The Snow Society, is a film based on the true story of a group of Uruguayans, who suffered a tragic accident in the Andes Mountains in 1972, where the survivors are forced to survive, depending on each other, enduring the infernal cold of the mountains, with hunger, thirst and injuries difficult to treat, here we will see the struggle, courage, and strong friendship, with the only goal of getting out of that place alive and return to their homes.
This is a dramatic film, released in 2023 in theaters in Uruguay, first, then in Spain, directed by J.A. Bayona, based on the book of the same name by Pablo Vierci; moreover, it was chosen by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, to represent Spain in the OSCAR 2024 awards, in the category of Best International Film.
La Sociedad de la nieve, es un film basado en la historia real, de un grupo de uruguayos, que sufrieron un trágico accidente, en la cordillera de los Andes, en el año 1972, donde los sobrevivientes se ven obligados a sobrevivir, dependiendo uno del otro, aguantando ese frío infernal de las montañas, con hambre, sed y heridas difíciles de atender, aquí veremos la lucha, coraje, y esa fuerte amistad, con el único objetivo de salir de ese lugar con vida y regresar a sus hogares.
Esta es una película dramática, estrenada en el 2023 en las salas de Uruguay, primero, luego en España, dirigida por J.A. They are 144 minutes full of drama, action, fear, uncertainty, somehow you feel identified with each scene, with each of the characters, being there, all alone, exposed to that strong weather, that cold, that storm, but above all, the fear that invades them, the thought of not returning home, to see their loved ones and die there alone and abandoned to their fate.
Undoubtedly the director of this film did a great job, a great effort to capture each scene lived by all of them, to tell and show as real as possible their experiences in this tragic accident, and how they managed to survive, the losses they suffered, that pain, that helplessness of not being able to do anything for them, there are no words.
I must confess that the end of this story was what shook me the most, you have to see it to know what I am talking about, it is something that as I said, there are no words to express it; this story is of brave people, because for me, that is what they were, these young survivors of this catastrophe, a real struggle full of courage and bravery.
Son 144 minutos lleno de drama, acción, miedo, incertidumbre, de alguna forma te sientes identificado con cada escena, con cada uno de los personajes, el estar allí, completamente solos, expuestos a ese clima tan fuerte, ese frío, esa tempestad, pero sobre todo, el miedo que los invade, el pensar no volver a casa, de ver a sus seres queridos y morir allí solos y abandonados a su suerte.
Sin duda el director de este film hizo un gran trabajo, un gran esfuerzo por plasmar cada escena vivida por todos ellos, en contar y mostrar lo más real posible sus vivencias en este trágico accidente, y como lograron sobrevivir, las perdidas que sufrieron, ese dolor, esa impotencia de no poder hacer nada por ellos, no tiene palabras.
Debo confesar que el final de esta historia fue lo que más me estremeció, tienen que verlo, para poder saber de lo que les hablo, es algo que como dije, no hay palabras para poder expresarlo; esta historia es de valientes, porque para mí, eso fueron, estos jóvenes sobrevivientes de esta catástrofe, una verdadera lucha llena de valentía y coraje.

La película ilustra una serie de escenas de la lucha de estos sobrevivientes, como mencione, los más reales posibles, llenas de emoción, mostrando esas condiciones extremas a las que se vieron sometidos, con la esperanza de ser rescatados.
Cabe señalar que este no es el primer film que sacan sobre esta historia, ya que en 1993, se estrenó VIVEN, protagonizada por el actor *Ethan Hawke, la verdad recuerdo muy poco de esta versión, pero sin duda, esta nueva, La sociedad de la nieve, es como muchos han dicho una obra maestra, con escenas únicas, inolvidables, que trasmiten toda esa sensación, esas montañas, esa nieve, pero sobre todo ese frío, el solo imaginar todo lo que estas personas sufrieron, la verdad, tienen que verlo, si no lo han hecho.

Phrases like these we will see in this story, a very emotional, deep film, that makes you think, we are so fragile, and we are exposed to events that we cannot control, we cannot fight against nature, against those things that are unpredictable, we can only trust in ourselves, in our power to survive, to overcome, to go ahead, always trusting that everything will pass.
A well handled scenes, photographs for the story, a worthy music, a first class acting, because we can not fail to mention the performances, first time I see these actors, but there is no doubt that they did a great job, the effort they made, with him resembling the survivors, the sample of dehydration, feeding, this gave them great merit.
Frases como estas veremos en esta historia, un largometraje bastante emotivo, profundo, que te hace pensar, somos tan fragiles, y estamos expuestos a sucesos que no podemos controlar, no podemos luchar contra la naturaleza, contra esas cosas que son impredecibles, solo podemos confiar en nosotros mismos, en nuestro poder para sobrevivir, superarlo, salir adelante, confiar siempre, en que todo pasara.
Unas escenas bien manejadas, fotografías para la historia, una música digna, una actuación de primera, porque no podemos dejar de mencionar las actuaciones, primera vez que veo estos actores, pero no cabe duda que hicieron un gran trabajo, el esfuerzo que hicieron, con él parecido a los sobrevivientes, la muestra de la deshidratación, alimentación, esto les dio un gran mérito.
