One will always be remembered for being Rocky and Rambo and the other for being the Terminator.
I remember wishing to see these two actors in a movie together, with a couple of friends I would talk and imagine what a movie with them as the main characters would be like. Which one would be the villain and which one would be the hero? Some were more Schwarzenegger fans, because physically he was bigger and seemed to have more strength.
It was the mid-1990s and there was no internet, it was hard to find out a lot of Hollywood gossip, so I was oblivious to all the rivalry that existed between them. At the time they were friends, even business partners with Bruce Willis in the Planet Hollywood restaurant chain. So I thought it was feasible that they would soon make a movie with the two of them, but years went by and they each went their separate ways. The hope of seeing them in action together faded.

Primero la rivalidad, luego seguramente fue no conseguir un buen guión, cada uno manejando su ego, queriendo ser el héroe, teniendo el mismo peso en la historia, problemas de agenda, contratos, sueldos millonarios, un sinfín de factores que debieron influir y dejaron a muchos con las ganas de ver una película donde chocaran los dos actores de acción en su mejor momento, una época que estaba quedando atrás, dando paso a los nuevos iconos del género.

Como Stallone y Schwarzenegger están bastante activos, me propuse ver las series que protagoniza cada uno. La de Stallone es del año pasado y la de Schwarzenegger se estreno hace poco tiempo. Una la vi rápido porque me pareció adictiva, la otra me llevó más tiempo, la terminé por obligación. Eso quiere decir que una me gustó bastante y la otra es una simple serie algoritmo.

Drama and humor well combined, I really enjoyed watching each episode, from the first chapter you are hooked. Stallone is not a very expressive actor, but the character he plays fits him perfectly, the generational clash, after being 25 years in prison, provokes funny situations and dialogues. The way the protagonist behaves, like an old-time mobster, also generates funny moments. The secondary characters have some depth, each one has problems and the cast plays them very well, we come to care about some of them. One negative point is that I think everything comes too easy to Manfredi, how he assembles his criminal team so quickly is a bit implausible, but the character falls very well and I don't mind that detail of the script.
Schwarzenegger's series is Fubar and it premiered this year on Netflix. I had a world of trouble finishing it, it could easily have been a four episode miniseries, I felt it's too long. If they had made it a series of half hour episodes I think I would have liked it. For me it was an ordeal watching the adventures of Luke Brunner, a CIA agent who is about to retire, even though he is in his seventies, he still runs around like a young man in his twenties and is a super special agent for important missions. He has been divorced for years, but he is still in love with his ex-wife and wants her back, plus he has his daughter Emma, but what he doesn't know is that she is also a CIA agent. When he is tasked with extracting an undercover agent, he discovers what his daughter is doing and they must work together to stop the criminal Boro, who Luke knows very well.
Tulsa King es la serie estrenada el año pasado con Stallone en el papel de Dwight Manfredi, apodado El General. Stallone no es un actor muy expresivo, pero el personaje que interpreta le queda perfecto, el choque generacional, después de estar 25 años en la cárcel, provoca situaciones y diálogos divertidos. La forma de comportarse del protagonista, como un mafioso de los de antes, también genera momentos divertidos. Los personajes secundarios tienen cierta profundidad, cada uno tiene problemas y el reparto los interpreta muy bien, llegamos a preocuparnos por algunos de ellos. Un punto negativo es que creo que todo le resulta demasiado fácil a Manfredi, cómo reúne a su equipo criminal tan rápidamente es un poco inverosímil, pero el personaje cae muy bien y no me molesta ese detalle del guión.
La serie de Schwarzenegger es Fubar y se estrenó este año en Netflix. Me costó un mundo terminarla, fácilmente podría haber sido una miniserie de cuatro episodios, sentí que es demasiado larga. Si la hubieran hecho una serie de episodios de media hora creo que me hubiera gustado. It's a Netflix algorithm series, the aesthetic is the same as many other generic series. The jokes were not funny to me. Schwarzenegger playing Schwarzenegger , spouting lines that on paper may sound funny, but the execution is bad. Instead of making me laugh, they made me angry. Actress Monica Barbaro, playing Emma, struck me as a bland character with no hook. I don't even want to mention the supporting cast, all acting like fools and making jokes for fools. Tulsa King is created by Taylor Sheridan, who knows how to spin good dramas, for example Yellowstone, which I must pick up and watch all the seasons, plus its prequels. He is accompanied by veteran Terence Winter, a name well known to those who watched The Sopranos and Boardawall Empire.
It is unfair of me to compare these two very different series, both in plot and style, but since they star these movie legends, it is inevitable to make some comparisons, just as was done when both were releasing films. I have no doubt that Tulsa King is a funnier and more interesting series, its combination of mafia story, family drama and humor made a very good impression on me. In contrast, Schwarzenegger and his father-daughter CIA agent adventure struck me as a very bland spy story.
Both series have been renewed for a second season, you know which one I want to watch: Tulsa King. The second season of Fubar I'm going to pass it by, I don't want to know anything about that series, it was an ordeal to watch it and I can't stand Arnold's dumb jokes, so I say: Hasta la vista baby....

Es una serie algoritmo de Netflix, la estética es la misma que muchas otras series genéricas. Los chistes no me hicieron gracia. Schwarzenegger haciendo de Schwarzenegger , soltando frases que sobre el papel pueden sonar graciosas, pero la ejecución es mala. En lugar de hacerme reír, me enfadaron. La actriz Monica Barbaro, interpretando a Emma, me pareció un personaje insípido, sin gancho. No quiero ni mencionar al reparto secundario, todos actuando como tontos y haciendo chistes para tontos. Las escenas de acción de Schwarzenegger se nota demasiado que están hechas por un doble, sobre todo cuando el personaje merece más movilidad. Tuve que buscar quién era el creador de esta basura: Nick Santora, que no ha tenido mucha suerte con otras series creadas por él, todas canceladas.

Es injusto por mi parte comparar estas dos series tan diferentes, tanto en argumento como en estilo, pero al estar protagonizadas por estas leyendas del cine, es inevitable hacer algunas comparaciones, al igual que se hizo cuando ambas estrenaban películas. No tengo ninguna duda de que Tulsa King es una serie más divertida e interesante, su combinación de historia mafiosa, drama familiar y humor me causó muy buena impresión. En cambio, Schwarzenegger y su aventura de padre e hija agente de la CIA me pareció una historia de espías muy sosa.
Ambas series han sido renovadas por una segunda temporada, ya sabes cuál quiero ver: Tulsa King. La segunda temporada de Fubar la voy a pasar de largo , no quiero saber nada de esa serie, era un suplicio verla y no soporto los chistes tontos de Arnold, por eso le digo: Hasta la vista baby....
