¡Buenas mis panas cinefilos y amantes del cine! continuamos con la reseñas sobre la ficción y en este caso de la ficción combinada con el horror, la legendaria cinta de Jhon Carpenter, sera el objeto de análisis de hoy en la cual nos iremos situando en los eventos posteriores a la precuela del 2011 a la cual también le hize una Review, pero antes de comenzar, una advertencia, esta película pese a ser hecha en 1982, utiliza efectos practicas, que en otras palabras hace que el mounstruo, la Cosa, se vea grotescamente realista, ténganlo en cuenta antes de ver la película o las imágenes que aquí aparecerán.

La película va a comenzar con nuestro pana Lars y el piloto, persiguiendo al perro en el helicóptero como en el final de la precuela de 2011, se nota que Lars nunca fue al curso de manejo de armas porque por más cerca que este del perro no le acierta ni una vez, la persecución termina en una base de investigación Estadounidense, donde otro grupo de científicos estaban en su tiempo libre hasta que Lars aterriza apuradamente dejando caer accidentalmente una bomba, volando al helicóptero y al piloto ahí mismo, los demás salen, los demás miembros de la base salen para ver que sucede, pero un inquieto Lars les grita en Noruego y como estos no lo entienden se desespera, disparandole al canino e hiriendo a uno de los miembros de la base con una herida de bala, Lars sin embargo no dura mucho, pues el comandante le propina un certero disparo en la cabeza, quitandole la vida.
The movie starts with our buddy Lars and the pilot, chasing the dog in the helicopter as in the end of the 2011 prequel, you can tell that Lars never went to the weapons handling course because no matter how close he gets to the dog he doesn't hit him once, the chase ends at an American research base, where another group of scientists were in their free time until Lars lands in a hurry accidentally dropping a bomb, The other members of the base come out to see what is happening, but a restless Lars shouts at them in Norwegian and as they do not understand him, he gets desperate, shooting the canine and wounding one of the members of the base with a bullet wound, Lars however does not last long, as the commander shoots him in the head, taking his life.
Evidentemente, todo el mundo queda en shock por los sucesos y los científicos de la base pretenden buscar explicaciones siguiendo la ruta de la que provenía Lars, no les toma mucho tiempo darse cuenta de que este venia de una base noruega cercana que quedaba a algunos cuantos kilómetros, primero intentan contactar tanto con la base como con la las oficinas de Estados unidos para informar acerca de los sucesos, pero debido a feroz clima nevado no tienen éxito alguno, deciden entonces ir ellos mismos a la base en Helicóptero y ver que es lo que sucede, mientras un par de científicos viajan a la base donde se dieron los eventos de la precuela, el "perro" que intentaba asesinar Lars deambula sospechosamente por las instalaciones, cuando los cientificos que aterrizan en la base de los noruegos, encuentran todo el lugar destrozado y congelado, con los restos de una abominación que no se sabe exactamente que es, quemada en el medio de la base, estos deciden llevar para analizar a los restos de la criatura.

La primera orden de MacReady es drogar a los más sospechosos, atartlos y amarrarlos hasta que se consigan otras maneras para identificar quien es humano y quien no, los miembros de la base siguen las ordenes tratando de confiar en MacReady, pero la confianza no le dura mucho con los demas, ya que en la nieve se encuentran restos de ropa rasgada con el nombre de MacReady, dando a entender que MacReady esta infectado o es parte de algún plan para quitarlo del mando, en todo caso, quien encuentra estas evidencias termina siendo quemado y mas tarde encontrado por un grupo que se habia percatado de su ausencia, uno de ellos encuentra los restos de ropa rasgados de MacReady y les dice a los demás que posiblemente, el sea uno de ellos, nadie toma riesgos y proceden a sellas las entradas y las salidas con madera, dejando a MacReady a la intemperie en medio de una potente tormenta de nieve, pero este consigue adentrarse en las instalaciones y armado con una dinamita, amenaza al grupo, la tensión es tan densa que se puede cortar, pero súbitamente a uno de los miembros deja de respirar e improvisan para curarlo.

Mientras trataban de revivir al tipo, Macready se dfiende de las acusaciones que señalan que el es un extraterrestre, todos estan inquietos porque esta armado con lanzallamas y dinamita, incluso los hay quienes amenazan con atacarlo de noche, pero lo que no se esperaban es que el sujeto que estaba siendo revivido, era el alienigena, asesinando al doctor, y transformandose nuevamente en una pesadilla viviente, MacReady no tarda en quemar a la criatura, pero mientras una parte se consumia por las llamas, otra parte de del organismo se separa y lentamente, va transformandose en una forma de aspecto arácnido, pese a todo el caos, MacReady logra quemar a ambos seres y se hace con el control de la situación otra vez.

Para por fin distinguir humanos de cosas, a MAcReady se le ocurre hacer pruebas con el cable caliente y con las sangre de todos los presentes en la base, bajo la premisa de que este ser, este organismo, reacciona con todas sus celulas ante posibles amenazas incluida la sangre, pocos estan convencidos de que esto pueda funcionar, lo que provoca que uno intente atacar a MacReady por sorpresa, pero siendo ejecutado en el proceso, ahora viendo que MacReady esta dispuesto a llegar tan lejos, todos no tienen de otra que obedecer y hacer la prueba, las pruebas tiene éxito identificando a la criatura, desembocando en una horripilante transformación que termina infectando a Windows y poniendo en peligro al resto, pese a todo, tanto Windows como la criatura quedan incinerados, escuchándose de fondo los lamentos de la cosa, finalizando las pruebas, ahora todos estan seguros de que son humanos.

Al menos todos los que residen en la base, porque si recordamos, el doctor conocido como Blair aun esta en las afueras, sabiendo que el ultimo que queda por hacerse la prueba, los sobrevivientes proceden a buscarlo en su cabina, para sorpresa de nadie, no lo encuentran, pero lo que si fue alarmante, fue descubrir un pasadizo bajo la cabaña que ocultaba lo que parecía ser una nave espacial, posteriormente la energía en la base se corta y los miembros restantes del grupo se dan cuenta de que Blair o la cosa, están intentando congelarse nuevamente para así tener otra oportunidad para escapar e infectar a los rescatistas que los encuentren, conscientes de que no sobreviviente al duro invierno, toman la decisión de volar toda la base con dinamita, con casi todo la base ardiendo, el único lugar que queda es el generador, lugar en el que seguramente esta Blair, colocando las cargas, 2 compañeros de MacReady son atrapados y absorbidos por la cosa, quedando el completamente solo contra el mounstruo.

The Thing de Jhon Carpenter es una tremenda película de culto a la cual se le notan un poco los años, pero que no deja de cumplir su objetivo, horrorizarte con las traumaticas transformaciones de la cosa, y en general, en mantener el suspenso durante toda la trama hasta el final, donde no se puede saber a ciencia cierta, si ya la cosa dejo de existir o si Childs, esta infectado, un final perfecto en mi opinión, viendo ambas películas, tanto la precuela y la original, se nota que la precuela se copio de muchas cosas, al punto en que siento en que he visto las mismas 2 películas con pequeñas diferencias, las actuaciones, aun cuando yo no se nada de actuar profesionalmente, me parecen un poquito mejorables, sobretodo en la manera de como reaccionan algunos, casi todos parecen fríos y calculadores cuando pierden un compañero, el único que refleja bien las emociones humanas es el propio comandante en varias ocasiones, aunque por un lado, supongo que esto hace mas difícil dar suposiciones de quien es la cosa, en general, me pareció una buena película de terror y horror, tal vez no tan alto para considerarlo una obra maestra, pero si una excelente manera de provocar tensión y mantenerte atento a lo que puede pasar, sin duda la recomiendo mis panas.
Jhon Carpenter's The Thing is a tremendous cult film which is a little bit old, but it does not fail to meet its goal, to horrify you with the traumatic transformations of the thing, and in general, to keep the suspense throughout the plot until the end, where you can not know for sure, I think it's a perfect ending, watching both movies, the prequel and the original, you can see that the prequel copied many things, to the point that I feel that I've seen the same 2 movies with small differences, the performances, even though I don't know anything about acting professionally, they seem to me a little bit improvable, especially in the way some of them react, almost all of them seem cold and calculating when they lose a partner, the only one that reflects human emotions well is the commander himself on several occasions, although on one side, I guess this makes it more difficult to give assumptions of who the thing is, in general, I thought it was a good horror movie, maybe not so high to consider it a masterpiece, but an excellent way to provoke tension and keep you attentive to what can happen, I certainly recommend it my friends.
