In den vergangenen Tagen waren wir oft im Wald unterwegs auf der Suche nach Pilzen. Leider hat es im Spessart nur wenig geregnet. Pilze sind in unserer Region Mangelware, sodass es schwierig ist, geeignete Fotomotive zu finden. Die Wälder sind leer und ich vermisse den Geruch von Pilzen. Alle mir bekannten Plätze mit Steinpilzen habe ich bisher vergeblich besucht. Nachfolgend einige wenige Pilze, die ich mit meiner Frau zusammen entdecken konnte.
In the past few days we were often out in the forest looking for mushrooms. Unfortunately it hasn't rained much in the Spessart. Mushrooms are scarce in our region, so it is difficult to find suitable photo motives. The forests are empty and I miss the smell of mushrooms. I have visited all places with porcini mushrooms known to me so far in vain. In the following a few mushrooms, which I could discover together with my wife.
Pappel-Schüppling
Hemipholiota populnea
Am Flussufer des Main haben die Bieber zahlreiche Pappeln gefällt. An einem älteren Stamm konnten wir diese Pilzgruppe finden. An diesem Tag war mir jeder Pilz willkommen. Meine Frau zeigte weniger Interesse, da dieser Pilz zum Verzehr nicht geeignet ist.
The beavers have felled numerous poplars on the banks of the Main River. On an older trunk we could find this group of fungi. On this day every mushroom was welcome. My wife showed less interest because this mushroom is not suitable for consumption.

Buntstieliger Helmling ■ Clustered bonnet
Mycena inclinata
Weiter führte uns der Weg im Wald entlang dem Flußtal. An einer etwas feuchteren Stelle zeigten sich diese Helmlinge (Mycena) auf einem Baumstamm. Diese Einladung habe ich gerne angenommen und unterschiedliche Perspektiven mit meiner Kamera ausprobiert.
The trail continued in the forest along the river valley. At a slightly wetter spot these Mycena mushrooms showed up on a tree trunk. I gladly accepted this invitation and tried out different perspectives with my camera.

Auf dem Hasselberg im Spessart führte unser Weg durch einen Buchenwald. Dort oben hatte ich in den vergangenen Jahren immer Pilze gefunden. Aber auch hier waren kaum Pilze zu sehen. Aber bekanntlich finde ich meistens dann doch noch ein Motiv und freue mich, dass ich mein Stativ nicht umsonst mit mir geschleppt habe.
On the Hasselberg in the Spessart, our route led through a beech forest. Up there I had always found mushrooms in the past years. But even here there were hardly any mushrooms to be seen. But as you know, most of the time I do find a motif and I am glad that I didn't carry my tripod with me for nothing.

Bei den beiden nachfolgenden Bildern hatte ich mich für eine Weitwinkelaufnahme entschieden. Mit meiner Bestimmung bin ich mir nicht sicher und muss auf mein Pilzbuch vertrauen. Da ich diesen Pilz nicht sammle, hat eine Verwechslung allerdings keine Folgen.
For the following two pictures I had decided for a wide angle shot. I am not sure about my destiny and have to trust in my mushroom book. Since I do not collect this mushroom, a mistake has however no consequences.

In einigen meiner früheren Beiträge hatte ich schon von dem Buchenwald auf dem Hasselberg berichtet. So komme ich auch diesmal an so manchem Baum nicht vorbei, ohne ihn zu fotografieren. Irgend wie ziehen mich alte Bäume immer wieder in ihren Bann.
In some of my earlier articles I had already reported on the beech forest on the Hasselberg. So this time again I can't get past many a tree without taking a picture of it. Somehow old trees always fascinate me.

Und siehe da, ein weiterer Pilz kreuzt unseren Weg. An eine Bestimmung wage ich mich nicht heran. Wenn jemand eine Idee hat, freue ich mich über eine Nachricht.
And lo and behold, another mushroom crosses our path. I dare not approach a destiny. If anyone has an idea, I would be happy to hear from them.

Krause Glucke ■ Cauliflower fungus

Und dann endlich unser Lieblingspilz die Krause Glucke. Ein frisches und besonders prächtiges Exemplar hatte meine Frau versteckt am Fuß einer alten Kiefer entdeckt. Über diesen Fund haben wir uns besonders gefreut. Der Pilz wurde getrocknet und ein kleiner Teil für eine schmackhafte Suppe verwendet. Wir lieben nicht nur den Geschmack, sondern auch den Duft, welchen er verströmt. Wir geben nicht auf und hoffen auf weitere Funde in den kommenden Tagen.

And then finally our favourite mushroom, the Cauliflower fungus. My wife had discovered a fresh and particularly splendid specimen hidden at the base of an old pine tree. We were especially happy about this find. The mushroom was dried and a small part was used for a tasty soup. We love not only the taste, but also the smell it gives off. We do not give up and hope for more finds in the coming days._
