The story so far: King Atrelegis has returned with the Darklyte Armor. The Elves have joined the war. The Eastern Kingdoms seem to have a fighting chance. Datarans are battling demons. We are at the calm before the storm.
The issue opens with a nice little recap. The modern Kings are digesting the return of the King from three centuries ago and trying to decide what to do.
If the armor is here, whether he is really King Atrelegis or not, it would be in their best interest not to allow him to just run out and try to fight Malagen. If he is really still Aalok and loyal to Dataran, they will have just given Malagen what he wanted. Even if he is not, Malagen could possibly defeat him and take what he wanted. Atrelegis does not like this at first but Elessa convinces him to hang back and not expose himself.
While the Kings and Queens strategize, the others are preparing for war. The final battle is ahead and they know not all of them are going to make it out alive. Captain Zana and Jerell especially share a moment. Jerell seems to believe he will not make it out alive.
G'Dar is gearing up and doing his berserker ceremony. He is one of Chodan's Chosen and will be blessed with power in battle. He does the same for Zeph.
Hours pass and the forces have gathered on the battlefield. The elves are hidden out of sight and the Eastern Kingdom armies are facing down a large force of orcs to begin with. The elves are eager for battle so they get the show started quickly with a massive volley of arrows. The unsuspecting orcs fall quickly and the Myrish cavalry charges after.
The armies are making great progress through the forces of evil. Aalok realizes it is a trap however. He also realizes the armor's power comes from absorbing the energy of all the dying vampires. It grows more powerful with every one of them. Aalok can't take the thirst for battle and runs off.
Atrelegis (or Aalok which ever you want to call him at this point) steals the Generals horse to ride off into battle. But he isn't the only one. G'Dar and Zeph also charge shortly behind.
Now with his glorious steed and sword along with the magically charged and extremely powerful Darklyte Armor, Aalok, King Atrelegis, calls for Malagen to show himself!
Malagen plans to meet him head on and is not without his own power.
The final showdown is upon us! Amidst this gigantic war of many races all eyes are now on the classic Light vs Darkness showdown that will be King Atrelegis vs Malagen the Black.
What are the demons doing now? Is G'Dar helping Zeph get vengeance? Will Zana and Jerell make it? How are they going to deal with someone as powerful as Shrogram or smart as Tessan? The Eastern Kingdoms still have a lot to overcome regardless of the outcome between Malagen and Aalok. Not sure how much answers we will get in the final issue, but we're definitely about to see a big showdown! And it is going to be spectacular!
