A classic film that has been adapted to the big screen countless times. There are many movies of this story produced in different countries. I even remember that it has been adapted in soap opera format. I have not seen all the versions, but I do remember that the first time I saw it on the big screen was on an old VHS tape, where Richard Chamberlaind played the Count of Monte Cristo.
Another version that I remember and that I liked a lot at the time, was an adaptation where Jim Caviezel was Monte Cristo. I think that so far it was one of the versions that had left me satisfied, although the mini-series with Depardieu as the protagonist, was also a good adaptation.
Precisely from France is that there are more adaptations, obviously it was to be expected. Dumas was French and his classics have always been material for theater and film. Although now there is a lot of information with theories that Dumas only put his signature and this story was supposedly written by a ghost writer that he paid. Is it true? The story of The Count of Monte Cristo has always fascinated me. It has everything that makes it an unforgettable work. Love, tragedy and revenge. This combination is perfect to move and thrill the reader or viewer.
Revenge as the central axis. Beyond love and misfortune, it is the feeling of revenge that provides the greatest motivation to the human being. Dantés suffers betrayal, the disgrace of being blamed for something he has not done, of being separated from the love of his life and betrayed by those he loved. Therefore, this feeling of seeking justice for his own hand, gives him the energy to continue living despite the pain that will haunt him until his last days.

No he visto todas las versiones, pero sí recuerdo que la primera vez que la vi en pantalla grande, fue en una vieja cinta de VHS, donde Richard Chamberlaind interpretaba al Conde de Montecristo.

La historia de El Conde de Montecristo siempre me ha fascinado. Tiene todo lo que la convierte en una obra inolvidable. Amor, tragedia y venganza. Esta combinación es perfecta para emocionar y estremecer al lector o espectador.
La venganza como eje central. Más allá del amor y la desgracia, es el sentimiento de venganza el que proporciona la mayor motivación al ser humano. Dantés sufre la traición, la desgracia de ser culpado de algo que no ha hecho, de ser separado del amor de su vida y traicionado por aquellos a los que amaba. Por lo tanto, este sentimiento de buscar justicia para su propia mano, le da la energía para seguir viviendo a pesar del dolor que le perseguirá hasta sus últimos días.
This new French adaptation is directed by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patellière, two French filmmakers who have a lot of work together, either as screenwriters or directors. Passionate about the works of Dumas, they have already produced an excellent adaptation of The Three Musketeers in two films, and are likely to make a third.
Following the style of that previous adaptation, The Count of Monte Cristo, it is clear that it had a comfortable budget. From the very first scene we see that this is a big production. No effort is spared in taking care of the details of each scene. I was fascinated by many of the locations and landscapes. Also the cinematography transported me to the classics.
The film is long but not tiring, because if there is one thing both filmmakers do well, it is to keep the viewer attentive. Lots of excitement and adventure. We may know the story, we may have seen it many times, but we will still keep our eyes open to see how Dantés executes his revenge and if it will give him the peace of mind he craves.
A fantastic cast makes for a very solid film. Each one delivers a very passionate performance, not to mention that this is a very packaged entertainment product. It doesn't matter if you already know the story, I still recommend it and if you've never read or seen any of The Count of Monte Cristo, this is your chance to enjoy it in one of its best adaptations to date.

Esta nueva adaptación francesa corre a cargo de Matthieu Delaporte y Alexandre de la Patellière, dos cineastas franceses que tienen mucho trabajo juntos, ya sea como guionistas o como directores. Apasionados por las obras de Dumas, ya han realizado una excelente adaptación de Los tres mosqueteros en dos películas, y es probable que realicen una tercera.
Siguiendo el estilo de esa adaptación anterior, El Conde de Montecristo, se nota que tuvo un presupuesto holgado. Desde la primera escena vemos que se trata de una gran producción. No se escatiman esfuerzos en cuidar los detalles de cada escena. Me fascinaron muchas de las localizaciones y paisajes. Además la fotografía me transportó a los clásicos.
La película es larga pero no cansa, porque si algo hacen bien ambos cineastas es mantener atento al espectador. Mucha emoción y aventura. Puede que conozcamos la historia, puede que la hayamos visto muchas veces, pero aun así mantendremos los ojos abiertos para ver cómo ejecuta Dantés su venganza y si ésta le dará la tranquilidad que ansía.
Un reparto fantástico da lugar a una película muy sólida. Cada uno ofrece una interpretación muy apasionada, sin olvidar que se trata de un producto de entretenimiento de gran empaque. No importa si ya conoces la historia, igual la recomiendo y si nunca has leído o visto nada de El Conde de Montecristo, esta es tu oportunidad de disfrutarla en una de sus mejores adaptaciones hasta la fecha.
