Una de las películas más mencionadas con temática LGBTIQ 🏳️🌈 de estos últimos años es La chica Danesa, pero ¿por qué es tan popular? Según mi percepción, esta película es una absoluta masterpiece y trataré de explicarles porqué.
One of the most talked-about LGBTIQ- themed 🏳️🌈 films in recent years is The Danish Girl, but why is it so popular? In my perception, this movie is an absolute masterpiece, and I will try to explain why.
Tiene una buena trama, una historia conmovedora (al menos para mí) y una serie de acontecimientos interesantes que te hacen seguir viendo y decir: ¿qué es lo que pasará?
It has a good plot, a moving story (at least for me), and a series of interesting events that keep you watching and thinking: what will happen next?
Esta es la adaptación cinematográfica de la historia real de Lili Elbe, de una de las primeras mujeres transexuales que decidió someterse a la tan temida operacion de reasignación de sexo.
This is the film adaptation of the true story of Lili Elbe, one of the first transgender women who decided to undergo the much-feared sex reassignment surgery.
La historia de desarrolla en alguna parte de Dinamarca, y gira en torno a Gerda y su esposo Einar Wegener, un gran pintor bastante aclamado y reconocido por los amantes del arte y muchos de sus colegas. Su esposa que también es pintora un día necesita hacer el retrato de una mujer con un vestido en específico, pero le hace falta una modelo por lo que como medida de último minuto le pide a su esposo que se coloque el vestido y pose para retratarlo. Al inicio él se niega, pero termina accediendo finalmente.
The story takes place somewhere in Denmark and revolves around Gerda and her husband Einar Wegener, a great painter quite acclaimed and recognized by art lovers and many of his colleagues. One day, his wife, who is also a painter, needs to do a portrait of a woman in a specific dress, but she lacks a model. As a last-minute measure, she asks her husband to wear the dress and pose for her. At first, he refuses but eventually agrees.
Acá nos hacen percibir el verdadero peso de este acontecimiento, al principio se le nota tenso, nervioso y avergonzado, posteriormente se puede ver a Einar realmente anonadado, aturdido y fascinado, como si a medida que se relaja estuviera atravesando poco a poco una dimensión nueva, como si estubiera experimentando la pieza fundamental de un algo, una parte de sí mismo a la que teme y que al mismo tiempo anhela, entró perfectamente en personaje y fue la mejor modelo que pudiera existir. Sólo durante ese momento actuó como si se hubiera convertido en otra persona, y en efecto, este es el primer momento en el que su alterego "Lili" emerge desde lo más profundo y oculto de su ser.
Here we perceive the true weight of this event; at first, he appears tense, nervous, and embarrassed. Later, we see Einar genuinely astonished, dazed, and fascinated, as if he were gradually crossing into a new dimension, as if he were experiencing the fundamental piece of something, a part of himself that he fears yet simultaneously longs for. He perfectly embodied the character and became the best model that could exist. Only during that moment did he act as if he had become another person, and indeed, this is the first moment when his alter ego "Lili" emerges from the depths of his being.

Siento que esta pareja tiene una dinámica y una química increíbles al principio de la historia, por alguna razón ambos destilan sensualidad, al mismo tiempo ternura y honestidad cuando interactúan... A pesar de que hay muchas malas acciones o equivocaciones injustificables por parte de los dos, trataron de apoyarse mutuamente, ser flexibles y continuar.
I feel that this couple has an incredible dynamic and chemistry at the beginning of the story; for some reason, both exude sensuality while simultaneously showing tenderness and honesty when they interact... Despite many wrong actions or unjustifiable mistakes on both sides, they tried to support each other, be flexible, and continue.
Me impresiona la capacidad de ambos de priorizar el aprecio y el respeto que se tienen, un amor que se transforma para convertirse en una complicidad un poco dolorosa, de dos personas que ya no pueden ser amantes, pero que deciden mantenerse cerca. Es un giro completamente extraño en su vínculo, pero al mismo tiempo eso es lo que lo hace interesante. Hubieron muchos momentos de cercanía, y de soledad para ambos.
I am impressed by their ability to prioritize the appreciation and respect they have for each other—a love that transforms into a somewhat painful complicity between two people who can no longer be lovers but decide to stay close. It’s a completely strange twist in their bond, but at the same time, that’s what makes it interesting. There were many moments of closeness and loneliness for both.
Todo el proceso de aceptación y transición es doloroso y liberador para ambos personajes. Te aprieta el corazón y te hace sentir contrariado.
The entire process of acceptance and transition is painful and liberating for both characters. It tugs at your heart and leaves you feeling conflicted.

Es interesante e impactante que en esa época, "sentirse una mujer" se interpretaba como una enfermedad psiquiátrica que necesitaba ser curada con urgencia. No existía comprensión en cuanto a estos temas.
It is interesting and shocking that during that time, "feeling like a woman" was interpreted as a psychiatric illness that urgently needed to be cured. There was no understanding regarding these issues.
• La narrativa visual • ✨👁️👁️✨ • The Visual Narrative •
La fotografía y escenografía tienen un veinte de diez para mí. La película te envuelve visualmente en su propio ambiente, utilizan una paleta de colores cálida en la que predominan colores tierra y pasteles, una iluminación natural y a veces artificial que da una sensación de intimidad y nostalgia, te ubica en un lugar medianamente antiguo, que es en el que se desarrolla la historia. La historia se narra tanto con los acontecimientos de las escenas, como con las características visuales de cada una, de esta manera transmiten y evocan lo que desean.
The cinematography and set design get a twenty out of ten from me. The film visually envelops you in its own atmosphere, using a warm color palette dominated by earth tones and pastels, with natural and sometimes artificial lighting that creates a sense of intimacy and nostalgia, placing you in a somewhat old-fashioned setting where the story unfolds. The narrative is conveyed not only through the events of the scenes but also through the visual characteristics of each one, thereby transmitting and evoking what they wish.

La película destaca el coraje de Lili al buscar vivir auténticamente y el impacto que su viaje tiene en quienes la rodean.

El valor de descubrir quienes somos y la lucha constante por ser nosostros mismos y aceptarnos. En ocasiones tratamos de obligarnos a ser felices o estar tranquilos en nuestra zona de confort porque tenemos mucho miedo de hacer lo que realmente queremos. Ser quienes realmente somos a veces implica ser diferentes, y la sociedad suele temerle a esta diferencia, por lo que su reacción primitiva es atacar y excluir aquello que para ellos es una amenaza.
The value of discovering who we are and the constant struggle to be ourselves and accept ourselves. Sometimes we try to force ourselves to be happy or to feel comfortable in our comfort zone because we are so afraid to do what we truly want. Being who we really are sometimes means being different, and society often fears this difference, leading to a primitive reaction of attacking and excluding what they perceive as a threat.
Podemos hallar una manera de florecer, o resignarnos a vivir reprimidos y estancados en un molde de "normalidad" definido por la sociedad, la familia, o los conocidos.
We can find a way to flourish, or resign ourselves to living repressed and stagnant in a mold of "normality" defined by society, family, or acquaintances.
La dificultad de tomar una decisión: a veces la felicidad, la libertad y la capacidad de sentirse completo tienen un costo tan elevado que nos hace dudar de si realmente valen la pena. Hay quienes preferieren un tormento pasible, que una felicidad tormentosa.
The difficulty of making a decision: sometimes happiness, freedom, and the ability to feel complete come at such a high cost that it makes us doubt whether they are truly worth it. Some prefer a manageable torment over a tumultuous happiness.
¿Pero... Hay una pregunta que me hago a mí misma con esta película: ¿Existe un límite para el valor?, Hay cosas que para muchos no son negociables y prefieren arriesgar su vida, que vivir siendo prisioneros dentro de su propia piel... y ya sea que eso esté bien o mal, es algo que me parece bastante fuerte.
¿Qué hay de tí? Eres de los que preferiría vivir sintiéndose atrapado? ¿O te pondrías en riesgo tratando de liberarte?
But... there is a question I ask myself with this film: Is there a limit to courage? There are things that for many are non-negotiable, and they would rather risk their lives than live as prisoners in their own skin... and whether that is right or wrong, it seems quite powerful to me.
