A clear example could be Alfie Salomon in Peaky Blinders, a mocking, charismatic character, who is not as relevant in the main story but when he comes out, like in Venom, who is the protagonist and must do some more moving scenes than he could do like Alfie.
One of the things that is admirable about Tom Hardy is his ability on several occasions to star in characters that have their faces covered, being limited to facial expressions that the character can show, but even when he did Capone where he did not speak much, he felt the essence of the character, without the need for so many dialogues, so many movements, just him and the direction of the director.
