Hello Nug,
You and I have colds again! That’s all part of daycare, although we call it ‘summer camp’ when it’s during the summertime.
And what a summer you’ve had so far. As a big toddler, you have been splashing in water so much. We take you to swimming lessons (the water in the new place is quite cold so you wear your wetsuit there). We take you to the local wading pool and splash pad; you can spend over an hour playing there with all the other kids. And recently Mom took you on a cottage trip and you spent hours in a lake, day after day!
Your words keep growing, and you can do four-word sentences with confidence now. You love the sound and rhythm of counting, and know numbers like 13 already (just how to say them, I don’t know if you understand what 13 actually means).
Emotions are big and different these days. You’ll be very happy and laughing, then you can become frustrated and upset quickly, then back to happy. Exploring all these emotions is an important part of growing up, and Mom and Dad have to remind ourselves of that often.
Right now was a good example. I just finished writing that then you came home with Mom. We ate a lot for dinner but you also were very fussy and threw food even when I asked you to stop. Then we all played on the couch and you were very excited and laughing and asking for tickles.
What else? Colouring remains a favourite activity of yours. We have new crayons and you’re getting good at making your own circles and picking different colours for your drawings. You can open and close lots of doors, bring your clothes to the laundry basket, and help in all sorts of things around the home. Oh, and your monkey noises are getting good (“Ooo ooo ahh ahh!”)
As you may be able to tell, a lot is happening. It's a busy time, we are all tired, but we are having lots of fun along the way. Next time I write, we will have gone on a big trip! I’ll let you know how it all went.
Hugs and kisses,
Dad
