I watched this movie yesterday with my friends at a nearby cinema hall, and it was fun to watch. This movie is full of action, and it was lovely to see Tom Holland play another role. Undoubtedly it is a good movie but not a great movie. I wouldn't call it a family movie because there was a lot of cursing in the movie. But still, the movie turned out considerably better than I expected. I was cautiously optimistic with the trailer and predicted Tom Holland to play a young Nathan Drake character, and he sure did his best. He was fine in the role; he totally embraced it as a younger version of the character. I adore how he is presented as a street-smart dude who has a good bad-boy side as he flirts with customers to get near to them before he picks pockets. I enjoyed this movie.
Likewise, well-cast Tom Holland as Nate is acceptable, Mark Wahlberg, while not as conceivable as Sully, is endearing and has winks that make him a chummy little Sully. Sophia Taylor Ali is renowned as Chloe Frazer, and Tati Gabrielle makes a treacherous baddie. The dynamics between characters like Holland and Wahlberg worked out fairly oK. Chloe and all the additional supporting characters are satisfactory too, nothing extraordinary, but they all did a fair job.
Despite this, I got a little Peter Parker vibes in Tom Holland from inside the movie. The action is fun, though solid for the most part despite relying heavily on CGI. Well done with what Tom Holland has delivered. I comprehend casting Tom Holland as a young Nate. Tom is a good actor, but he plays Peter Parker in most parts of this movie. He doesn't deliver anything unique, unlike what we've witnessed earlier, which I found to be a bit disappointing.
I think Sully didn't look much like Sully in this movie. They turn him into someone more obsessed with treasure than Nathan, which is kind of reversed in the games. Mark Wahlberg isn't "Sully" in the most little while comes across as an angry Mark Wahlberg. And Mark Wahlberg was such an uncommon pick for the movie. I encountered that Wahlberg's Sully is somewhat dissimilar from what you notice in the game, though it ultimately develops on you. I didn't feel there lived much chemistry between Mark and Tom in this movie, not until the ending.
The action doesn't pick up pace until the last 20 minutes of the movie, with a few entertaining scenes showing flying pirates wrecking ships. Outside of that, it's average mainly. However, it was excellent for a video-game adaptation. It is nearer to National Treasure in its significance as a movie in the treasure quest category. Nowhere around the Indiana Jones trilogy while considerably sounder than the fourth. Its narrative is exceedingly predictable and poorly written, and I felt that things could have been tricky for the characters.
The plot is superficial despite being well done and at a breakneck pace. The movie is full of surprises, twists and turns. The characters stab each other in the back like crazy. Based on the "Uncharted" video game, the story is an absurd ride that oftentimes makes no meaning. "Uncharted" hops up like a rocket and quickly relinquishes its momentum after 10 minutes. The opening scene was unneeded; they could have offered it an hour afterwards to bring the audience's attention so that they, too, had something to peek ahead to. As far as the story is concerned. It was feeble. Riddle, if you like to name them, those were relatively simple, the action was good, and the most prominent action scene is already revealed in the trailer. These are my opinions. After watching the movie, you can decide for yourself.
As a standalone movie, it's alright. Nonetheless, it could have been much more extensive and an actual modern Indiana Jones if solely there had been a more reasonable Sully and possibly a more determined director with a rich script, including tons of truly amusing puzzles and a fortune of enjoyment. It has a gripping cliff-hanger in the post-credits scene; I hope it turns out to be financially successful, and they produce a sequel—7 out of 10 as a movie, 5 to 6 out of 10 as an Uncharted movie. If you are a fanatic of this game, you will indeed like this movie.
Should you see it? Yea. Uncharted is an excellent action-adventure film, which is very much appreciated by the audience.
Should you ask this question? Nada. The more you judge, the more untrue it becomes.
In brief, it was an entertaining movie. I am sure you will have a wonderful time if you are a fan of good action and adventure movies. I can't wait for the sequel.
