Welcome to Wordy Wednesday
Wordy Wednesday is the day to use and celebrate Logophilia, the term for someone who loves words in all their forms and uses. Come along with me to discover new words, their meanings, history and uses as well as some other additions like poetry or lyrical genius set to good music.
Challenge yourself to add to your vocabulary and possibly learn something new along the way. Don't forget to include some fun as well
She was but a meek little thing, but full of ebullience, a delight to all those around her. Her cheerful song and bright shining eyes saw magic at every turn. Fairies and gnomes, goblin and trolls - they all made up her little world alongside her family folk.
Her vivacity and effervescence for life was catchy and spread like glee amongst those who met with her, to play or dance to the ever elusive music that only she could hear. It added sparkle to her surroundings.
One day she met a fairy who granted her one wish simply for believing (it kept the fairies alive you know, children having faith knowing they truly were there), she simply smiled and said "I want a real unicorn please and thank you". The fairy was discountenanced by the request as most children wished for very average things like candy or toys. Where on "earth" would a fairy get a real life unicorn?
She enquired with the child "Would a toy unicorn suffice little girl?"
"No, thank you. I'd really like a real life unicorn. All my wishes up until now have been for one and I know that one day my wish will come true if I wish hard enough! Everyone knows that the unicorn is the most magical of all"
The little fairy accepted the challenge and waved goodbye promising to return one day.
The little girl continued to grow and mature and as the years went on, the wishes for a unicorn became fewer and farther between as she focused more on realities of day to day life and all the growing up she had to do.
One day the girl who was now a woman gave birth to a tiny little girl of her own and as the little girl grew from a baby to a little child, she was as buoyant and lively as ever her mother had been. She looked on at her little one playing and finding fairies, she knew that she had brought the most magical little girl into the world. Just like a unicorn, she pranced around gleefully, naying in the air as her mother watched her from the verandah. The fairy whispered in her ear "You never needed to wish for her, you just needed to believe in her as much as you believed in me"
