Another film I was looking forward to. After having a couple of masterpieces, David Fincher is a fascinating filmmaker whose entire career I have followed. I love everything he does. I'm not a blind fan. He also has works that haven't made an impact on me, but it's undeniable that he has a knack for transforming a simple story into a visual delight.
The Killer is very Fincher. I even think the director embodies something of himself in the character. It is known from many interviews and publications that Fincher is a perfectionist filmmaker. Every camera shot, framing, movement and the smallest detail within the frame, is very careful. A very methodical filmmaker, as is the film's killer.
Fincher's career began directing music videos for several well-known singers. Rick Springfield, George Michael, Billy Ido. Paula Abdul, Madonna. There he perfected his style. He knows that a picture is worth a thousand words, that's why it bothers me a bit that in The Killer the voice-over of the protagonist is so excessive.
When Fincher adapted The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo he knew how to save a lot of explanations from the book. He didn't need so much dialogue for the scenes in which the viewer tied up loose ends with the protagonist. I understand that in The Killer it is different, as his idea is to explore the mind of this methodical killer. I believe this comes from the source material, the graphic novel by Alexis No-lent, also known as Matz. I looked for it on the internet in my language but did not find it, I only got information where critics rate it as an excellent graphic novel. have you read it?

Cuando Fincher adaptó La chica del dragón tatuado supo ahorrarse muchas explicaciones del libro. No necesitaba tanto diálogo para las escenas en las que el espectador ataba cabos con la protagonista. Entiendo que en El asesino es diferente, ya que su idea es explorar la mente de este metódico asesino. Creo que esto viene del material original, la novela gráfica de Alexis No-lent, también conocido como Matz. La busqué en internet en mi idioma pero no la encontré, sólo conseguí información donde los críticos la califican como una excelente novela gráfica. ¿La ha leído?
Forget Seven, Zodiac or the extraordinary Mindhunter. The Killer is a thriller that tries to put us in the mind of a very careful professional killer, but who makes a serious mistake that triggers the chain of deaths we see in the story. This part is a little funny to me. So much emphasis is placed on the coldness of the killer, he brags about his technique, patience and that the key to his success is that he doesn't give a shit about anything, but this is false. We will discover that what he tells himself is a lie, he is such a psychopath that he believes his own lie.
Empathy is weakness. Empathy makes you vulnerable. Everyone has someone or something they love, that they care about. That is the Achilles heel that enemies will exploit to destroy you. If you're in the business of killing people, you might as well not care about anything at all. When you make a mistake, the consequences will hurt.
The stereotype of the perfect assassin. Quiet. Observant. Agile in the fight. Clever. Resourceful. We've seen this many times in countless movies. We have also seen thousands of revenge stories, a theme that always excites fans of this type of story. Fincher is not inventing anything new, I remind you that this is an adaptation of a graphic novel. But it was still a pleasure to watch his new film, which didn't move me as much as others, but it's hard not to admire the brilliance of his narrative technique and the beauty of his framing.

The Killer es un thriller que intenta ponernos en la mente de un asesino profesional muy cuidadoso, pero que comete un grave error que desencadena la cadena de muertes que vemos en la historia. Esta parte me hace un poco de gracia. Se hace tanto hincapié en la frialdad del asesino, presume de su técnica, paciencia y de que la clave de su éxito es que todo le importa una mierda, pero esto es falso. Descubriremos que eso que se cuenta a sí mismo es mentira, es tan psicópata que se cree su propia mentira.
La empatía es debilidad. La empatía te hace vulnerable. Todo el mundo tiene a alguien o algo que ama, que le importa. Ese es el talón de Aquiles que los enemigos explotarán para destruirte. Si te dedicas a matar gente, es mejor que no te importe nada en absoluto. Cuando cometas un error, las consecuencias te dolerán.
El estereotipo del asesino perfecto. Callado. Observador. Ágil en la lucha. Inteligente. Ingenioso. Esto lo hemos visto muchas veces en innumerables películas. También hemos visto miles de historias de venganza, un tema que siempre entusiasma a los fans de este tipo de historias. Fincher no inventa nada nuevo, les recuerdo que se trata de una adaptación de una novela gráfica. Pero aun así ha sido un placer ver su nueva película, que no me ha emocionado tanto como otras, pero es difícil no admirar la brillantez de su técnica narrativa y la belleza de sus encuadres.

You can feel the talent and effort of everyone as you admire the final product. You'll notice it from the opening credits.
Michael Fassbender perfectly fulfills the role of an expressionless and at first glance emotionless killer. Cold, calculating and careful that at times seems abstracted in his own madness. As I said before, the excessive voiceover was what bothered me a bit. So much rambling can get tiring. The rest of the cast plays characters from that dark world of clients, lawyers and assassins working in the shadows.
The merits of The Killer lie in its visual component and in the director's style to narrate a story of revenge to the rhythm of a good soundtrack and the thoughts of a psychopath.

Los cineastas como Fincher siempre se rodean del mismo equipo. Hacen cosas buenas juntos y por eso se unen en nuevos proyectos. Guionista Andrew Kevin Walker. El director de fotografía Erik Messerschmidt que vuelve a hacer un trabajo fantástico y el montador Kirk Baxter. En la música, de nuevo otro trabajo con Trent Reznor y Atticus Ross. Se nota el talento y el esfuerzo de todos al admirar el producto final. Lo notarás desde los créditos iniciales.
Michael Fassbender cumple a la perfección el papel de un asesino inexpresivo y a primera vista carente de emociones. Frío, calculador y cuidadoso que por momentos parece abstraído en su propia locura. Como he dicho antes, el exceso de voz en off fue lo que me molestó un poco. Tanta divagación puede llegar a cansar. El resto del reparto interpreta a personajes de ese oscuro mundo de clientes, abogados y asesinos que trabajan en la sombra.
Los méritos de The Killer residen en su componente visual y en el estilo del director para narrar una historia de venganza al ritmo de una buena banda sonora y los pensamientos de un psicópata.
