9+ hours of EDM
You may have already seen my post from yesterday about our exciting adventure to Excision's Reunion at Legend Valley. If not, then you should totally check that post out... here is a link for you.
Today I am going to continue with more about the Reunion music festival. Instead of providing a heavily edited trailer-style video with only a glimpse of what @flowerbaby and I witnessed, I will show you, even more, this time. The video above has at least 30 seconds from all 12 artists' sets at Reunion. Every single one was high energy and unforgettable. This setlist of EDM talents is full of top-tier producers.
Along with my 10+ minute video, I thought it would be a fun idea to talk more about the dozen artists individually. Some of whom I had seen at previous shows, others it was my first time. One thing for certain is that I had listened to all of their music on Spotify for hundreds of hours in total already.
Above were the set times for Saturday (Day 2) of Reunion. Day 1 also had a lot of great artists, but I wasn't there that day so we won't be talking about that.
Excision was OG EDM artist that put Reunion on, with lots of help too of course. This short recap video for Day 2 below was posted on his Twitter.

Now that you've seen a couple of videos and a brief intro to what is in store with this blog, let's get started. I'll be going through all 12 artists, in order of when they performed at Reunion. I hope you enjoy learning more about each of them.
Jessica Audiffred
Jessica Audiffred is a breakthrough talent who's sound has long outgrown Mexico City, the alpha metropolis of her upbringing, and rise to prominence. Establishing her own niche style within the Bass and Trap genres not only as a legitimate, sought after music producer representing brands such as Pioneer, Beats Audio, Samsung, and Monster Products but also as a captivating live performer, moving festival crowds at EDC and Tomorrowland (Mexico) year after year alongside world-class acts and relevant talent. In 2016, with great success, Jessica introduced her ‘A Records’ imprint further expressing her concept and discernment for Electronic music. Skrillex & co.’s ’Nest HQ’ celebrated her as a “Tastemaker... soon to be a major staple in the global dance scene”. ‘Your EDM’ has hailed her “the Queen of Mexico’s Trap and Bass scene” and with heavy blog presence Jessica earned the attention of industry giant, Flux Pavilion who went as far as including her in his small list of top global acts for the ‘DJmag’ top 100 – signing her to his label, ’Circus Recordings’ and offering her the opportunity to remix his latest release alongside NGHTMRE, “Feel Your Love”. With an arsenal of bass-heavy releases scheduled for the coming year, Jessica has no intentions of slowing down. ‘Run the Trap’ termed 2017 as “Jessica’s breakout year” and ‘Audio Femme’ listed her as one of the top 10 female acts of the coming year. One thing is certain, Jessica is not just another basic Electronic act but a notable ‘threat’ on every level. Source
This was the first artist to hit the stage during Day 2 of Reunion. Audi didn't waste any time at all getting things heated up. Within the first 20 minutes, she had already initiated mosh pits on both sides of the crowd. The energy was unreal and her set was stellar. I loved her Spanish accent and the fact that she traveled all the way from Mexico to open up. This was my first time seeing Jessica Audiffred live and I am glad that it happened. My favorite Jessica Audiffred song: VAMPA, otherwise known as Emily Mucha, is a 21-year-old producer/DJ rising in the North and Southeastern dubstep scenes, bringing a new wave of otherwordly deep bass music to the masses. Through her low-end, wobbling frequencies, she allows people to feel the bass resonate and move within themselves, capturing the audience and delivering them to a new kind of heightened experience from right where they’re standing. Her unique sound is represented by her love for the underground, hailing respect from artists she has opened for in the past, including Mija, Boogie T, Trampa, Dubloadz, EPROM, Whipped Cream, Nitti Gritti, Blunts and Blondes, Jphelpz, Xaebor, Yheti and more. Playing sets at Okeechobee Music Festival, Miami Music Week, Hulaween Music Festival, Zen Awakening Festival, Pass the Good Festival, and Fractal Beach, she has gained a dedicated following, seeing her dreams manifest before their eyes as she progresses in the scene. Her mission is to unveil her creative expression to the world and prove to others that there is infinite potential for every person to succeed. Through the perfect blend of logic, creativity, and spiritual inspiration, her visions continue to come to life. Source Another lady was up next. Vampa is no stranger to my ears, I listen to her music pretty frequently. I had however never watched her perform live before. Her set was full of bangers and songs featuring her lovely voice. She is super talented and I was lucky to even get to see her at Reunion. She was supposed to play during Day 1 of Reunion, but her set was canceled that day due to a lightning storm. So she instead played during Day 2, while I was there. My favorite Vampa song: Sonya Broner (Level Up) is the definition of hard work paying off, and she is only getting started. Sonya began her career in the realm of hip-hop but has fully blossomed into her hardcore, bass dropping beat pumping dubstep style. She’s brought the heat to festivals such as Electric Forest, High Caliber, and Lost Lands, along with over 30 drive-in events. Her impressive rise to fame has been accompanied by releases on labels like Deadbeats, Buygore and GRVDNCR. We cannot wait to see her name in bold on the headliner spot of all our favorite festivals. Source The third to spin some of that nasty bass was Level Up. This is yet another female artist and someone who I had never seen live before. Like the other two I mentioned before her, I already loved her music. Her skills on stage made me like her even more afterward. She was full of energy and even played a VIP version of my favorite song that she has released, Scared of the Dark. My favorite Level Up song: He$h is a notorious dubstep producer from Dallas, TX. Known for his unique sound design, coupled with dirty south hip-hop influence, he launched Fuckshit Records with his brother-in-arms Bommer to release their music. Some of He$h’s notable festival plays include Lost Lands, Spring Awakening, Bass Canyon, and Bonnaroo. He has three national tours under his belt with the likes of Excision, Subtronics, and Bommer. Source This is the first artist I saw at Reunion who I had already been to one of their shows previously. He$h has one of my favorite sounds in EDM. His fan regime calls themself Burner Posse and his songs have a lot of gun sounds. If you were ever living the trap life, you will appreciate He$h's sounds and image. He seems like a super cool dude and a total stoner, you can tell by how he walks and talks. Did I mention that his bass is hard af? I mean damn his drops got the whole crowd wild and it was amazing to be part of. My favorite He$h song: Kompany (Kyle Hagberg) has emerged from the shadows of anonymity to present some of the more promising bass music projects. Having perfected his craft in the esteemed halls of Icon Collective, Kompany is now bringing his music to a global audience having released music multiple times on Never Say Die. Blending versatile sound design with aggressive forms of bass music, Kompany is a force to be reckoned with. Source One of my favorite artists that I've seen live in the past is Kompany. I've been to two of his shows previously and had a blast both times. His sound is something that I can't help but go crazy to. I still think of his Metropolis EP as one of my favorite EPs out there. His set was just as great as I expected it to be, he never disappoints. He seems like the most fan-friendly artist that was at Reunion. Kompany got out in the crowd and was taking photos with the fans. I didn't get a picture with him this time, but I did at the Lousiville show I got to see him at back in 2019. My favorite Kompany song: Something entirely new has entered Earth’s atmosphere in 2017. The producer/DJ Lucii has landed and brought out of this world bass to our globe. Whether you’re a human, a humanoid, or altogether an alien, her busty beats will get you on your feet and dancing. Otherwise known as Emily Rose, Lucii is an otherworldly creator of a unique genre called Space Bass. She has already brought her intergalactic sound to this world through festival sets of Pass the Good, Fractal Beach, and many more. Lucii has come in peace. Her signature style has already been accepted and loved by the likes of Yheti, Liquid Stranger, Conrank, The Widdler, Clozee, and many more. She landed in 2017, but her music is here to stay until the Earth is no more, where it then will return to the cosmos. Source Lucii was the final lady to showcase her talents on Saturday. I got to see her with several other Wakaan artists once before, I was actually with my brother during that show in KY. She is an electrifying performer, never lacking enthusiasm. This day was no different, but @flowerbaby and I were already so exhausted by the time that she finally got to play, we were resting through most of her set. I still got to listen to it all, but didn't do much dancing so that I still had energy left for the remainder of Reunion. My favorite Lucii song: Kai Wachi has been a dominant force in bass music since his debut. His thrilling productions continue to break new ground as the Boise creative has become accustomed to bridging different styles for dynamic hybrid works. Although he has been highly acclaimed for extraordinary sound design and his hip-hop signatures, his emotionally driven musical sensibilities are where he truly stands above the rest. Over the years Kai has established himself as one of the industry’s most promising producers with support from the likes of Excision, NGHTMRE, and many more. Records including his debut album, DEMIGOD, which includes collaborations with Famous Dex, Sullivan King, Grabbitz, and more, have been particularly integral to his more recent growth, as they’ve mesmerized fellow artists, fans, and curators at both Apple and Spotify. He’s also collaborated with the likes of Dylan Matthew, PhaseOne, and Apashe, as well as done official remixes for Excision, Tech N9ne, BTSM, and Svdden Death. Kai has been hailed as an MVP at festivals including Lost Lands, EDC Las Vegas, Paradiso, and Wobbleland, as well as become a mainstay on Kannibalen Records while touring alongside Black Tiger Sex Machine numerous times. With one of the best independent labels and booking agencies at his back, there is no limit to Kai Wachi’s success in the future where he will continue to advance electronic music forward. Source Kai Wachi has been one of my favorite artists for a while now. His music gets your blood pumping and is probably some of the best to listen to while working out. My homie @simpleeme can attest to that, as you saw in this video. We had the chance to see him live together in 2019 and both will never forget how hard we went that night. Kai Wachi killed it at Reunion. I know pretty much all of his songs, so this set was sick! https://twitter.com/KaiWachiMusic/status/1416783744221032449?s=20 My favorite Kai Wachi song: New Orleans own Boogie T has risen to prominence in the dubstep/bass music world as a noted DJ/producer/singer/multi-instrumentalist, touring the world, performing at festivals such as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Coachella, EDC Vegas + Orlando, and releasing music with the likes of GRiZ, Snails, Subtronics, Ganja White Night, his band Boogie T.Rio, and more. Source @flowerbaby's personal favorite set came from none other than the groovy dude himself, Boogie T. Neither one of us had seen him live before, but I had listened to a ton of his music over the years. As you may have seen from my post yesterday, this was the set that I danced the hardest to according to my Apple Watch's calculations. His performance at Reunion made me like him even more than I already did. Plus just look at that gnarly beard that man has grown, respect to that. My favorite Boogie T song: 12th Planet is the electronic music pioneer whose off-axis beats and subsonic frequencies orbit at the forefront of global bass culture. Recently named “Los Angeles dubstep god” by Rolling Stone, 12th Planet aka John Dadzie and his influential label SMOG Records are widely credited for bringing the British dubstep movement stateside, and continue to be a crucial force in the evolution of electronic music. 12th Planet’s DJ sets now include a myriad of styles that reflect the current, diverse landscape of EDM music and continue to display his role as an essential tastemaker in the dance music world. 12th Planet burst onto the scene in 2006, releasing tracks that helped ignite the North American EDM explosion and collaborating with the likes of Skrillex, Kill The Noise, Datsik and Plastician. In 2012, 12th Planet’s seminal track “Reasons” (Doctor P Remix) was named by SPIN Magazine as one of the ‘30 Greatest Dubstep Songs of All Time’ — after all, “nothing set the tone for domestic bass culture quite like this Planet’s orbit,” said SPIN. 12th Planet has gone on to be recognized as “King of Dubstep” by SPIN and “US dubstep godfather” by UK’s dance music bible Mixmag after headlining tours across the globe and performing at major festivals including Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival, Ultra Music Festival and more. Since 2006, 12th Planet has also led what’s become one of the most thriving underground movements in electronic music, with MTV calling the crew a “pioneering incubator of bass music in America.” The SMOG crew, with 12th Planet at the helm, continues to produce top-quality events in Los Angeles and beyond, always pushing forward as an internationally recognized leader in U.S. bass music. However, John Dadzie’s role has extended beyond just bass music to encompass the whole of EDM, including what he recently described to OC Weekly as “transition music,” — a sound that incorporates diverse styles and BPMs. His DJ set is no longer classifiable by genre but best dubbed “a trip to the 12th Planet and back.” Source 12th Planet has been in the game since 2006 and was one of the first producers to bring dubstep to the USA. His sound is extremely well polished and unique. His set was a B2B (back to back) with Wooli (I'll talk about him next). When 12th Planet dropped Marine Iguana I went wild. It happened yet again when he finally laid down one of my all-time favorites World Builder. This man is an absolute legend and I cannot believe this was my first time getting to see him live. I will never forget this set, especially since he was tag-teaming it with Wooli. 12th Planet had some of the coolest visuals I have seen before. My favorite 12th Planet song: Wooli (Adam) is an East Coast producer who has quickly taken 2016 by storm. In a short time, Wooli has gained support from the top artists and writers in the industry. With successful releases and premieres under imprints such as Owsla’s NEST HQ and Mad Decent’s Good Enough, Wooli has proved his productions are worthy to take note of. Adam’s refreshing take on Bass Music has captivated music lovers across multiple genres, Blending together melodic future bass and hard-hitting dubstep, Wooli creates a unique live experience that you do not want to miss. Source This was my second time seeing Wooli live, I got to go to one of his shows in NC back in 2019. Wooli's B2B set with 12th Planet was jam-packed with songs that I love and mega bass. The two murdered it and really but the speakers to test with their sounds. Wooli's visuals were even better than 12th Planet's... actually, they were my favorite of any artist at Reunion. They played as the sun was setting, so half of their set was in light and the other half in the dark. Wooli gets his name from the woolly mammoth, which you can see on his t-shirt in a Chicago Bulls-style design. Wooli is such a dope artist and I'm happy that I finally was able to see him again. My favorite Wooli song: Within a scene that is constantly changing, few have risen through the trenches and have stirred the bass community in 2017 as much as Bay Area native Danny Howland, better known as Svdden Death. Taking inspirations from Noisia, 16BIT, Skrillex, and other legends in the dubstep community – Svdden Death has formulated a hybrid of textured rhythms and sub-wrecking basslines to create his own maniacal sound. With the release of his first EP through the well-known Never Say Die: Black Label as well as singles released via Buygore Record’s newest imprint Fresh Blood – Svdden Death has made his mark in the bass scene and will be one to watch. Source Svdden Death has the darkest sound out of every artist on Reunion's list. That may sound like a bad thing, but trust me it is not. This dude's music is awesome in so many ways. His sound is so unique and just makes you want to bounce to the beat. I was lucky to see him all the way back in 2018 when he still hadn't got to be as big as he is these days. He killed it back then and smashed it yet again at Reunion. His set was in the dark which means the light show was at full force. We were nearly spent by the time he finally got on stage, but I still enjoyed the hell out of it. My favorite Svdden Death song: Excision shows are like no other. A virtual apocalypse of twisting and morphing sounds turns massive crowds into a frenzy. Earth-shattering walls of bass relentlessly smash upon the bodies of headbanging fans around the world. Hailing from Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, Excision’s diverse skills as a DJ and producer constantly test the limits of electronic music with vastly different sets that encompass a full range of genres since 2006. The things you see and hear during the precious time you are engaged by Excision’s sounds will eclipse your mind for a lifetime. With 10+ years of constant touring under his belt, two major music festivals to call his own in Bass Canyon (August – Washington) and Lost Lands (September – Ohio), multiple chart-topping hits, and millions of screaming fans around the world, Excision has proven himself as the true champion of Bass Music. Excision’s fourth full-length studio album Apex (2018) adds another groundbreaking achievement to his already staggering collection of original music, following up from Virus (2016), Codename X (2015), and X Rated (2011), plus countless singles, collabs, mixes, and EPs over the last decade. Source Excision was the last to perform at Reunion and the only artist to hit the stage for a full set on both days. He was the one to put on Reunion and he has been doing it big since 2006. This is another one of the main men when it comes to bringing dubstep to North America. He was one of the first artists I ever heard when I was first discovering EDM all the way back in 2012, right after I graduated high school and was starting college. The only time I had ever seen him live before was back in 2018 in OH. I went by myself to that show, but damn was it fun. Excision's music, visuals, and light shows are at the top of the food chain. This man is the apex of heavy bass and if you ever get the chance to go to one of his shows, you will not be disappointed. My favorite Excision song: That is everyone that we say on Day 2 of Reunion. So many fantastic artists, I could say so much more about each. I thought that you may enjoy a few more photos from Reunion. The following are photos of the crazy lights from Excision's set and a couple of group photos of all the artists I talked about. One last thing. I linked my favorite song for each artist above already, but I also have a dope playlist with even more music from each one of them. I have it sorted by when they performed at Reunion. This means that you could potentially experience their music similar to how I did. I highly recommend checking it out. Hopefully, you learned something new about EDM today. This music scene is like no other and truly is one of my favorite things in the world. If you aren't already a fan, please tell me... WHY? ▶️ 3Speak
