I always thought I knew a lot of songs until I was completely shamed today. The next time you hear me boast about knowing songs, stop me in my tracks before I am done babbling. I do not know as much as I thought.
The movie, "The Harder They Fall" shamed my music life today. It was an epic play out, the striking difference was the different soundtracks used in the background as the cast demonstrated life and its basic principles.
Let me take through the rundown of the 5 songs featured in this movie(that I loved), and you might as well tell me if you are familiar with any of them. I'll be proud of you if you know anyone, and you'll have my respect for life, I promise you.
THREE AND THIRTY YEARS by Alice Smith and Fisk Jubilee Singers
You know those times when you leave things in the past, and they return to hurt you? Yeah. This song centers on that message. Do the things you did in the past still hurt? What about the memories, do they bring fears to your soul?
GUNS GO BANG by Kid Cudi and Jay-Z
I love the way this soundtrack reminded me about the fact that he who lives by the sword, dies by it. It admonishes anyone who plots revenge to dig his grace. It throws in the picture that he who drew, cock back, aim, shoot, and bang his gun at another, will suffer the same fate, one day.
BETTER THAN GOLD by Barrington Levy
Isn't freedom better than gold? Of course, it is. With freedom, you can do anything you want, but gold breeds fear. You will constantly be on the lookout for intruders because you will be afraid, they will steal your gold. You forget that with freedom, you can make all the golds that you desire.
WEDNESDAY’S CHILD by Alice Smith
This was heart-touching, it listed the different things that could happen on the different days of the week if humans are fighting one another. That is the way I understood it, maybe, you will understand it differently. I understood this way because I am used to Artist Asa(google her up) singing about wars, death, and poverty, and all the time I listen to her, I imagine the scenes of each line of her songs.
THE HARDER THEY FALL by Koffee
Now, this is the name of the movie, and it wraps everything up. The bold women, the men, the ones who are boiling in rage, the ones who are in love, the ones who are aiming for perfection, the ones who keep the law no matter what, the ones who betray their friends. To mention, but a few. The movie had everything this particular song talks about. Including flushing out the bad ones, so the good ones can thrive in a beautiful morning.
There, my five favorite songs in this movie, and my reasons. I had lessons from the movie as well and here they are;
Life's principles haven't changed
Those who cheat end up destroyed no matter how long
He who lives by the sword dies by the sword
Practice leads to both Mastery and perfection
Those who talk too much end up dead before their time
The good and bad may co-exist, but the good; will always win
Watch your women, protect and love them, they have to power to make or destroy you depending on how you treat them.
Blood is thicker than water, always. (maybe science says otherwise, I sincerely do not care. lol)
Crush your enemy completely or they'll be back to crush you
Finally, Love conquers all
