It was in the late 1980s when I first watched the animated series The Transformers and right at the bat I immediately like it. It was ahead of its time in that decade since robots at that time is not hugely known or common. I can still clearly remember the first episode when the Transformers crash-landed on Earth on board a spaceship from Cybertron.
Since then the Transformers have become very popular in our country. You can see lots of Transformers imagery from clothes, posters, and toys for kids in that decade and the early 1990s. And when the first live-action movie was released in 2007 I made sure that I am going to watch it. After the first movie, five more were made.
In "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" the introduction of "Transwarp Key" and the introduction of other faction of transformers well beyond the earliest history of the Autobots injects a fresh breath of air for the franchise which is no doubt the centerpiece of the narrative of the movie. This transwarp key was previously unknown to me in all of the Transformers movies that I watched including the animated series that I watched in the 1980s.
The animated series of the 1980s has the "Energon Cube" as the centerpiece of the storyline of the entire animated series. The Decepticons would harvest energy from Earth and then store them inside a transparent cube called an "Energon Cube". In the series, the Decepticons frequently mention that they need the Energon cubes to return home to Cybertron.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts movie also has it sense humor of courtesy of one of the supporting cast of the protagonist which gives balance to the movie and provides some breather to whoever is watching. The narrative may be predictable but it is well executed which will not make the viewers to be dismayed or will lost interest in the midst of the movie.
And just like any other movie Transformers: Rise of the Beasts gives an intentional breather for the viewers.
Unlike the past Transformers movies "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" gives viewers a little bit different storyline where one of the protagonists has separate plans instead of just being part of the plans of the other protagonists it is a nice move for the franchise which I think is welcome to most of the viewers.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts also gives viewers another means of reviving a Transformers by another means other than the one that revives Optimus Prime in one of the previous movies and it only goes to show that the franchise can be creative in introducing various means other than those that are known by most of the viewers.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts also does not fail in showing how humble and accountable Optimus Prime is, which I think is very present in all of the previous movies. The movie also gives the viewers amazing landscape views that again give some breather to viewers including the image below.
I also love how the movie is very creative in creating ways for how the protagonists in accomplishing their mission. Although I have seen a similar idea before I commend the movie for adding not only the commonly used insignia but also those that haven't been introduced in the live-action movies.
And then the movie was further impressed by some unexpected element that I am sure not every viewer will be able to guess, nice job for the scriptwriters. The script is also very successful in showing the humanity of one of the protagonists.
Nearing the conclusion, the movie did something that the viewers could have never imagined that made it unique to all of the previous iterations of Transformers and there is also a surprise that I believe every viewer already forgot.
The movie's ending had me very surprised and made me think about the next movie which all the previous movies never did.
All-in-all this iteration of the Transformers has made itself very unique and stands out from the rest of the previous movies. Although I do not like the appearance of Optimus Prime in this movie as opposed to his appearances in the previous movies his character is not lost he is still the same Optimus Prime in terms of character and how he talks and still very humble.
It is a job well done for the franchise and it captures my imagination on what will come next. With that being said, this movie made me want to see the next iteration of the Transformers although I am sure we will wait for some years before we are going to see another one. Could there be a direct sequel to this one? I am optimistic. But one thing for sure the next Transformers movie will have a direct link to this one if we are going to take into account the ending of the movie.
