La pandemia... recuerdo que cuando llegó a nuestras vida allá en el 2020, nadie sabia que serían tiempos difíciles donde la restricciones sociales serían parte de nuestras cotidianidad por los siguientes 2 años, donde no solo se perdieron muchas vidas sino también que afectó a quienes vivimos todo ese tiempo en cuarentena y en casa una mayor parte del tiempo, para evitar el contagio de nosotros y nuestro núcleo familiar, pero quienes más afectado se vieron fueron niños y adolescentes en sus diferentes escalas, claramente no descarto a nosotros los adultos pero las afectaciones fueron distintas dependiendo de la edad, en este caso el enfoque está dirigido a los niños pequeños.
The pandemic... I remember when it came to our lives back in 2020, nobody knew that it would be difficult times where social restrictions would be part of our daily lives for the next 2 years, where not only many lives were lost but also affected those who lived all that time in quarantine and at home most of the time, to avoid the contagion of us and our nuclear family, but those who were most affected were children and adolescents in different scales, clearly not discard us adults but the effects were different depending on age, in this case the focus is directed to young children.
Estando en plena pandemia y laborando activamente, ya que lo hacía para una empresa atunera, (alimento no perecedero con alta demanda en estos tiempos de crisis) es cuando me entero que tenía 2 meses de embarazo, fui suspendida de mi trabajo por mi estado de embarazo y así en plena pandemia llega mi hija, continuó pasando el tiempo y cumplió su primer año y aún seguía la pandemia.
Being in the middle of the pandemic and actively working, since I was working for a tuna company, (non-perishable food with high demand in these times of crisis) is when I found out that I was 2 months pregnant, I was suspended from my job because of my pregnancy and so in the middle of the pandemic my daughter arrived, time went by and she turned one year old and the pandemic was still going on.
Todo lo que se vivió concluye que los niños que nacieron en plena pandemia y en los primeros años de vida, solo interactuaban con quienes vivían con ellos en casa, en el caso de mi hija solo conocía papá, mamá y tía, ya que no la sacábamos a calle por miedo al contagio solo consultas médicas y como este caso miles de hogares, los niños no sabían que era ver e interactuar con el resto de la familiares, vecinos, amigos o gente que uno se topa en la calle, y si era hijo único menos sabía lo que era interactuar con otro bebé o niños 😯, tampoco conocían lo que era salir a la calle escuchar todo lo que en ella ocurre como por ejemplo el ruido de los autos 🫤 y de las personas.
Everything that was experienced concludes that children who were born in the middle of the pandemic and in the first years of life, only interacted with those who lived with them at home, in the case of my daughter only knew dad, mom and aunt, since we did not take her out to the street for fear of contagion only medical consultations and as in this case thousands of homes, the children did not know what it was to see and interact with the rest of the family, neighbors, friends or people that one encounters in the street, and if it was an only child, even less knew what it was to interact with another baby or children 😯, they also did not know what it was to go out to the street and listen to everything that happens in it, for example the noise of cars 😯 and people.
Y aunque la pandemia no se erradicó al 100% gracias a las vacunas y ciertas medidas de bioseguridad como: el uso de mascarillas y mantener una distancia prudencial entre las personas se pudo en la medida de posible volver a la normalidad a salir y hacer todas nuestras actividades diarias lo cual era genial y algo nuevo para los pequeños que nacieron y vivieron sus primeros años encerrados en casa, recuerdo que mi hija no le gustaba que otras personas la tocaran, le hablará, le ponía mala cara a las personas o lloraba en fin denominados niños pandemias por los mismos médicos.
And although the pandemic was not eradicated 100% thanks to the vaccines and certain biosecurity measures such as: the use of masks and keeping a safe distance between people, it was possible to return to normality to go out and do all our daily activities which was great and something new for the little ones who were born and lived their first years locked up at home, I remember that my daughter did not like other people touching her, talking to her, making bad faces at people or crying in short called pandemic children by the same doctors.
En lo personal llegue a estar con otras mamita cuya historia es igual a la mía duramos hablando aproximadamente 45 minutos en su casa, y lo que más nos sorprendió es que tanto su hija como la mia jugaban en la casa pero cada una por si lado jamás quisieron interactuaron 😯🫤 lo cual nos pareció lo más extraño del mundo ya que los niños por lo general suelen buscarse y juntarse a jugar... Paso el tiempo y bueno mi hija sigue siendo una niña un tanto distante y odiosa tiene que pasar un buen rato para que se anime a jugar con otros niños y bueno leyendo y viendo pediatras por medio de Instagram que abordan este tema uno que llamó mi atención fue que decía que los niños de 2 años próximo a 3 años deben manejar 50 palabras, me quedé boca abierta porque mi hija si acaso manejaba 18 palabras, así mismo otra especialista decía que esto del habla tardía es algo que se debe abordar y no dejar pasar porque es darle larga a ese problema literalmente quedé preocupada, se que cada niño tiene su propio proceso de aprendizaje y eso se debe respetar pero también están los estándares y estadísticas basados en estudios para saber a ciencia cierta que habilidades deben desarrollar los niños en sus diversas etapas.
Personally I got to be with another mom whose story is the same as mine, we talked for about 45 minutes in her house, and what surprised us the most is that both her daughter and mine played in the house but each one on their own never wanted to interact 😯🫤 which seemed the strangest thing in the world since children usually look for each other and get together to play.... Time passed and well my daughter continues to be a somewhat distant and hateful child has to spend a good time to encourage her to play with other children and well reading and watching pediatricians through Instagram that address this issue one that caught my attention was that he said that children from 2 years to 3 years should handle 50 words, I was open mouthed because my daughter if anything handled 18 words, Likewise, another specialist said that this late speech is something that should be addressed and not let it go because it is giving long to that problem, I was literally worried, I know that each child has its own learning process and that should be respected but there are also standards and statistics based on studies to know for sure what skills children should develop in their various stages.
Por lo que comencé averiguar acerca de terapias de lenguaje y talleres de estimulación temprana, para mí sorpresa en la comunidad donde vivo a acá en Ecuador cuenta con en Centro Desarrollo Comunitario (CDC) e imparten estos talleres de forma gratuita por lo que no dude en inscribir ambas niñas ya que estos mismo talleres por consulta tienen un valor de 20 $ es bastante costoso si debes llevar al niño 2 veces por semana, y la verdad es que las niñas acá le enseñan bastantes cosas.
So I started to find out about speech therapy and early stimulation workshops, to my surprise in the community where I live here in Ecuador has a Community Development Center (CDC) and teach these workshops for free so I did not hesitate to enroll both girls as these same workshops per consultation have a value of $ 20 is quite expensive if you must take the child 2 times a week, and the truth is that the girls here are taught a lot of things.
En la terapia de lenguaje es de carácter personal trabaja la licenciada por tiempo de 45 minutos con cada niño, en el caso de mi hija le enseña los colores primarios, números y sonido de los animales, son 2 sesiones por semana, en la actualidad hemos asistido 3 semanas y poco a poco la licenciada se ha ganado a la confianza de mi hija y así lograr trabajar con ella, ya que las primeras sesiones hilén no quería ningún tipo de interacción con la licenciada, ya que no está acostumbrada a interactuar con personas externas al núcleo familiar.
In the speech therapy is of a personal nature, the licensed works for 45 minutes with each child, in the case of my daughter she teaches her the primary colors, numbers and sound of animals, there are 2 sessions per week, currently we have attended 3 weeks and little by little the licensed has earned the trust of my daughter and thus manage to work with her, since the first sessions hilén did not want any interaction with the licensed, since she is not used to interact with people outside the family nucleus.
Ahora bien a los talleres de estimulación temprana las clases son en grupo, asisten muchas madres con sus pequeños y este me encanta porque mis hijas ve a otros niños de su edad, juegan y aprenden todo al mismo tiempo en las diversas actividades y aunque ambas niñas están en este taller, por la edad están en grupos distintos, mi hija mayor tiene 2 años 7 meses y la más pequeña 5 meses.
Now, the early stimulation workshops are group classes, many mothers attend with their little ones and I love this one because my daughters see other children their age, they play and learn all at the same time in the various activities and although both girls are in this workshop, because of their age they are in different groups, my oldest daughter is 2 years 7 months old and the youngest is 5 months old.
Tras todo lo que se vivió durante la pandemia estos talleres son magníficos para nuestros hijos para desarrollar su parte del lenguaje el cual se vio afectado por la falta de socialización y así mismo ayuda a que interactúen con otros niños y desarrollen está habilidad, asimismo que desarrollen habilidades motrices y de concentración lo cual es muy beneficioso ya que los prepara para cuando inicien prescolar.
After all that was experienced during the pandemic, these workshops are great for our children to develop their language skills which were affected by the lack of socialization and also helps them to interact with other children and develop this ability, as well as to develop motor and concentration skills which is very beneficial because it prepares them for when they start preschool.
Entonces si vale la pena estos talleres de estimulación temprana así como las terapias de lenguaje son de gran ayuda para los más pequeños de la casa y más si nacieron y vivieron sus primeros años en casa por el tema de la pandemia, un factor importante es reforzar en casa lo enseñado en los talleres para así facilitar su aprendizaje, a mí como mamá me encanta estos talleres porque aprendo los diversos métodos para enseñarle a mis hijas, replicando los ejercicios en casa con 3 semana los cambios a nivel de lenguaje van dando fruto hay más manejo de palabras nuevas y a nivel de socialización si va todo un poco más lento pero es cuestión de tiempo igualmente estaré en los próximos post comentado actividades que pueden ser de utilidad para todos en la comunidad y que faciliten el desarrollo de nuestros pequeños desde casa.
So if it is worth these early stimulation workshops as well as speech therapies are of great help for the smallest of the house and more if they were born and lived their first years at home because of the pandemic, an important factor is to reinforce at home what is taught in the workshops to facilitate their learning, I as a mom I love these workshops because I learn the various methods to teach my daughters, Replicating the exercises at home with 3 weeks the changes at the language level are bearing fruit there is more handling of new words and at the level of socialization if everything goes a little slower but it is a matter of time also I will be in the next post commenting on activities that can be useful for everyone in the community and to facilitate the development of our little ones from home.
