Smiley, a TV Show in which you go from :) to -_-

Hello my dear friends of Movies & Reviews, I hope you are watching a lot of stories on TV, hehe. In this installment I will bring you a series that I thought was a horror. I don't usually talk bad about what I watch, because usually when I don't like something, I don't even feel like writing about it, but I will do it because I didn't like it, but for a very particular reason, and it's the same strategy that the series has to keep the viewer hooked until the end.

SPOILER ALERT!!! It is likely that from the very first moment I will start to let out more information about the series, because simply, it doesn't vary too much, so if you haven't seen it and you feel like doing it, I recommend you not to keep reading.

Also, in case you don't like the subject matter of sexual diversity, I don't recommend you stick to the post, as this series is almost exclusively about that.

Smiley, una serie en la que pasas de :) a -_-

Hola mis queridos amigos de Movies & Reviews, espero que estén viendo muchas historias en la tele, jeje. En esta entrega les traeré una serie que me pareció un espanto. No suelo hablar mal de lo que veo, porque por lo general cuando algo no me gusta, no me dan ni ganas de escribir sobre ello, pero lo haré porque no me gustó, pero por un motivo muy particular, y es la misma estrategia que tiene la serie para mantener al espectador enganchado hasta el final.

ALERTA SPOILER!! Es probable que desde el primer momento empiece a dejar salir más información de la serie, porque sencillamente, no varía demasiado, así que si no la has visto y tenés ganas de hacerlo, te recomiendo que no sigas leyendo.

Además, en caso de que no te guste la temática de diversidad sexual, no te recomiendo que te quedes en el post, ya que esta serie es casi exclusiva sobre eso.

When I started watching it and until the second episode, the series grabbed me. I wanted to know what was going on, I found it very funny and also very realistic, since the main theme of the series revolves around the LGTBIQ+ community, because its main character is gay. Beyond the fact that I love the subject matter, of course I prefer it with girls, but I decided to watch it because I love the work of the main actor, Carlos Cuevas, and because apparently there was a story of two girls in the plot. I didn't have too much to see, it was a bit set at Christmas and I said, well, let's see what this is about.

As I was telling you, I had a lot of fun the first two episodes and also I really liked how they approach the "gay" theme, both for men and women, because it is very close to reality, so I was interested about it.

Cuando la empecé a ver y hasta el segundo episodio, la serie me atrapó. Quería saber qué pasaba, me apreció muy graciosa y también muy realista, pues el tema principal de la serie gira en torno a la comunidad LGTBIQ+, porque su personaje principal es homosexual. Más allá de que me encanta la temática, claro que la prefiero de chicas, pero decidí verla porque me encantan los trabajos del actor principal, Carlos Cuevas, y porque aparentemente había una historia de dos chicas en la trama. No tenía demasiado para ver, estaba un poco ambientada en la Navidad y dije, bueno, a ver de qué va esto.

Como les comentaba, me divertí mucho los dos primeros episodios y además me gustó mucho cómo abordan el tema “gay”, tanto para hombres como para mujeres, porque es muy cercano a la realidad, entonces me enganché.

The thing is, the series starts with a guy sending a waste audio to an acquaintance, but he actually gets the wrong number and sends it to a stranger, who also happens to be gay. They decide to go on a blind date and on the date it becomes clear that they detest each other, but there is a great attraction between them, something quite contradictory.

The two, proud in the extreme, want to talk to each other, but neither is encouraged to take the first step, and when one does, the other does not respond when he really wanted to respond.

El tema es que la serie comienza con un chico enviando un audio de despecho a un conocido, pero en verdad se equivoca de número y se lo manda a un desconocido, que casualmente también es gay. Deciden tener una cita a ciegas y en la cita queda claro que se detestan, pero entre ellos hay una gran atracción, algo bastante contradictorio.

Los dos, orgullosos en extremo, quieren hablar uno con el otro, pero ninguno se anima a dar el primer paso, y cuando uno lo da, el otro no responde cuando en verdad quería responder.

Very nice, but... THE WHOLE SERIES PASSES LIKE THIS. There's no progress, there's nothing, and every time it seems like something has happened, it's a story the characters create in their minds about what they want to happen, but it doesn't happen because of pride. You literally spend the entire series waiting for something concrete to happen between these two guys.

In this context, I did think it was good to address how sometimes you assume what another person thinks and/or wishes, and just say or do such a thing precisely because you've created a movie in your head, when maybe he or she doesn't think that. And at the same time, I also liked this approach of pride taken to the extreme and how by such a rigid stance you can miss the opportunity to get to know a great person.

Muy lindo, pero… TODA LA SERIE TRANSCURRE ASÍ. No hay avances, no hay nada, y cada vez que parece que algo ha pasado, se trata de una historia que crean los personajes en su mente sobre lo que desean que ocurre, pero no ocurre debido al orgullo. Te pasas literalmente toda la serie esperando que se dé algo concreto entre estos dos chicos.

En este contexto, sí me pareció bueno el abordar como a veces uno supone lo que otra persona piensa y/o desea, y se limita a decir o hacer tal cosa justamente porque ha creado una película en su cabeza, cuando quizás el o la otra no piensan eso. Y al mismo tiempo, también me gustó este abordaje del orgullo llevado al extremo y cómo por una postura tan rígida podés perderte la oportunidad de conocer a una gran persona.

I really think they exaggerated in the how, I mean, it was very good, but as I say, two episodes, because in the end it became a flat story that had neither salt nor pepper for the viewer.

However, even though the central story has the aforementioned characteristics, I really liked the parallel stories. For example, you get to see a heterosexual man, married with daughters, who is going through a vocational crisis; a couple of two girls who are going through a couple crisis; a man over 50 who is encouraged to come out of the closet. Yes, I think all that is very nice because in those little stories, which expand quite a lot, they deal with very specific details with which many people can feel identified, I think that's good when we watch a series or movie.

Realmente creo que exageraron en el cómo, a ver, estuvo muy bueno, pero como digo, dos episodios, porque al final se convirtió en una historia chata que no tenía ni sal ni pimienta para el espectador.

Sin embargo aunque la historia central tiene las características mencionadas, sí me gustaron mucho las historias paralelas. Por ejemplo, se puede ver a un hombre heterosexual, casado con sus hijas, que está atravesando una crisis vocacional; una pareja de dos chicas que están atravesando una crisis de pareja; un hombre de más de 50 años que se anima a salir del clóset. Sí creo que todo eso es muy bonito porque además en esas pequeñas historias, que amplían bastante, se tratan detalles muy puntuales con los que muchas personas se pueden sentir identificadas, creo que eso está bueno cuando vemos una serie o película.
