in the application later than the rest and even though they were within the time limits they were still denied entry for being too late. Not sure how that works but at the end of the day they ain't gonna be competiting!
Well that's a bit of a disaster to say the least.
So the return on investment from the 154,000 Hive put in??
Well they say they will race a different rally somewhere in Eastern Europe although nowhere near as prestigious and frankly not worth the massive investment. We will send you to there to cover that one too but Monte Carlo was the cash cow and that's in the past now.
There won't be a comment on a Hive rally car post for the next 6 months until this all blows over.
God dam right. Reputations will be damaged over this cock up. Nobody is saying it but the silence is deafening. If you are given over $50,000 for a rally car event , the first thing you should do is make sure you are in the fucking race. How did things go this wrong? It makes everyone involved look like a right bunch of numptys altogether.
Anyway that's for them to worry about.
"It's a shame, the rally car crew must be devastated."
Well at least they still went to Monaco to soak up the atmosphere like yourself because they had the hotel booked with no cancelation policy. At least they get a holiday to cheer them up from their disappointment. Otherwise the 3325 Hive allocated for the Monaco stay would have been a total waste of resources.
Ah that's true it was nice of Valueplan to do that. Funding an entire car, expenses and a holiday.
Yeah I will give them that. They look after their people well.
Anyway the important thing is there is no story to cover now so your flight is at 6.30am in the morning on Ryanair.
Ah man I was going on a hot date with my Hive friend that I never met before @analbeads1967 in Nice tomorrow night. Can I not stay for another night??? Pleaseeeeeeeeeee boss.
"No Mcgarnicle what do I look like?? The bank of Hive?? Valueplan?? Get away to fuck. And if you think I am paying an additional expenses you have another thing coming. "Make friends with the uppercrusts if you want to swan around the sound of France for a week. You will be asking me to buy you a car next!!
"Anyway we need you on another story."
Anything interesting?
Someone died on an Actifit run and his wife posted it up on Hive.
That's sad.
The good news is that appreciator and OCD upvoted the post which partially paid for the funeral
At least that is something.
His wife then posted about the funeral which was upvoted by Curie and Curangel which paid for the rest so we are labeling it the first Hive death and funeral. It is getting good coverage on crypto twitter. More than the car it turns out so get back here ASAP.
Right away boss
