Hello everyone from Hive, I hope you are all doing great. This time I want to talk to you about a series that undoubtedly impacted a lot of people, and I was looking forward to sharing my opinions with you... today I'm going to talk to you about: Dhamer - Monster, the story of Jeffrey Dhamer... I have to be honest, at first I didn't really know what to expect, I mean, getting into Jeffrey Dahmer's head already gave me an idea, but the way the series tells it catches you, hypnotizes you... it's uncomfortable, it makes you tense, sometimes it really gives you chills, but at the same time it's filmed in a beautiful way, and there's something about how it looks, that dense, dirty vibe with a sickly yellowish color, that just hooks you like crazy... honestly, if you have a strong stomach and you like getting into the darkest part of people, you're sure to get hooked right away.
From the first minute, I was surprised that the series didn't just focus on showing the gruesome things we've seen in other true crime stories. No, here they get right into Dahmer's head... it's not to glorify the horrible, it's to understand how a kid who seemed normal could turn into someone so monstrous. The series does an incredible job showing how he was left alone as a child, the trauma he lived through and the chaos he had inside, his loneliness, sexual confusion and insecurity, which deformed his mind and led him down a super intense path. I felt an almost strange empathy for the victims, because the series makes you experience the rawness of the danger they were in... it hits you hard emotionally, and it stays with you long after you turn off the TV. One of the strong points, for me, is Evan Peters' performance...
I don't know if you've seen him in anything else lately, but in this series he completely transforms into Dahmer! His performance is complex, it gives you goosebumps, it's twisted and it's truly scary, it's as if he managed to capture that emptiness in Dahmer's soul, every gesture and every phrase opens a window to that disturbed mind behind that facade that we all know... knowing that he was inspired by real interviews for his performance gives it another layer of reality, making everything even more disturbing... for me it was like I felt a mix of fascination and fear every time he appeared on screen.
Hola a todos amigos de Hive, espero que estén super bien, en esta ocasión les quiero hablar de una serie que sin duda impacto a mucha gente, y ya tenía ganas de compartirles mis opiniones.. hoy les voy a hablar de: Dhamer - Monster, la historia de Jeffrey Dhamer.. Les tengo que ser sincero, al principio no sabía bien qué esperar, o sea, meterme en la cabeza de Jeffrey Dahmer ya me daba una idea, pero la forma en que la serie te lo cuenta te atrapa, te hipnotiza.. es incómoda, te pone tenso, a veces te da escalofríos de verdad, pero a la vez está filmada de una manera hermosa, y hay algo en cómo se ve, esa onda densa y sucia con un color amarillento medio enfermizo, que te engancha que no veas.. honestamente, si tienes el estómago fuerte y te gusta meterte en lo más oscuro de la gente, seguro que te enganchas al toque.
Desde el minuto uno, me sorprendió que la serie no se quedara solo en mostrar lo escabroso, lo que ya vimos en otras historias de crímenes reales, no, acá se meten de lleno en la cabeza de Dahmer.. no es para glorificar lo horrible, es para entender cómo un pibe que parecía normal se pudo convertir en alguien tan monstruoso, la serie hace un trabajo increíble mostrando cómo lo dejaron solo de chico, el trauma que vivió y el caos que tenía adentro, su soledad, la confusión sexual y la inseguridad, que le deformaron la cabeza y lo llevaron por un camino super intenso. A mí me pasó que sentí una empatía casi rara por las víctimas, porque la serie te hace vivir lo crudo del peligro que corrían.. te pega fuerte emocionalmente, y te queda dando vueltas en la cabeza mucho después de apagar la tele, uno de los puntos fuertes, para mí, es la actuación de Evan Peters..
No sé si lo vieron en algo más últimamente, pero en esta serie ¡se transforma en Dahmer por completo! Su actuación es compleja, te pone la piel de gallina, es retorcida y da miedo de verdad, es como si hubiera logrado captar ese vacío en el alma de Dahmer, cada gesto y cada frase te abren una ventana a esa mente perturbada detrás de esa fachada que todos conocemos.. saber que se inspiró en entrevistas reales para su actuación le da otra capa de realidad, haciendo que todo sea aún más perturbador.. a mí me pasaba que sentía una mezcla de fascinación y miedo cada vez que salía en pantalla.
Another thing that interested me was how the series looks... there's a strange, almost surreal wave between the music, the textures, the colors and the lights that creates something that I can only describe as a "visual magma", it's like the whole image was filled with a wave of decadence and disgust, that reminds you all the time how rotten this guy was inside... but, watch out, in the middle of so much darkness, the story grabs you... I liked that the series didn't stay silent with a bigger social issue, it hits hard at American institutions and society in general, and in a super current way, especially showing how the lack of psychological help, the racism of the police and the failures of the system made a guy like Dahmer continue doing his thing without anyone stopping him... for example, the series shows you how the police completely ignored the complaints of the neighbors who said that there were strange things and bad smells coming out of Dahmer's apartment... and on top of that, they show the case of a guy who managed to escape from his apartment, but the police returned him to Dahmer.. wow, they didn't pay attention to the witnesses, because they didn't give a damn due to racism and prejudice.. those scenes clearly show you how the failures of the system were key for this guy to continue killing people, especially showing how the lack of psychological help, the racism of the police and the failures of the system made a guy like Dahmer continue doing his thing without anyone interfering..
It makes you think, right?, that sometimes the craziest thing is not only in the head of the crazy one, but in the systems that are supposed to take care of us.. but well, I must say that the series has its weak moments.. there were times when I felt that it was too long, some chapters, like 1 and 6, seemed to last longer than necessary, as if the creators wanted to tell everything, down to the last detail.. sometimes it got repetitive, and more than once I found myself looking at the clock, why should I tell you? to lie... but, even though at times it lacked rhythm, I can't deny that the first chapter was like a perfect thriller, it hooked you straight away and immersed you headlong into its world, it's a shame that sometimes, afterwards, the intensity dropped a bit.
Otra cosa que me intereso fue cómo se ve la serie.. hay como una onda rara, casi surrealista, entre la música, las texturas, los colores y las luces que crea algo que solo puedo describir como un "magma visual", es como si toda la imagen estuviera llena de una onda de decadencia y asco, que te recuerda todo el tiempo lo podrido que estaba este tipo por dentro.. pero, ojo, en medio de tanta oscuridad, la historia te atrapa.. me gustó que la serie no se quedara callada con un tema social más grande, le da duro a las instituciones gringas y a la sociedad en general, y de una manera súper actual, sobre todo mostrando cómo la falta de ayuda psicológica, el racismo de la policía y las fallas del sistema hicieron que un tipo como Dahmer siguiera haciendo de las suyas sin que nadie le parara los pies.. por ejemplo, la serie te muestra cómo la policía ignoró olímpicamente las denuncias de los vecinos que decían que había cosas raras y olores feos que salían del apartamento de Dahmer.. y encima, muestran el caso de un chico que logró escaparse de su departamento, pero los policias lo devolvieron a Dahmer.. wow, no hicieron caso a los testigos, porque les importó un pepino por racismo y prejuicios.. esas escenas te muestran clarito cómo las fallas del sistema fueron clave para que este tipo siguiera matando gente, especialmente mostrando cómo la falta de ayuda psicológica, el racismo de la policía y las fallas del sistema hicieron que un tipo como Dahmer siguiera haciendo de las suyas sin que nadie interfiriera..
Te hace pensar, ¿verdad?, que a veces lo más loco no está solo en la cabeza del loco, sino en los sistemas que se supone que nos tienen que cuidar.. pero bueno, debo decir que la serie tiene sus momentos flojos.. hubo veces que sentí que se alargaba mucho, algunos capítulos, como el 1 y el 6, parecían durar más de lo necesario, como si los creadores quisieran contarlo todo, hasta el último detalle.. a veces se ponía repetitivo, y más de una vez me encontré mirando el reloj, para qué les voy a mentir.. pero, a pesar de que a veces le faltaba ritmo, no puedo negar que el primer capítulo era como un thriller perfecto, te enganchaba de una y te metía de cabeza en su mundo, lástima que a veces, después, se bajaba un poco la intensidad.
A question comes to mind that doesn't leave me calm: is it right to show evil like this, so raw on the screen? The series asks itself that question too, as if it's aware that these stories can easily go too far towards the morbid... it deliberately shows you that thin line between getting hooked on horror and, unintentionally, ending up making what it criticizes seem cool, do you understand? I spent my time thinking if it was morally correct to show these things like this, without a filter, especially when you think about how the victims and their families suffer forever... watch out, there's something interesting narrative here: instead of just showing blood and guts, the series forces you to follow Dahmer's nosedive, as if you were walking next to someone who hates with all his soul what he's becoming... it's an idea that disturbs you, but it's so well done that you can't help but feel drawn to that twisted internal journey, even though each step you take deeper into his mind makes your hair stand on end.
And let's not forget that they remind you all the time that the system had a lot to do with it, that adds another layer of discomfort and urgency when watching the series... I've always liked series that challenge you, that make you think and feel things that are not easy to digest, and this one falls into that category... it's one of those shows that leaves you with more questions than answers, not only about Dahmer's life, but about society, mental health and justice... there are moments where the series slows down or the story feels like it's dragging on too long, but they're small details in a story that, overall, is disturbing and entertaining.
Me surge una pregunta que no me deja tranquilo: ¿está bien mostrar el mal así, tan crudo en la pantalla? La serie como que se pregunta eso también, como que es consciente de que estas historias se pueden ir para el lado del morbo muy fácil.. te muestra a propósito esa línea delgada entre engancharte con el horror y, sin querer, terminar haciendo que lo que critica parezca cool, ¿me entienden? Yo me la pasé pensando si era moralmente correcto mostrar estas cosas así, sin filtro, sobre todo cuando piensas en cómo sufren las víctimas y sus familias por siempre.. ojo, que acá hay algo narrativo interesante: en vez de solo mostrar sangre y tripas, la serie te obliga a seguir la caída en picada de Dahmer, como si estuvieras caminando al lado de alguien que odia con toda su alma en lo que se está convirtiendo.. es una idea que te perturba, pero está tan bien hecha que no puedes evitar sentirte atraído por ese viaje interno tan retorcido, aunque cada paso que das más adentro de su mente te ponga los pelos de punta.
Y no nos olvidemos que te recuerdan todo el tiempo que el sistema tuvo mucho que ver, eso le suma otra capa de incomodidad y urgencia a la hora de ver la serie.. a mí siempre me han gustado las series que te desafían, que te hacen pensar y sentir cosas que no son fáciles de digerir, y esta entra en esa categoría de cabeza.. es de esos shows que te dejan con más preguntas que respuestas, no solo sobre la vida de Dahmer, sino sobre la sociedad, la salud mental y la justicia.. hay momentos donde la serie se pone lenta o la historia se siente como que se alarga demasiado, pero son detalles chicos en una historia que, en general, es perturbadora y entretenida.
Do I recommend it? Yep, but I have to tell you that this series is not for everyone... if you are disgusted by blood or strong things, or if you prefer a calmer true crime, maybe it will shock you a little... but if you are encouraged to watch something that makes you think and feel strong things, and you can stand that sometimes it gets a little slow so that the story is more complete, then watch it! In the end, I give this series an 8 out of 10... the grade is for the performances that are from another planet (special mention for Evan Peters, please), for what it makes you think about society and for how they dared to show everything visually...
It left me disturbed and thinking, a strange mix that is not seen much on television today! Because it's hard to find series that make you feel strong things and at the same time make you reflect without falling into cheap morbidity or taking the subject lightly... you need a story told with care so that you connect with the characters without feeling manipulated or that they are showing you horrible things just for the sake of it, and this series achieves that... it's a journey into darkness... that disturbs and captivates you. La recomiendo? Sip, pero tengo que decirles que sta serie no es para cualquiera.. si te da asco la sangre o las cosas muy fuertes, o si prefieres el true crime más tranquilo, quizás te choque un poco.. pero si te animas a ver algo que te haga pensar y sentir cosas fuertes, y soportas que a veces se ponga un poco lenta para que la historia sea más completa, entonces ¡Mírala! Al final, le doy a esta serie un 8 de 10.. la nota es por las actuaciones que son de otro planeta (mención aparte para Evan Peters, por favor), por lo que te hace pensar sobre la sociedad y por cómo se animaron a mostrar todo visualmente..
A mí me dejó perturbado y pensando, ¡una mezcla rara que no se ve mucho en la televisión de hoy! Porque es difícil encontrar series que te hagan sentir cosas fuertes y a la vez te hagan reflexionar sin caer en el morbo barato o sin tomarse el tema a la ligera.. necesitás una historia contada con cuidado para que te conectes con los personajes sin sentirte manipulado o que te están mostrando cosas horribles solo por mostrar, y esta serie lo logra.. es un viaje a la oscuridad.. que te perturba y te cautiva.
