For many years of my life, I didn't have any trust in myself, I had pretty much 0 confidence. I was being bullied, didn't believe in myself, thought I was gonna be a loser forever and felt terrible about myself and my life in general. Over the years I had to rebuild myself from the ground up (and have done so successfully)!
Below, is one of the most important lesson learned from my journey:
What's the quickest way for someone to lose trust in you?
Simple:
Make promises to them. Say you're gonna show up and help them. Tell them what you're gonna do and achieve in life.
And then do NONE of those things!
Trust is a fragile thing. Once people know that your word means little and that you're never following through on what you say you're gonna do, nobody will trust you from that moment forward.
That's pretty obvious right?
The most important bond of trust
Now, how do you lose trust with yourself?
Pretty much the same way actually:
When you set your alarm early to work, but then you snooze anyway. When you tell yourself you go to the gym today, but watch Netflix instead. When you vow that tonight after work, you start your side hustle, but that never happened either.
With each broken promise to yourself, you lose your own trust in yourself!
Or as it is more commonly called, confidence.
When we don't do the things you promised yourself you would, we're going to be feeling progressively worse about ourselves. It's that cold feeling of knowing you're not even close to living up to your potential.
What all confident people have in common
They have trust in themselves.
In order to build that kind of confidence, the #1 thing to do is to stay true to your own word. Start making more promises to yourself (and other), and make sure to actually keep them!
As you do this, you build trust in yourself because you know you follow through.
But wait, there's more!
As you take more action towards your goals, you also build up your skills and get real world achievements. Which in turn gives you things to be proud of,
Which then boost your confidence!
And so, I'd urge you to start making & keeping those promises to yourself! The longer you remain in inactivity, the worse things will get!
