I'm a fan of the Survival genre, especially Zombies, Infected and the Post-apocalyptic world and I was finally able to see Ziam, a film that was very popular when it was released and had mixed reviews, but after seeing it, the phrase that best defines it for me is I came for the zombies and stayed for the fights. because the film draws attention mainly for being a Zombie film, but in the film you see a greater effort in the fights, but what is Ziam about:
Soy un fan del género de Supervivencia en especial de Zombies, Infectados y mundo Postapocalípticos y al fin pude ver Ziam una película que sonó mucho en su estreno y tuvo criticas mixtas pero que después de verlas la frase que mejor la define para mi es vine por los infectados, pero me quedé por las peleas porque la película llama la atención principalmente por ser de Zombie pero en la película se ve un mayor esfuerzo en las peleas pero de que va Ziam:

Ziam is a Thai film distributed worldwide by Netflix since June 9, 2025 of the Action and Zombies genres set in a devastated world where resources are scarce and a strange element originating from some fish turns people into violent infected in a hospital where a new protagonist will have to make his way to rescue his partner, an employee of the place.
Ziam es una película tailandesa distribuida a nivel mundial por Netflix desde el 9 de junio del 2025 de los géneros Accion y Zombies ambientada en un mundo devastado donde los recursos son escasos y un extraño elemento originado por unos peces convierten a las personas en infectados violentos en un hospital donde nuevo protagonista tendrá que abrirse camino para rescatar a su pareja una empleada del lugar.
HOSPITAL
I must say that at the top of the places not to be in a Zombie/Infected apocalypse is a medical center of any kind since they are places with many people with different health conditions, with very strict protocols and many moods in the environment which is the formula for chaos and that makes it one of the best places to make a film of this style and in Ziam that is one of the strong points that reminds me of a scene from another older film Planet Terror from 2007 where you see a fight of the protagonist and you feel an inspiration in it.
Debo decir que en el top de lugares donde no estar en un apocalipsis de Zombies/Infectados es un centro médico de cualquier tipo ya que son lugares con muchas personas con diferentes estados de salud, con protocolos muy estrictos y muchos estados de ánimos en el ambiente lo cual es la formula del caos y eso hace que sea de los mejores lugares para hacer un película de este estilo y en Ziam eso se uno de los punto fuerte que me recuerdan a una escena de otra película más antigua Planet Terror del 2007 donde se ve una lucha del protagonista e se siente una inspiración en ella.
INFESTED | INFESTADOS

Con unos infectados interesante pero que no se exploran mucho ni que tipo de infección es solo se ve que comen la carne cocinada y se transforman los primeros infectados, pero no se dice si el mutágeno es un parasito resistentes, una bacteria, un virus, un químico, una maldición o una obra de dios y estar habitada la película en un hospital teniendo una oportunidad para dar información como viendo una muestra en un microscopio para resolver algunas preguntas sino que genera mas preguntas con las mutaciones que se ven con el agua.

One of the most interesting things about the film is the world where everything is set, giving us a very interesting beginning of a devastated world and with society on a balance between a semi-functional society in populated areas and anarchy in the areas furthest from civilization, giving it color palettes that differentiate them very intensely, making me want to see more of what that world is like and what a sequel set in another place or in an entire city would be like.
Una de las cosas mas interesantes de la película es el mundo donde se ambienta todo dándonos un comienzo muy interesante del mundo devastado y con la sociedad en una balanza entre una sociedad medio funcional en zonas pobladas y una anarquía en las zonas mas alejadas de la civilización dándole unas paletas de colores que las diferencia muy intensamente haciéndome querer ver mas de como es ese mundo y como seria una secuela ubicada en otro lugar o en toda una ciudad.
FIGHTS | PELEAS
And the action part is very good with very funny and well-planned scenes and choreography with a former Muay Thai fighter protagonist who comes across very well on screen with that fighting style so much that you forget the fact that he is repeatedly hitting beings infected with who knows what infection with his bare hands.
Y en la parte de la acción es muy buena con escenas y coreografías muy divertidas y muy bien planeadas con un protagonista ex luchador de muay thai que queda muy bien en pantalla ese estilo de pelea tanto que se te olvida el hecho que esta golpeando muchas veces en la cabeza a seres infectados con quien sabe que infección a mano desnuda.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS | PERSONAJES SECUNDARIOS
In the area of characters and acting they are good, not the best, but most of the characters are well written, especially several secondary characters where you are not fooled, they are secondary characters in a very bad situation and you know they will die, while the acting and behavior of the actors who functioned as the infected do very well, you see several scenes of the typical action that are seen in many films of the genre, they do not reinvent anything, but they are very convincing.
En el área de personajes y actuación son buenos no los mejores pero la mayoría de personajes están bien escritos en especial a varios personajes secundarios donde no te engañan son personajes secundarios en una situación muy mala y sabes que morirán mientras la actuación y comportamiento de los actores que funcionaban como los infectados lo hacen muy bien se ven varias escenas de la típica acción que se ven en muchas películas del genero no reinventan nada, pero son muy convincentes.
SCENARIOS | ESCENARIOS
And in the visual section, both the photography, effects, makeup and sets are good and complement each other very well. One of the things I notice the most is if an infected person seems to have a bigger budget than the corpses or the sets, making them look very simple and mediocre, but here everything is fine.
Y en el apartado visual tanto la fotografía, efectos, los maquillajes y escenarios están bien y se complementan muy bien siendo una de las cosas que mas me fijo donde si un infectados se ven con mas presupuesto que los cadáveres o los escenarios hace que se ven muy simples y mediocres, pero aquí todo bien.
BAD THINGS | COSAS MALAS
I think for me the 2 worst things about Ziam were from least important to most important were the editing of the film, especially in transition scenes like when you see what happens in the building being poorly cut and using a blur to connect them, and the worst thing are the villains or antagonists and their henchmen who feel empty with motivations that try to be strong but that are not well developed in the film which is a strong point in almost every zombie story as the nature of the antagonist characters is discovered and how this situation affects or changes them but here the villains are flat and the henchmen are just an excuse to have fights like other humans as if it were nothing more than a final boss.
Creo que para mí las 2 cosas peores de Ziam fueron de la menos importante a la más importante fueron la edición de la película en especial en escenas de transiciones como cuando se ve lo que pasa en el edificio siendo mal cortadas y usando un difuminado para conectarlas, y la peor cosa son los vilanos o antagonistas y sus secuaces que se sienten vacíos con motivaciones que intentan ser fuerte pero que no se desarrolla bien en la película lo cual es un punto fuerte en casi toda historia de zombies como se descubren la naturaleza de los personajes antagonistas y como los afecta o los cambio esta situación pero aquí los villanos son planos y los secuaces son solo una escusa para tener peleas como otros humanos como si fuera un jefe final nada más.
FINAL OPINION | OPINION FINAL
As a Zombie/Infected movie, it won't be a Dawn of the Dead that fulfills everything or Cargo where it leans more towards drama, Ziam is an action movie with the added bonus of being from this genre that doesn't make it bad, it's an entertaining movie where you can watch it without thinking deeply about every aspect of it and see it like any martial arts movie.
Como película de Zombies/Infectados no será un El amanecer de los muertos que cumple en todo o Cargo donde es se inclina más al drama, Ziam es una película de acción con el plus de ser de este genero que no la hace mala es una película entretenida donde verla sin pensar en profundidad cada aspecto de ella y ver como cualquier película de artes marciales.
