Después de más de 10 meses de espera, la temporada final de Shingeki no Kyojin, Attack on Titan o Ataque de los titanes, llega para darle fin a una historia que sin duda se volvió un anime de culto, y se ha vuelto la serie de anime vista tanto por los aficionados a este estilo de animación, como por muchos que eran ajenos al mismo.
Pero entremos en contexto, y es que a diferencia de la 1ra parte de esta 4ta temporada, con una intro más efusiva, llena de colores, explosiones y un ritmo mucho más épico, esta temporada trae un intro que desde mi perspectiva calza a la perfección, mucho más violento, fuerte y concreto, cargado visualmente de detalles que nos dejan claro el final de esta gran historia.
After over 10 months of waiting, the final season of Shingeki no Kyojin, Attack on Titan or Attack of the Titans, arrives to put an end to a story that undoubtedly became a cult anime, and has become the anime series watched by fans of this style of animation, as well as by many who were unfamiliar with it.
But let's get some context, and unlike the 1st part of this 4th season, with a more effusive Openning, full of colors, explosions and a much more epic rhythm, this season brings an Openning that from my perspective fits perfectly, much more violent, strong and precise, visually loaded with details that make clear the end of this great story.
Tras unos segundos de iniciar el episodio, la cara de la comandante Hange nos recibe advirtiéndonos de que algo no está bien y es que para aquellos con más memoria, que recuerden la explosión con la que cierra el episodio 15 y de la que se muestran algunas escenas en el final de temporada del episodio 16, tuvo consecuencias y bastante graves. Y es que uno de los personajes más queridos de la serie, aparece acto seguido ante los brazos de Hange, innerte, ensangrentado y presuntamente muerto.
Mientras Hange inmóvil sostiene el cuerpo de Levi Ackerman, los miembros de la llamada facción Jagger intentan aprovechar la oportunidad para asegurarse de acabar con la vida de quien al menos físicamente, es la amenaza más grande para ellos y cuando todo parece perdido, el titán que había protegido al cuerpo de Zeke tras la explosión comienza a consumirse en vapor, dando en este sorprendente acto una oportunidad para que Hange escape junto a Levi, que al parecer no está tan muerto.
After a few seconds of starting the episode, the face of the commander Hange receives us and alerts us that something is not right and for those with more memory, remember the explosion with which closes the episode 15 and of which some scenes are shown in the season finale of episode 16, had consequences and quite serious. One of the most beloved characters of the series, appears immediately in the arms of Hange, injured, bloodied and presumed dead.
Hange immobile holds the body of Levi Ackerman, the members of the so-called Jagger faction try to take the opportunity to make sure they end the life of who at least physically, is the greatest threat to them and when all seems lost, the titan that had protected the body of Zeke after the explosion begins to be consumed in steam, giving in this surprising act an opportunity for Hange to escape with Levi, who apparently is not so dead.
Mientras los miembros de la facción Jagger y nosotros nos preguntamos ¿Qué acaba de pasar?, con una respuesta bastante difusa, Zeke responde que no lo tiene claro y que tuvo una especie de visión reveladora, en la que una niña le salvaba. Pero la frase clave aquí está en el momento en que asegura que en ese lugar ya no queda nadie que se le pueda oponer a él y sus planes.
While the members of the Jagger faction and us wonder What just happened?, with a rather diffuse answer, Zeke replies that he is not clear and that he had some sort of revelatory vision, in which a girl saved him. But the key phrase here is in the moment when he assures us that there is no one left in that place who can oppose him and his plans.
Luego de una repetición que muestra el final del capítulo 16, y en una muy rápida continuidad de sucesos, vemos como a Pieck le cortan la mano para liberarlas tanto a ella como a Gabi y que acto seguido se transforme, para llevarse a la pequeña en su boca a un lugar seguro, mientras Porco Galliard comienza el combate contra Eren; Un Eren Jagger ya transformado que a pesar de las advertencias de Jelena decide enfrentar a Marley directamente, provocando así la transformación de Reiner y su titán acorazado.
Jelena da la orden de movilizar las tropas y proteger a Eren a como de lugar y es que a pesar del poder que tiene Eren, el ataque de Marley es masivo; Es así como mientras en la superficie se desarrolla una épica batalla, Onyankopon decide liberar a los amigos y antiguos compañeros de Eren a los que tenían detenidos, con la petición de que le ayuden a proteger a Eren, ya que aunque no esta de acuerdo con los planes de la facción Jagger, considera que aún existe una oportunidad de hacer lo correcto.
After a replay that shows the end of chapter 16, and in a very fast continuity of events, we see how Pieck has her hand cut off to free both her and Gabi and that she immediately transforms, to take the little girl in her mouth to a safe place, while Porco Galliard initiates the fight against Eren; An already transformed Eren Jagger who, despite Jelena warnings, decides to confront Marley directly, thus provoking the transformation of Reiner and his armored titan.
Jelena gives the order to mobilize the troops and protect Eren at any cost, and despite the power that Eren has, Marley's attack is massive; This is how while on the surface an epic battle is taking place, Onyankopon decides to release Eren's friends and former companions who were detained, with the request that they help him protect Eren, because although he does not agree with the plans of the Jagger faction, he considers that there is still a chance to do the right thing.
Una de las cosas que más gusta de esta serie, es que no existen héroes o villanos, y que toda la trama se desarrolla a través de distintos puntos de vista, todos son personas con razones e ideales intentando hacer lo correcto. Es entonces cuando nos conseguimos con el reencuentro paternal del ya no Comandante sino General Magath y la ahora más segura Gabi, que le dice a Pieck y al General la razón por la que Eren aún no usa todo su poder.
Decididos a proteger a Marley y acabar con Eren, el ataque de los Marleyenses es masivo, y como ya advertía Onyankopon, son Eren y poco más 300 soldados leales a Jelena, frente a un ataque aéreo, aproximadamente 500 soldados de Marley y el poder de los titanes Acorazado de Reiner, Mandíbula de Porco y Carguero de Pieck esta vez equipado con un cañón anti-titanes.
One of the things I like most about this series, is that there are no heroes or villains, and that the whole plot is developed through different points of view, everyone is a person with reasons and ideals trying to do the right thing. That's when we get the paternal reunion of the no longer Commander but General Magath and the now more confident Gabi, who tells Pieck and the General the reason why Eren still doesn't use all his power.
Determined to protect Marley and take down Eren, the Marleyan attack is massive, and as Onyankopon already warned, it is Eren and just over 300 soldiers loyal to Jelena, facing an air attack, approximately 500 Marley soldiers and the power of the titans Reiner's Armored, Porco's Jaws and Pieck's Charger this time equipped with an anti-Titan cannon.
Aunque en poder Militar Marley le gana abiertamente a los soldados de Paradis, Eren logra hacerle frente y herir tanto a Porco, como a Reiner, esto incluso tras el primer disparo de Pieck que da en el cerebro del titán limitando parte de su movilidad.
Mientras tanto, aun en la prisión Mikasa aun mentalmente herida no sabe si su deseo de defender a Eren se debe a su propia voluntad o la maldición de su apellido Ackerman, Armin confía nuevamente en Eren y les pide al resto que lo piensen, mientras Connie y Jean aun con más preguntas que respuestas saben que deben tomar una decisión.

Y es así como termina este primer capítulo de una ultima temporada, con Zeke rumbo a su encuentro con Eren, una guerra desatada en Paradis, el cuerpo de Levi y Hange desaparecidos, y los amigos de Eren tomando una decisión, mientras Eren tras recibir un segundo disparo de Pieck y ser empalado por una de sus propias agujas, cierra el capítulo en un alarido que podría fácilmente ser dolor, ira, o el llamado del retumbar.

And that's how this first chapter of a final season ends, with Zeke on his way to meet Eren, a war unleashed in Paradis, the body of Levi and Hange missing, and Eren's friends taking a decision, while Eren after receiving a second shot from Pieck and being impaled by one of his own needles, closes the chapter in a scream that could easily be pain, anger, or the call.
If I'm ready for the next chapter? I doubt anyone is.
