Hello friends!
There are TV shows that remind us of others, and the one I'm going to comment evokes other very popular ones. If you were a fan of Lost, this little-known series will remind you a lot, and it's also based somehow on one of Agatha Christie's famous works, The Little Niggers (also known as And Then There Were None). It's this context and plot that caught my attention and made me decide to watch it...
And what TV show am I talking about? This TV show is called Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue, created by MGM+, and it has been not very popular really but interesting and entertaining, so that's why I want to share it here in order you can know it. And at least in Spain (called "Nueve Cuerpos") it's available on AXN channel.
Let's tell something about this TV show. Here my review:
What is this about?
It's about a group of people traveling on a small plane from South America to the United States. It's one of those commercial flights, but managed by a small company (named Aeroflux) and for a small number of travelers. But the plane ends up crashing in a Mexican jungle, and that's when things start to happen. Are they involved?
As you can see, the protagonist is a plane (like in Lost), and the passengers end up lost in a jungle, where they must survive. But in this case, everyone begins to suspect everyone else, because little by little they are dying, one after another... who will be next?
Seeing that first the pilot has died, supposedly from injuries from the accident, and the flight attendant, but then one passenger, then another, and another... they all begin to talk about their lives before the trip, what they were doing in Guatemala, and why they were returning to the United States. But are they telling the truth? Are they hiding something, ulterior motives? The fact is that while they boil water to drink and think about how to survive while waiting to be rescued, not everyone trusts each other. Suspicion grows, and fewer and fewer remain. Is there a murderer among them? This is very reminiscent of an Agatha Christie novel, isn't it?
Actually, the series begins in another part of Mexico, hot, arid and sandy, with some people trying to enter a seemingly secure facility. Inside, bodies are being housed in a large morgue. Yes, as the title of the series says, there are nine bodies in that Mexican morgue, found in the jungle, but they also found ten passports. What happened? Is there only one survivor?
The characters
Honestly, I don't know any of the actors; they're not the most popular, but they actually play a good role. Also, the series being quite short doesn't allow time to delve too deeply into each of them, although some become more central. Then we start to wonder if any of them are lying about their lives, if they have other plans, if they've disguised themselves to carry out the deaths of the others.
Anything else to comment?
The most important thing is the plot, full of mystery. And the title sounds cool. Many questions and suspense keep us guessing about all the characters, and betting on who will survive, and the reason for it all. But in the end, some are predictable, but something else is not so much... and that's the good thing, it surprises us.
Another point worth mentioning is the intro music... because after the first few minutes of the introduction, in the title, a drawing of the jungle from the air with visible drawings, a very famous song plays: Sweet Dreams (by Eurithmics)
I have been telling so much, it's better to enjoy the TV show by yourselves. There is just one season of just six episodes! So it's really easy and fast to watch and figure out the mystery! Take a look!
