El día de hoy voy a hacer una pausa del material de miedo y terror por la spooky season para hablar de una película que se estrenó en cines recién la semana pasada y que la verdad tenía muchas ganas de ver. En lo personal soy una persona muy fanática de todo el tema de los superhéroes pero más en especial del universo de DC Comics, incluso más que del propio Marvel y esto es por que la mayoría de sus personajes crecieron conmigo en mi infancia y porque considero que sus personajes son muchos más sombríos y con historias un poco más interesantes. Ahora con la llegada de Black Adam al universo cinematográfico es muy posible que DC tome otro rumbo, uno mucho más atractivo.
Today I'm going to take a break from the spooky season to talk about a movie that was released in theaters just last week and that I really wanted to see. Personally I am a big fan of the whole superhero theme but especially of the DC Comics universe, even more than Marvel itself and this is because most of their characters grew up with me in my childhood and because I consider their characters to be much darker and with stories that are a bit more interesting. Now with the arrival of Black Adam to the cinematic universe it is very possible that DC will take another direction, a much more attractive one.
Y todo esto lo digo porque si hay un actor que tiene carisma, influencia y sobretodo es capaz de vender todo lo que hace es Dwayne Johnson, te pueden gustar o no sus películas pero lo que no puedes negar es que es muy mediático. Con este nuevo personaje se abre un abanico de posibilidades dichas por el mismo actor, un posible crossover con Shazam y la tan esperada película que pudiera mostrar a Black Adam con Superman, de hecho ya no es sorpresa que Henry Cavill seguirá siendo el hombre de acero y aunque no lo crean este film del que vamos a hablar tiene mucho que ver en eso. Así que vamos y comentemos un poco las impresiones de lo nuevo de DC Comics.
And I say all this because if there is an actor who has charisma, influence and above all is able to sell everything he does is Dwayne Johnson, you may or may not like his movies but what you can not deny is that he is very mediatic. With this new character opens a range of possibilities said by the actor himself, a possible crossover with Shazam and the long awaited film that could show Black Adam with Superman, in fact it is no longer a surprise that Henry Cavill will remain the man of steel and believe it or not this film we are going to talk about has a lot to do with that. Black Adam en realidad es un antihéroe, el enemigo número uno de Shazam y este film nos habla de como fue su origen. Todo se remonta a un país llamado Kahndaq que correspondía al antiguo Egipto, en donde nuestro protagonista vivía bajo el yugo del emperador de turno, era una sociedad esclavizada. Por una serie de eventos este hombre logra obtener unos poderes impresionantes, la capacidad de manejar la electricidad, super velocidad y fuerza entre otros lo que hizo que eventualmente se convirtiera en una especie de hechicero y use sus poderes para el mal ya que la base de ellos era el odio, la venganza y el rencor.
Black Adam is actually an anti-hero, Shazam's number one enemy, and this film tells us about his origin. Everything goes back to a country called Kahndaq that corresponded to ancient Egypt, where our protagonist lived under the yoke of the emperor of the day, it was an enslaved society. For a series of events this man manages to obtain impressive powers, the ability to handle electricity, super speed and strength among others which eventually made him become a kind of sorcerer and use his powers for evil since the basis of them was hatred, revenge and resentment.
La cosa es que después de aquellos eventos pasan unos cuantos años y es cuando aparecen la Sociedad de Justicia de América comandada por el Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan) para tratar de impedir que los poderes de Black Adam se desboquen de nuevo y los utilice para el bien, apelando un poco al humano que una vez fue. Es a partir de acá cuando la trama se pone interesante ya que veremos una lucha entre el "bien" y el "mal" sin saber muy bien quien pertenece a que bando, esto lo digo por el contexto de la película que lógicamente sabrán cuando la vean. Tengo que decir que esta película me sorprendió bastante, no esperé que fuera tan buena o por lo menos que me gustara tanto; sabemos que The Rock es un tipo capaz de interpretar cualquier personaje pero con este creo que fácilmente puede ser de lo mejor que haya hecho en su carrera, no exagero.
The thing is that after those events a few years pass and is when the Justice Society of America commanded by Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan) appear to try to prevent Black Adam's powers are unleashed again and use them for good, appealing a little to the human he once was. I have to say that this movie surprised me a lot, I didn't expect it to be so good or at least that I liked it so much; we know that The Rock is a guy capable of playing any character but with this one I think it can easily be one of the best he has done in his career, I'm not exaggerating.

Hablemos primero de todo el tema de escenas, cinematografías y efectos especiales. Este fue un elemento que se disfruta mucho porque los poderes de los personajes que aparecen acá se prestan para eso. Hay imágenes muy bien logradas, grandes explosiones, el slow motion que tanto gusta es usado en escenas en donde el resultado final termina siendo una joya, el despliegue de poderes del Dcotro Fate es una locura, creo que es de lo mejor de la película porque impulsa a que las escenas, lo que ves en la pantalla sea más vistoso y más impresionante. Pero no todo son superpoderes, hay un contexto dentro de la trama que involucra a las personas sin poderes, al humano de a pie que también es atractivo porque sus participaciones son claves además de que le añaden a la historia ese toque de aventura que nunca va a sobrar.
Let's talk first about the whole issue of scenes, cinematography and special effects. This was an element that is very enjoyable because the powers of the characters that appear here lend themselves to that. There are very well done images, big explosions, the slow motion that we like so much is used in scenes where the end result ends up being a gem, the display of Fate's powers is crazy, I think it is the best of the film because it makes the scenes, what you see on the screen is more colorful and more impressive. But not everything is superpowers, there is a context within the plot that involves people without powers, the ordinary human that is also attractive because their participation is key and also adds to the story that touch of adventure that will never be left over.
La historia en si a algunos les puede parecer plana y hasta cliché pero para mi ella no es la protagonista, es solo un medio para que podamos conocer y descubrir a estos personajes que son nuevos en las pantallas. De ahí a que diga que en ningún momento me sintiera aburrido en el cine, para mi una señal de que no estoy disfrutando un film es cuando comienzo a ver la hora, pues en esta no recuerdo haberlo hecho. Y esto ocurre porque siempre está pasando algo, siempre hay un detalle que no se puede dejar de ver. Además de todo esto es una historia con mucha acción obviamente, con una pizca de aventura pero hay un drama, ese elemento que hace un poco humanos a estos seres, que es muy bueno y muy sentido. Ese contrate de una gran escena para después terminar en otro animo son cosas que se ven acá.
The story itself may seem flat and even cliché to some, but for me she is not the protagonist, she is just a means for us to get to know and discover these characters that are new to the screen. That's why I say that at no time I felt bored in the cinema, for me a sign that I'm not enjoying a film is when I start to see the time, because in this one I don't remember doing it. And this happens because there is always something going on, there is always a detail that you can't miss. On top of all this is a story with a lot of action obviously, with a dash of adventure but there is a drama, that element that makes these beings a little bit human, which is very good and very heartfelt. That contrast of a great scene and then ending up in another mood are things that you see here.

De los personajes que más me gustaron sin duda alguna fue el interpretado por el ex agente 007 Pierce Brosnan. Doctor Fate es uno de los héroes de DC que más me gustan por el estilo y por los poderes que posee. La interpretación de Brosnan, quien dijo que se inspiró un poco en Doctor Strange, fue magistral y esto es porque este personaje no es tan enérgico ni impulsivo, es todo lo contrario, es la cabeza pensante, es relajado y que actua solo cuando es necesario. Estos personajes que no sabes muy bien cual es su verdadera fuerza para después terminar sorprendiendo son los mejores. Aparece también el Hombre Halcón (Aldis Hodge), uno de los míticos de DC, y que aquí lo vemos en un rol muy diferente porque generalmente es un personaje un poco secundario. En esta oportunidad tiene mucho más voz y decisión lo cual está bien, es un muy buen personaje con un sentido de la justicia muy arraigado.
One of the characters I liked the most was undoubtedly the one played by former 007 agent Pierce Brosnan. Doctor Fate is one of the DC heroes I like the most for the style and powers he possesses. The interpretation of Brosnan, who said that he was inspired a bit by Doctor Strange, was masterful and this is because this character is not so energetic or impulsive, it is quite the opposite, he is the thinking head, he is relaxed and acts only when necessary. In this opportunity he has much more voice and decision which is fine, he is a very good character with a very deep-rooted sense of justice.
Y bueno, que decir de Dwayne Johnson. Como ya les dije La Roca es una persona que haga el personaje que haga lo va a vender creo yo como nadie o pocos en la industria de Hollywood. Cuando me enteré que sería él el encargado de traer a Black Adam ya uno sabía más o menos como sería todo y fue tal cual. La preparación física de Johnson para este papel fue alucinante, cinco meses de puro entrenamiento para llegar, según el, a la mejor forma en la que ha estado en toda su vida. Por este lado no tengo ninguna queja para él, es un actor que cuando tiene que apelar a interpretar cual forma de sentimiento ya sea amor, odio, fuerza, solidaridad, etc lo hace sin problemas en una escena de cinco minutos. Creo que fue un gran acierto la escogencia de The Rock para el papel.
And well, what to say about Dwayne Johnson. As I already told you, The Rock is a person that no matter what character he plays, he will sell it like no one or few others in the Hollywood industry. When I found out that he would be in charge of bringing Black Adam, I already knew more or less how everything would be and it was just like that. Johnson's physical preparation for this role was mind-blowing, five months of pure training to get, according to him, in the best shape he's ever been in. On this side I have no complaints for him, he is an actor that when he has to appeal to interpret any form of feeling whether love, hate, strength, solidarity, etc. he does it without problems in a scene of five minutes. I think it was a great success the choice of The Rock for the role.

Hay muchas cosas que dejé de contar porque los spoilers acá no tienen cabida así que les tocará ir a verla si quieren saber mucho más de esta gran película. Mi nota es un 8.5/10 porque la disfruté, nunca perdí el interés, tiene de todo un poco, desde una acción trepidante hasta un drama familiar importante cosa que le da otro valor y un poco más de profundidad a la toda la historia. Tiene una duración de un poco más de dos horas y ya está disponible en los cines. IMPORTANTE: tiene una escena post créditos por lo que les recomiendo que se queden para que la vean. There are many things I left out because spoilers have no place here so you will have to go see it if you want to know much more about this great movie. My grade is an 8.5/10 because I enjoyed it, I never lost interest, it has a little bit of everything, from fast-paced action to an important family drama which gives it another value and a little more depth to the whole story. It has a running time of just over two hours and is now available in theaters. IMPORTANT: it has a post-credits scene so I recommend you stick around to see it.
