Something that I have learned over time is that things take on great meaning in our lives when we go through many experiences. These experiences fill us with wisdom and help us understand things better, giving us a great perspective. This is my case with the world of cinema and literature, when I face the analysis of a work in my mind many hypotheses are woven. This is the beauty of art, when a story takes on a kind of life in us and we can interpret it according to our own experiences and make them known. This is the case with the movie The Truman Show starring Jim Carrey.
Algo que he aprendido con el pasar del tiempo es que las cosas cobran un gran significado en nuestras vidas cuando pasamos por muchas experiencias. Estas vivencias nos llenan de sabiduría y nos ayudan a entender mejor las cosas dandonos una gran perspectiva. Este es mi caso con el mundo del cine y la literatura, cuando me enfrento al analisis de una obra en mi mente se tejen muchas hipótesis. Esto es lo hermoso del arte, cuando una historia cobra en nosotros una especie de vida y podemos interpretarla segun nuestras propias vivencias y darlas a conocer. Este es el caso de la pelicula El Show de Truman protagonizada por Jim carrey.
Jim Carrey in one of his first dramatic roles where he makes it clear that he is apt for these challenges, he lives in an idyllic and quiet town, a true utopia. He has a beautiful wife, a good job and his life goes by without many problems, however within him there are many concerns that will grow with the passing of history.
Jim Carrey en uno de sus primeros papeles dramático donde nos deja en claro que esta apto para estos desafíos, vive en un pueblo idílico y tranquilo, una verdadera utopía. Tiene una hermosa esposa, un buen tabajo y su vida transcurre sin muchos problemas, sin embargo dentro de él existen muchas inquietudes que irán creciendo con el pasar de la historia.

Un buen día cuando se dirigía al trabajo Truman ve como del cieo cae una lámpara, se acerca y la levanta y se da cuenta que tiene las palabras Syrius, haciendo referencia a la estrella. Este hecho sumado a otros le darán a entender que algo muy raro está sucediendo cerca de él. Para nosotros el espectador queda muy claro que Truman es observado y vigilado, pero nuestro rol como espectadores es acompañar a Truman a decubrir la verdad. En las películas donde se plantea la realidad del hombre siempre hay un hecho que ayuda al protagonista a establecer un puente entre la realidad y la ilusión, por ejempo si recordamos Matrix, Neo, el protagonista tiene aquel encuentro con el gato negro que para él se presenta como un Deja Vu, Truman por su parte es una lámpara del cielo que suplanta la existencia de una estrella. Podríamos decir que esta lámpara que cae del cielo representa una luz falsa, una luz artificial, y con luz nos referimos a conocimiento, es decir: Truman esta rodeado por un conocimiento que es falso, y esta falsedad está a punto de derrumbarse.

Truman is a product, a merchandise managed by an ambitious film director who has made Truman's life the most watched show on planet earth. When I saw the movie for the first time, it seemed incredible and at the same time funny that a corporation could buy a child even before he was born. That's right, truman is owned by a corporation and he can do whatever he wants with his life. In Truman's world it seems that no one has a problem with this fact, no one questions how terrible it is. We also see how Truman is watched as a child and every aspect of his life is marketed in mugs, caps, T-shirts, shoes, and an audience falsely concerned about the drama surrounding Truman.
La terrible verdad que rodea a Truman es que nada es real, su mundo, su pueblo, sus padres, sus amigos, su trabajo incluso el amor por su esposa es ficticio. Truman es un producto, una mercancía manejada por un ambicioso director de cine que ha hecho de la vida de Truman el show mas visto en el planeta tierra. Cuando vi la película por primera vez me parecia increible y a la vez chistoso que una corporación pudiera comprar a un niño incluso antes de nacer. Asi es, truman es propiedad de una corporación y puede hacer con su vida lo que quiera. En el mundo de Truman parece que nadie tiene problemas con este hecho, nadie se cuestiona lo terrible de esto. Tambien vemos como Truman es observado desde niño y cada aspecto de su vida es comercializado en tazas, gorras, franelas, zapatos y una audiencia falsamente preocupada por el drama en torno a Truman.

Y ya que estamos hablando de corporaciones poderosas hablemos del director de la vida de Truman. Ed Harris da vida a Christof, si analizamos el nombre de Truman encontramos True- Man, el hombre de la verdad y contra parte encontramos al director cuyo nombre es Christ- Off lo que vendria a significar Sin Dios, o en lugar de Dios. Este director manipula cada aspecto de la vida de Truman, lo ha formado con sus propias ideas creyendo lo que es mejor para Truman como Dios hizo a Adan con barro con sus propias manos. Le dio a Truman el mejor lugar del mundo para vivir, un jardin del Eden llamado Sea-Heaven. Este hombre no solo le ha dado cosas aparentemete buenas a Truman tambien le ha dado cosas malas, le ha dado el miedo, traumas y pesadillas. El miedo infundido en su creación le permite crear una jaula para que Truman nunca tenga deseos de escaparse ni de conocer la verdad, pero este dios terrenal va perdiendo poco a poco el control a medida que Truman va decubriendo que todo es un engaño.

Otro hecho que me parece absurdo totalmente y que es recurrente en la pelicula es que la esposa de Truman se la pasa haciendo publicidas a muchos productos. Siempre me fijé en la mirada de esta mujer cuando hablaba con Truman y hacía la publicidad, nunca parpadeaba, su cara lucía una expresión forzada y nunca mostraba ninguna clase de emoción. Cuando trataba de empatizar con Truman su rostro solo dejaba ver aspectos de manipulación. Debemos resaltar que esta mujer como todas las personas que aparecen en el Show de Truman son actores, pagados por el mismo director, quiere decir que ellos tambien son mercancia y productos del director. Si hablamos en un lenguaje mas claro esta chica representa un evidente caso de trata de esclavos y de blancas. Pues ella bajo un contrato por dinero acepta ser la esposa de Truman al igual que el que acepta ser su amigo de la infancia, su supuesta madre y todos los que le rodean.

En el Show de Truman no solo permiten la esclavitud de niños, la trata de personas y violación de la privacidad. Tambien la manipulación a través de la publicidad. Este hecho lo mencioné anteriormente cuando mencioné a la esposa de Truman, ella es quien más abusa de este recurso en la película. Hay un instante cuando Truman esta en shock y le cuenta a sus esposa todo lo que ha sucedido, ella con absooluta frialdad reacciona haciendo la publicidad de un café de Nicaragua, cuando termina Truman la observa sorprendido al darse cuenta de que su propia esposa no le prestó atención sino que parece ser parte de la conspiración pues Truman advierte que ella con sus gestos parece hablarle a otras personas y no a él. Truman no puede confiar en nadie, ni siquiera en su propia esposa y es fiel reflejo de la sociedad actual. Tal vez en la época que se estrenó esta pelicula el problema era pasar demasiado tiempo en TV y vivir encerrado en las publicidades. Ahora creo que es peor, pueden estar 10 personas en un bar sentados en una mesa tomando alcohol y nadie se mira a los rostros, todos saben que estan ahí pero a nadie le importa, solo les importa lo que hay en las pantallas de sus telefonos celulares. Nadie presta atención a una buena historia, a una simple anécdota, más alla de eso te interrumpen para mostrarte cualquier clase de video estúpido que se encuentran en la red, y al igual que Truman tu pondras la misma expresión al darte cuenta que estas solo.

Truman retoma su día a día normal hasta cuando llega la noche. Decide esconderse de las cámaras que lo vigilan y desaparecer de los ojos de su creador. El director se percata y ordena a todos a buscar a Truman en el estudio que es el pueblo. Todos los buscan y al parecer el ha desaparecido totalmente. Hasta que luego aparece en el mar, navegando en un bote. La determinación de Truman es tan grande que se enfrenta a su mayor miedo. Nada puede ya detenerlo.

Truman solo puede escucharlo, el director le dice toda la verdad, y al decirlo le dice que todo lo hizo por su bien, le dice a Truman que que el ha creado el mundo perfecto para el y que fuera de ese mundo perfecto solo hay cosas horribles para las que Truman no esta preparado. Hace un contraste entre la ilusion y la verdad para que Truman elija seguir engañado. El barco de Truman choca con lo que parece ser una pared y Truman se acerca para tocar, ha llegado al limite de la ilusion, mas alla de esa pared se encuentra la verdad y una voz del cielo que trata de persuadirlo. Obviando todos los abusos cometidos contra Truman desde que estaba en el vientre de su madre, a Truman solo le interesa ser libre para conocer la verdad.

Al final Truman usa el libre albedrio y por primera vez hace una decision propia en su vida, sube por unas escaleras y se encuentra al final de ellas una puerta que conduce a la oscuridad. Sube por ellas y abriendo sus manos se despide de su creador y se va de la ilusion y entra en la verdad. Me llama mucho la atencion esta escena porque es la ascención de Truman a la verdad y el conocimiendo, asciende a la iluminación. Hace un gesto con sus brazos abriendolos en forma de cruz representanto a Cristo, al verdadero cristo que antes se enfrentó a la muerte y la venció. Ahora en su victoria va por el camino de la verdad
This movie is simply great, I think that no one better than Jim Carrey to have starred in it displaying all his acting skills. The story and its proposals are abundant in symbologies and metaphors that it would be necessary to write a book about it. Its validity for today is tremendous if we analyze it in depth, because although it made a criticism at the time, today more than 20 years later it is still more current. In some societies, TV is adhered to and its dominance has been relegated to the background with the appearance of smartphones and social networks. Today's society is more self-absorbed than ever, on the lookout for empty personalities such as modern "influencers" who represent the extreme decadence of the most absurd entertainment. Esta pelicula es sencillamente genial, pienso que nadie mejor que Jim Carrey para haberla protagonizado desplegando todos sus dotes actorales. La historia y su propuestas son abundantes en simbologías y metáforas que haría falta escribir un libro sobre ella. Su validez para la actualidad es tremenda si la analizamos en profundidad, porque si bien plnateó una crítica en su momento, hoy mas de 20 años despues sigue mas vigente. En algunas sociedad ades la TV y su dominio ha quedado relegado a un segundo plano con la aparicion de los telefonos inteligentes y las redes sociales. La sociedad de hoy esta mas ensimismada que nunca, al pendiente de personalidades vacía como los modernos "influencers" que representan la decadencia extrema del mas absurdo entretenimiento. Niños como Truman son presentados como pequeñas figuras de circo haciendo cosas para divertir a un monton de desconocidos y un sin fin de otras cosas que haria falta otra publicación para mencionarlas. Personalmente soy de las persona que me gusta cuestionar las cosas todo el tiempo y no simplemente cuando estoy en presencia de alguna película. Verla cada ciert tiempo me entrega informacion nueva y algunas reflexiones pasadas por alto.
