Hola Hivers amantes de las películas y series, en esta ocasión así como se ha hecho costumbre en mi contenido, sigo atento a lo nuevo en el catálogo que nos ofrece uno de los servicios de streaming más importantes del mundo, hablo específicamente de la plataforma de Netflix, la cual siempre va agregando nuevas producciones, algunos son buenos, otros la verdad que decepcionan un poco y para eso he querido crear este tipo de contenido para ya tener algunas ideas y una opinión sin spoilers (mas allá de la sinopsis y el tráiler) de las nuevas películas disponibles en esta importante plataforma en la industria del entretenimiento.
En esta ocasión he puesto bajo la lupa una producción estrenada limitadamente en el festival de cine de Sundance en el año 2020, sin embargo, es estrenada en Netflix el 3 de septiembre de este año 2021. Podríamos decir que su estreno abierto al público se realiza mediante esta plataforma, que con una duración que llega a casi las dos horas nos envuelve en una trama que la podemos catalogar dentro del género de drama.
Sinopsis:
Luego de los ataques del 11 de Septiembre, Kenneth Feinberg, un reconocido abogado estará trabajando bajo acuerdo del gobierno y de las aerolíneas para compensar monetariamente a las familias afectadas por los atentados terroristas. Intentará determinar en números bajo una formula el monto para determinar cuánto valen las vidas de los miles de fallecidos en una de las tragedias más grandes en los Estados Unidos.
Análisis de la Película
Muchas producciones pueden ser emocionantes, disparos, sangre, acción, un ritmo rápido que puedan acelerar el corazón del espectador, sin embargo, también hay producciones que no necesitan ese conjunto de aspectos o características para que puedan ser entretenidas. En mi caso disfruto de las buenas historias, la estructura de la trama y el guion, complementado por buenas actuaciones, si leemos la sinopsis de esta película sabremos que no nos espera un ritmo acelerado ni acción, pero no deja de ser un buen entretenimiento a pesar de que no es del tipo de películas más comerciales con grandes efectos visuales, todo lo contrario, esta película nos presenta un ritmo lento, pausado pero que desarrolla una muy buena historia, una buena estructura en la trama y que además nos deja un buen mensaje.
Esta es una película reflexiva y aunque en español nos muestra un título aparentemente filosófico, es una pregunta directa ¿Cuánto vale la Vida?, es decir, que la respuesta debe expresarse en números, un monto para especificar el valor monetario de un individuo que en este caso murió ante los atentados terroristas del 11S. La introducción o los primeros minutos nos muestran concretamente este aspecto, lo que nos introduce inmediatamente en el carril correcto para comprender el tema de esta película.
¿Cuánto Vale la Vida?
Esta es la pregunta en cuestión la cual se desarrolla en toda la trama, desde cierto punto de vista totalmente cuantitativo y monetario existiría diferencias marcadas en cuanto al valor. Evidentemente el valor de las personas no debería regirse por tales números, sin embargo, para compensar a las victimas ante una avalancha de demandas y la posibilidad del debacle de las aerolíneas se afrontó la posibilidad de otorgarle un número, un valor cuantitativo a las vidas expresadas en un cheque.
Lucha de Poderes
En esta producción observamos la constante lucha entre poderes separados por sus clases sociales. Si afrontamos esta situación de manera objetiva el valor monetario de un CEO o alto ejecutivo sería superior a un lavaplatos, pero, ¿Es justo? ¿Es respetuoso? ¿Compensaría el vacío que deja familiarmente? Todos estos aspectos que simplemente no entran en las estadísticas y las matemáticas se abordan a lo largo de la producción.
La ayuda financiera puede ser el escudo a males mayores a la economía, desde cierto punto de vista notaremos un mensaje claro, las corporaciones se escudan tras este tipo de fondos para evitar demandas colectivas que pueden acarrear consecuencias en bolsa y el desplome de la economía y por supuesto notaremos un en ciertas escenas un toque conspiratorio para favorecer en sobremanera a las familias de los adinerados ejerciendo una presión incesante sobre el protagonista.
¿Estadística o Ser Humano'
Por momentos en la película las muertes y las familias se manejan como simples números en una tabla de cálculo, pero se afronta la realidad en la vida de las familias y que nos hace reflexionar de cómo nos puede observar los altos cargos de un gobierno. Esta falta de empatía por momentos parece que juega en contra de los objetivos de Feinberg lo que le hace ganar desprecio de parte de las personas que intenta ayudar.
En algunas escenas notaremos la carga psicológica que llevarán los abogados que ayudan en el caso, hablando con las víctimas y sintiendo esa empatía que no se siente con los datos estadísticos, observando las consecuencias sociales más que las meramente económicas que causó el atentado, otorgándoles una nueva perspectiva para el caso.
Drama
Notaremos que la película nos otorga drama al exponer los casos de las familias de las víctimas, sin embargo, no es un drama marcado, constante y que nos haga sentir emociones verdaderamente fuertes. Desde mi punto de vista le falta ese aspecto emocional que nos envuelvan y que hagan que el espectador se involucre más con los sentimientos de esas familias, sin embargo, es compensado con la buena estructura argumental que va desarrollando la trama al transcurrir los minutos.
Actuaciones
No puedo hablar de esta película sin resaltar la actuación de Michael Keaton y Stanley Tucci, llevan a cabo un excelente trabajo dando vida a sus personajes, personas totalmente opuestas y con una forma de pensar bastante contraria en cuanto a cómo abordar la situación. Desde mi punto de vista ambos personajes son ese condimento especial que nos presenta la película en una trama pausada pero al mismo tiempo interesante.

Opinión Final
La película no presenta un drama impactante, tampoco un giro inesperado ni muchas sorpresas, de hecho es bastante predecible, sin embargo, veo que es una película con una esencia interesante en cuanto a originalidad abordando un tema bastante sensible. Me parece que sus argumentos y la narrativa van haciendo que el espectador se vaya involucrando en la historia al pasar los minutos.
La película nos otorga una sensación de intriga debido a que no sabremos si el plan funcionará correctamente, esto es un aspecto positivo y nos mantiene atentos a la pantalla hasta el final. Desde mi punto de vista la historia es bastante interesante desde la sinopsis, me presenta un enfoque nuevo para un tema que se ha repetido mucho tanto en películas como en documentales a lo largo de dos décadas.
Netflix estrena esta película cerca del aniversario número 20 de la tragedia que conmocionó al mundo en su momento, indudablemente esto le añade un marco para el mercadeo de esta producción, añadiendo ambos actores que son desde mi punto de vista un foco de comercialización y en este caso no decepcionan.
Me parece una producción entretenida hasta el final, así como lo mencioné al comienzo de este post, no es una producción muy comercial y quizás a una buena parte del público le parezca aburrida, sin embargo, nos ofrece una historia muy interesante además de una buena estructura en su narrativa lo que compensa algunas carencias en cuanto a las emociones.
¿La Recomiendo?
Si, sin dudas la recomiendo, me parece una producción con un muy buen trabajo y con un mensaje emotivo y al mismo tiempo reflexivo. A veces las buenas películas no son las más comerciales o la que nos propongan los mejores efectos visuales, a mi juicio esta ha sido de las mejores adquisiciones de Netflix en estas últimas semanas.

We could say that its premiere open to the public is made through this platform, which with a duration that reaches almost two hours wraps us in a plot that we can catalog it within the drama genre.
Synopsis:
After the September 11 attacks, Kenneth Feinberg, a renowned lawyer will be working under agreement of the government and airlines to monetarily compensate the families affected by the terrorist attacks. He will try to determine in numbers under a formula the amount to determine how much the lives of the thousands who died in one of the biggest tragedies in the United States are worth.
Film Analysis
Many productions can be exciting, shootings, blood, action, a fast pace that can accelerate the heart of the viewer, however, there are also productions that do not need that set of aspects or characteristics to be entertaining. In my case I enjoy good stories, the structure of the plot and the script, complemented by good performances, if we read the synopsis of this film we know that we do not expect a fast pace or action, but it is still a good entertainment even though it is not the most commercial films with great visual effects, on the contrary, this film presents a slow, leisurely pace but develops a very good story, a good structure in the plot and also leaves us a good message.
This is a reflective film and although in Spanish it shows us an apparently philosophical title, it is a direct question: How much is Life worth, that is to say, that the answer must be expressed in numbers, an amount to specify the monetary value of an individual who in this case died before the terrorist attacks of 9/11. The introduction or the first few minutes show us concretely this aspect, which introduces us immediately in the right lane to understand the theme of this film.

This is the question in question which is developed throughout the plot, from a totally quantitative and monetary point of view there would be marked differences in value. Evidently the value of people should not be governed by such numbers, however, to compensate the victims in the face of an avalanche of lawsuits and the possibility of the airline debacle, the possibility of giving a number, a quantitative value to the lives expressed in a check, was faced.

In this production we observe the constant struggle between powers separated by their social classes. If we face this situation objectively, the monetary value of a CEO or top executive would be superior to a dishwasher, but is it fair? Is it respectful? Would it compensate for the void it leaves in the family? All of these aspects that simply do not enter into statistics and mathematics are addressed throughout the production.
Financial aid can be the shield to greater evils to the economy, from a certain point of view we will notice a clear message, corporations hide behind this type of funds to avoid class action lawsuits that can lead to consequences in the stock market and the collapse of the economy and of course we will notice in certain scenes a conspiratorial touch to greatly favor the families of the wealthy exerting relentless pressure on the protagonist.
Statistics or Human Being
At times in the film the deaths and families are handled as simple numbers on a calculating chart, but the reality in the lives of the families is confronted and it makes us reflect on how we can be observed by the higher ups in a government. This lack of empathy at times seems to work against Feinberg's goals and earns him scorn from the people he is trying to help.
In some scenes we will notice the psychological burden that the lawyers who help in the case will carry, talking to the victims and feeling that empathy that is not felt with the statistical data, observing the social consequences more than the merely economic ones caused by the attack, giving them a new perspective for the case.
Drama
We will notice that the film gives us drama by exposing the cases of the families of the victims, however, it is not a marked, constant drama that makes us feel really strong emotions. From my point of view it lacks that emotional aspect that involves us and makes the viewer get more involved with the feelings of these families, however, it is compensated with the good plot structure that develops the plot as the minutes go by.
Acting
I can't talk about this movie without highlighting the performance of Michael Keaton and Stanley Tucci, they do an excellent job giving life to their characters, totally opposite people and with a quite opposite way of thinking about how to approach the situation. From my point of view both characters are that special seasoning that presents us the film in a paused but at the same time interesting plot.

The film does not present a shocking drama, nor an unexpected twist or many surprises, in fact it is quite predictable, however, I see that it is a film with an interesting essence in terms of originality addressing a very sensitive subject. It seems to me that its plots and narrative make the viewer get involved in the story as the minutes go by.
The film gives us a sense of intrigue because we will not know if the plan will work properly, this is a positive aspect and keeps us attentive to the screen until the end. From my point of view the story is quite interesting from the synopsis, it presents me with a fresh approach to a topic that has been repeated a lot both in movies and documentaries over two decades.
Netflix releases this film close to the 20th anniversary of the tragedy that shocked the world at the time, undoubtedly this adds a framework for the marketing of this production, adding both actors who are from my point of view a marketing focus and in this case they do not disappoint.
It seems to me an entertaining production until the end, as I mentioned at the beginning of this post, it is not a very commercial production and perhaps a good part of the public may find it boring, however, it offers us a very interesting story and a good structure in its narrative which compensates for some shortcomings in terms of emotions.
Do I recommend it?
Yes, without a doubt I recommend it, it seems to me a production with a very good work and with an emotional and at the same time reflective message. Sometimes good movies are not the most commercial or the one with the best visual effects, in my opinion this has been one of the best acquisitions of Netflix in recent weeks.
