A series that I had overlooked, among so many productions on streaming platforms, sometimes it is difficult to be attentive to all the premieres. It was thanks to the review made by another user that I paid attention to this wonderful series.

A few days ago I was told that my list of series and movies to watch must be huge and yes, they are absolutely right. With so many new productions coming out every week it is very difficult to keep up the pace and time to watch them all and even find out about them.
Also, as I find something that catches my attention, I forget about others that I have pending. I jump from one to another as free time allows.
My thirty day free trial of Primevideo expired, that's another reason I missed the release of Outer Range, but when it was recommended by a frequent user of the community, I immediately looked it up, with Josh Brolin and Imogen Poots as part of the main cast, it was enough for me to know it would live up to my expectations. As for the trailer, if you can see it, although it shows some of the mystery, there are no major details.

Además, a medida que encuentro algo que me llama la atención, voy olvidando otras que tengo pendientes. Voy saltando de uno a otro, según el tiempo libre me lo permite.

Family
Family is the most important thing and that is what I liked most about the story. A ranch-owning couple who are capable of anything to protect what they love most, their children and granddaughter. No matter what they do, good or bad, family comes first.
A family that seems doomed to suffer a series of tragedies. Royal Abbout stands as the patriarch, tough and self-assured, capable of going to hell to protect his children. What is he protecting them from? His children are a reflection of who he is.
Some children seem marked to repeat the mistakes of their parents, especially when he has not been entirely honest with his family, a dark secret has been tormenting him for some time and it seems that the time has come to settle the score with destiny.
What family has no secrets? Everyone has something to hide, there are things about our own parents that we don't know, just as there are things we will never tell our children. All in order to protect them, so that they don't live some bad experiences that we had to go through.
I loved the whole Abbout family, from the first episode we empathize with them, they are cattle ranchers and their behavior is typical of people who must be tough in the face of life's vicissitudes.
Should children sacrifice themselves for their parents? This is another of the dilemmas posed by the series. Royal's two sons will find themselves at a crossroads where they will have to make important decisions: sacrifice for their parents or try to rebuild their lives away from that place.
Should we force our children to follow in our footsteps or should we let them find their own way and build their own destiny? I prefer the latter, I believe our children should make their own decisions and make their own life.
At the beginning of the series we see the Abbout family very united, they have a ranch with many acres and cattle. The youngest son has followed in his father's footsteps and has become a figure in rodeo competition, but is he really happy? They eat together all the time and attend church on Sundays, they are well known in the community. Behind all that facade, they each have their own internal battles. Secrets, dreams, desires, plans, sins. During eight episodes we will see how everything falls apart, as if it were a house of cards.
Outer Range is not only about the Abbout family. There is also the Tillerson family. Neighbors who own other land and have plenty of money to do whatever they want in town. Unlike the Abbouts, it's a broken family, the parents are divorced and of the three sons, one of them seems to be the most ambitious of all.
Does money bring happiness? Many believe it does, but as we see how the Tillerson family self-destructs with their actions, we realize that too much money and power bring big problems to the family.
Continuing with the family as an important part of the story, there is the subplot of the sheriff, who is a descendant of an Indian tribe that once was the original owner of that land. In addition to being the first Indian sheriff in town, she is a lesbian and lives with her partner with whom they have a daughter, but for the more conservative and religious it is frowned upon and difficult to accept. This subplot does not go very deep, but I mention it to reemphasize that the story is built on the family premise and I liked the way it is told.

La familia es lo mas importante y es que me gusto mas de la historia. Una pareja de propietarios de ranchos que son capaces de cualquier cosa para proteger lo que más quieren, sus hijos y su nieta. No importa lo que hagan, bueno o malo, la familia es lo primero.
Una familia que parece condenada a sufrir una serie de tragedias. Royal Abbout se erige como el patriarca, duro y seguro de sí mismo, capaz de ir al infierno para proteger a sus hijos. ¿De qué los protege? Sus hijos son un reflejo de lo que él es.
Algunos hijos parecen marcados para repetir los errores de sus padres, sobre todo cuando éste no ha sido del todo sincero con su familia, un oscuro secreto le atormenta desde hace tiempo y parece que ha llegado el momento de saldar las cuentas pendientes con el destino.
¿Qué familia no tiene secretos? Todo el mundo tiene algo que ocultar, hay cosas de nuestros propios padres que desconocemos, al igual que hay cosas que nunca contaremos a nuestros hijos. Todo con el fin de protegerlos, para que no vivan algunas malas experiencias que nosotros tuvimos que pasar.
Toda la familia Abbout me ha encantado, desde el primer episodio empatizamos con ellos, son ganaderos y su comportamiento es el típico de personas que deben ser duras ante los avatares de la vida.
¿Deben los hijos sacrificarse por sus padres? Este es otro de los dilemas que plantea la serie. Los dos hijos de Royal se encontrarán en una encrucijada en la que tendrán que tomar importantes decisiones: sacrificarse por sus padres o intentar rehacer su vida lejos de ese lugar.
¿Debemos obligar a nuestros hijos a seguir nuestros pasos o debemos dejar que encuentren su propio camino y construyan su propio destino? Yo prefiero lo segundo, creo que nuestros hijos deben tomar sus propias decisiones y hacer su propia vida.
Al principio de la serie vemos a la familia Abbout muy unida, tienen un rancho con muchas hectáreas y ganado. El hijo menor ha seguido los pasos de su padre y se ha convertido en una figura de la competición de rodeo, pero ¿es realmente feliz? Comen juntos todo el tiempo y asisten a la iglesia los domingos, son muy conocidos en la comunidad. Detrás de toda esa fachada, cada uno tiene sus propias batallas internas. Secretos, sueños, deseos, planes, pecados. Durante ocho episodios veremos cómo todo se desmorona, como si fuera un castillo de naipes.
Outer Range no trata sólo de la familia Abbout. También está la familia Tillerson. Unos vecinos que poseen otras tierras y tienen mucho dinero para hacer lo que quieran en el pueblo. A diferencia de los Abbout, es una familia rota, los padres están divorciados y de los tres hijos, uno de ellos parece ser el más ambicioso de todos.
¿El dinero da la felicidad? Muchos creen que sí, pero al ver cómo la familia Tillerson se autodestruye con sus acciones, nos damos cuenta de que demasiado dinero y poder traen grandes problemas a la familia.
Siguiendo con la familia como parte importante de la historia, está la subtrama del sheriff, que es descendiente de una tribu india que en su día fue la propietaria original de esas tierras. Además de ser la primera sheriff indígena del pueblo, es lesbiana y vive con su pareja con la que tienen una hija, pero para los más conservadores y religiosos es algo mal visto y difícil de aceptar. Esta subtrama no profundiza mucho, pero la menciono para volver a destacar que la historia se construye bajo la premisa familiar y me ha gustado la forma en que está contada.

Royal Abbout and his wife Cecilia have a ranch in a Wyoming town. Perry, the oldest son, is dealing with the disappearance of his wife, who seems to have left because she didn't want to be on the ranch anymore, leaving their young daughter Amy behind. A tract of land that Royal is not willing to give up, there is something important inside that land, something that seems to be linked to Royal's past. To make matters worse, a strange young traveler named Autumm shows up at the ranch and asks to camp on their land, but this young woman seems to have other intentions. What is on that land? Who is Autumm? What is this young woman hiding? What trouble will Royal's children get into? Will they be able to save their family?
It is difficult to pigeonhole Outer Range in a specific genre, as is characteristic of many current productions, it handles several genres. Of course, it falls into the category of Western, because of the setting in the world of these cattle and land owning families, but there is something else that I don't want to tell, that makes this story something completely different.
I found myself in the same dilemma when I reviewed shining girls, where what you can see in the trailer and although it looks like a lot, it is really just the beginning of something that goes beyond what we imagine. But I shouldn't tell the big mystery of the plot because it would be ruining the surprise, anyway don't expect too much, we already know enough in the second episode.
There is a plot twist with one of the main characters that I saw coming, if you pay attention you will realize what it is about. There is an episode where it becomes very obvious, that's why the season finale reveal didn't cause me much surprise, I had already realized it, but I loved it and I'm sure many will be surprised.
I have to highlight the photography work of the series, beautiful landscapes with panoramic shots that have nothing to envy to western movies. Likewise, I found the special effects to be good for a TV series. You can tell that they have taken great care of the details and have invested a good amount of money in the production.
However, there is something that worries me. They haven't announced anything about a second season and if you accept my recommendation to watch it, I want to warn you that the story leaves the central mystery open, there is no completely closed ending. The positive thing is that it has received very good reviews and that may influence them to decide to make a second season, I need to see the complete closure of this story.
I believe that if it will have a second season, Amazon Prime is even going to make a sequel to a bodrio like Tomorrow's War, I don't think they will cancel this series that has a great story, has been well received by the public and has an extraordinary cast. There are many things to take into account, for example, the schedule of the two main actors, who must have contracts for other projects. We can only wait for the announcement.
Outer Range is a modern western with a solid cast and a mystery that will surprise you. A series worth watching, although the story of quarrels between two families is not something new, they do have an element that makes it different from the rest. Finding answers to something that seems to have no logical explanation, is the biggest hook of the series.

Es difícil encasillar Outer Range en un género concreto, como es característico de muchas producciones actuales, maneja varios géneros. Por supuesto, entra en la categoría de Western, por la ambientación en el mundo de estas familias propietarias de ganado y tierras, pero hay algo más que no quiero contar, que hace de esta historia algo completamente diferente.
Me encontré en el mismo dilema cuando hice la reseña de shining girls, donde lo que se puede ver en el trailer y aunque parece mucho, en realidad es solo el comienzo de algo que va más allá de lo que imaginamos. Pero no debo contar el gran misterio de la trama porque sería arruinar la sorpresa, de todos modos no hay que esperar demasiado, ya sabemos lo suficiente en el segundo episodio.
Hay un giro argumental con uno de los personajes principales que me veía venir, si prestan atención se darán cuenta de qué se trata. Hay un episodio en el que se hace muy evidente, por eso la revelación del final de temporada no me causó mucha sorpresa, ya me había dado cuenta, pero me encantó y estoy seguro de que a muchos les sorprenderá.
Tengo que destacar el trabajo de fotografía de la serie, hermosos paisajes con tomas panorámicas que no tienen nada que envidiar a las películas del oeste. Igualmente, los efectos especiales me han parecido buenos para una serie de televisión. Se nota que han cuidado mucho los detalles y han invertido una buena cantidad de dinero en la producción.
Ahora bien, hay algo que me tiene preocupado. No han anunciado nada sobre una segunda temporada y si aceptas mi recomendación de verla, quiero advertirte que la historia deja el misterio central abierto, no hay un final completamente cerrado. Lo positivo es que ha recibido muy buenas críticas y eso puede influir en que se decidan a hacer una segunda temporada, necesito ver el cierre completo de esta historia.
Creo que si tendrá una segunda temporada, Amazon Prime incluso va a hacer una secuela de un bodrio como La Guerra del Mañana, no creo que cancelen esta serie que tiene una gran historia, ha sido bien recibida por el público y tiene un extraordinario reparto. Hay muchas cosas que hay que tener en cuenta, por ejemplo, la agenda de los dos actores principales, que deben tener contratos para otros proyectos. Nos queda esperar el anuncio.
Outer Range es un western moderno con un sólido reparto y un misterio que te sorprenderá. Una serie que merece la pena ver, aunque la historia de rencillas entre dos familias no es algo nuevo, sí que tienen un elemento que la hace diferente al resto. Encontrar respuestas a algo que parece no tener explicación lógica, es el mayor gancho de la serie.
