Holii, hace unos días hice la reseña sobre It: Capítulo I, hoy voy a hablar sobre la segunda parte y, en mi opinión muy personal, siento que es la mejor de las dos por cómo la desarrollaron y la manera que cerraron los arcos de personaje de cada uno.
Quiero empezar hablando del casting, las personas encargadas de este hicieron un excelente trabajo como también los encargados del departamento de arte para personificar a los actores, que ya son bastantes parecidos, a los de la primera parte.

Hiii, a few days ago I reviewed It: Chapter I, today I'm going to talk about the second part and, in my very personal opinion, I feel it's the better of the two because of how they developed it and the way they closed the character arcs of each one.
I want to start talking about the casting, the people in charge of it did an excellent job as well as those in charge of the art department to personify the actors, who are already quite similar, to those of the first part.

La historia comienza 27 años después de los acontecimientos ocurridos aquel verano en Derry, se nos presenta que los integrantes de "El Club de los Perdedores" han abandonado el pueblo y han empezado una vida nueva fuera de este, pero por estar tanto tiempo fuera de este, ellos empezaron a olvidar todo lo que pasó con Pennywise como muchas cosas que pasaron esas vacaciones.
El único que se quedó en el pueblo fue Mike quien, durante todos estos años, estuvo estudiando e investigando acerca de Derry como sobre Pennywise, desde sus inicios hasta cómo derrotarlo; él no olvidó nada, así que cuando Pennywise empezó al acecho, llamo al Club para terminar el trabajo.
The story begins 27 years after the events that happened that summer in Derry, we are presented that the members of "The Losers Club" have left the town and have started a new life outside of it, but for being so long away from it, they began to forget everything that happened with Pennywise as many things that happened that vacation.
The only one who stayed in town was Mike who, during all these years, was studying and researching about Derry and Pennywise, from his beginnings to how to defeat him; he didn't forget anything, so when Pennywise started to lurk, he called the Club to finish the job.
La verdad que el argumento no es de sorpresa porque ya fue algo que te dejaron más que claro que pasaría desde la primera película, no esperé que los seis olvidaran absolutamente todo y que lo recordarán, estuviese alterado por sus propias mentes.
Fue muy impactante, debo admitir, el suicidio de Stanley, visualmente fue muy crudo y eso que no muestran nada explícitamente; otro detalle que me hubiese encantado que omitieran fue el hecho de Richie vomitándole a la cámara pero bueno, hablemos de lo que realmente importa acá.
The truth is that the plot is not a surprise because it was already something that they made more than clear that it would happen since the first movie, I didn't expect that the six would forget absolutely everything and that they would remember it, it was altered by their own minds.
It was very shocking, I must admit, Stanley's suicide, visually it was very raw and they don't show anything explicitly; another detail that I would have loved them to omit was the fact of Richie throwing up at the camera but well, let's talk about what really matters here.
Como en la primera entrega, toda la película está plagada de CGI en exceso pero, considero, que está vez sí lograron emplearlo de buena manera; los efectos especiales no te aturden ni abruman al verlo sino que se sienten como parte orgánica de esta, en pocas palabras, gestionaron bien el recurso.
Debo admitir que, aunque sigue sin darme miedo este Pennywise y ya eso es un terrible fracaso porque les recuerdo que le tengo fobia a estos, esta película sí logró asustarme un poco porque, aunque lo siguieron usando sin discreción, el recurso del Jump Scream está un poco mejor empleado, hay más suspenso, más tensión, más peso en la trama y desarrollo en los arcos de los personajes.
As in the first installment, the entire film is plagued with excessive CGI but, I think, this time they managed to use it in a good way; the special effects don't stun or overwhelm you when you see it but feel like an organic part of it, in short, they managed the resource well.
I must admit that, although this Pennywise still doesn't scare me and that's a terrible failure because I remind you that I have a phobia of them, this movie did manage to scare me a little because, although they kept using it without discretion, the Jump Scream resource is a little better used, there is more suspense, more tension, more weight in the plot and development in the arcs of the characters.
Admito que la peor escena de susto que hay es la primera, la de la escena del restaurant, no tiene sentido y hasta sentí las actuaciones un poco forzadas; no sé si es que tenían pensado hacer otra especie de bichos que los asustaran o no lograron hacer a los seres suficientemente terroríficos, pero a mí un insecto raro con cara de bebé no me haría gritar de esa manera y eso que YO LE TENGO FOBIA A LOS BICHOS.
Me gustó muchísimo la forma como plasmaron el ritual o la visión que tuvo Mike cuando visitó a los indígenas, nunca he consumido ninguna sustancia alucinógena pero siempre he considerado que debe ser algo así, no puedes concentrarte en una sola cosa porque tu cerebro está a toda maquina, sudas y tu respiración se acelera mientras tu mente no sabe si enfocarse en tu entorno, tu realidad, o las imágenes que se proyectan en tu mente como si fuesen recuerdos.
I admit that the worst scare scene there is is the first one, the one in the restaurant scene, it doesn't make sense and I even felt the performances a little forced; I don't know if they had planned to make another kind of bugs that would scare them or they didn't manage to make the beings scary enough, but to me a weird insect with a baby face wouldn't make me scream like that and I'M AFRAID OF BUGS.
I really liked the way they captured the ritual or the vision that Mike had when he visited the Indians, I have never consumed any hallucinogenic substance but I have always considered that it must be something like that, you can't concentrate on one thing because your brain is at full speed, you sweat and your breathing accelerates while your mind doesn't know whether to focus on your surroundings, your reality, or the images that are projected in your mind as if they were memories.
Como comenté en la primera parte de este duo de post, cuando vi el capítulo I por primera vez, me pareció en extremo injusto que Beverly le prestara más atención a Bill que a Ben cuando ella ya sabía que fue Ben el que le escribió el poema; pero sabía que era parte fundamental para el desarrollo de esta segunda película y no me equivoqué.
Al perder la memoria por alejarse de Derry, Beverly olvidó quién había escrito la carta, así que volvió a creer que había sido Bill y gracias a esto, y otros temas externos, es que la historia empieza a desarrollarse porque el triangulo amoroso es el impulso para que todo empiece a tomar curso.
As I commented in the first part of this duo post, when I saw chapter I for the first time, I thought it was extremely unfair that Beverly paid more attention to Bill than to Ben when she already knew that it was Ben who wrote the poem; but I knew that it was a fundamental part for the development of this second movie and I was not wrong.
When Beverly lost her memory because she moved away from Derry, she forgot who had written the letter, so she went back to believing it was Bill and thanks to this, and other external issues, is that the story begins to develop because the love triangle is the impetus for everything to begin to take course.
Un detalle que me pareció increíble y sí o sí tenía que comentarlo acá, es el hecho de que las parejas de los Perdedores ya de adultos son el reflejo de sus pesares de pequeños; ejemplo:
• Beverly tiene una pareja abusiva, controladora y que, sin mostrar mucho, nos da a entender que ha abusado de ella; su papá era abusivo, controlador, manipulador y también nos dieron a entender en varias oportunidades que este abuso de ella de pequeña.
• Eddie tiene una esposa sobreprotectora, hipocondriaca, subida de peso con cabello rubio, que lo atosiga a cada instante y con ánimos de controlarlo constantemente; su madre era igual, sobreprotectora, hipocondriaca, con principios de obesidad, cabello rubio y controladora.
• Bill tiene una esposa que no cree mucho en el potencial que tiene él ni en su talento como escritor, su papá era igual, él no creía que Bill pudiese encontrar a su hermano porque ya lo daban por muerto, ignorando totalmente la increíble habilidad que mostró para recrear a escala los ductos de desague de Derry.
Casualmente, los 4 integrantes faltantes por parejas, son los que, en la película pasada, nunca se les conoció sus padres o no se habló de ellos.
A detail that I found incredible and that I had to comment on here, is the fact that the Losers' partners as adults are a reflection of their pains as children; for example:
• Beverly has an abusive, controlling partner who, without showing much, gives us to understand that he has abused her; her father was abusive, controlling, manipulative and we were also given to understand on several occasions that he abused her as a child.
• Eddie has an overprotective, hypochondriac, overweight wife with blond hair, who harasses him at every moment and constantly wants to control him; his mother was the same, overprotective, hypochondriac, with early obesity, blond hair and controlling.
• Bill has a wife who doesn't believe much in his potential or his talent as a writer, his father was the same, he didn't believe that Bill could find his brother because he was presumed dead, totally ignoring the incredible ability he showed to recreate to scale the sewage ducts of Derry.
Coincidentally, the 4 missing members in pairs are the ones whose parents were never known or spoken of in the last movie.
Las escenas que más me desesperaron y considero que fueron las mejores logradas en toda la película fue:
Cuando Beverly va a su antigua casa a buscar su objeto para el ritual y se encuentra con una señora de apariencia como de actitud muy extraña; toda ese conjunto de escenas me tenía demasiado tensa porque esa señora te daba mala vibra desde el primer segundo que apareció en pantalla pero verla transformada en ese monstruo gigante que la perseguía, me puso los nervios de punta. Cuando va a la puerta y se da cuenta que todo es una ilusión porque realmente todo está deteriorado y ve a Pennywise en una forma humana preparándose para un show, admiro que fue la única vez que el actor Bill Skarsgård, me inspiró miedo sin usar tanto CGI.
The scenes that made me the most desperate and I consider that they were the best achieved in the whole movie were:
When Beverly goes to her old house to look for her object for the ritual and meets a lady with a very strange attitude; that whole set of scenes had me too tense because that lady gave you a bad vibe from the first second she appeared on screen but seeing her transformed into that giant monster that chased her, put my nerves on edge. When she goes to the door and realizes that everything is an illusion because everything is really damaged and she sees Pennywise in a human form preparing for a show, I admire that it was the only time that the actor Bill Skarsgård, inspired me fear without using so much CGI.
Cuando Bill va a rescatar al niño que conoció, que vive en la misma casa donde él vivió y que sabe sabe que Pennywise va tras él, esa escena me dio demasiada ansiedad; odio los laberintos, me dan una ansiedad incontrolable porque me generan claustrofobia, así que un laberinto de espejos y vidrios no es lo que yo llamaría mi lugar feliz.
Esa persecución es estresante y mi ansiedad casi explota cuando Bill tiene que pasar por un espacio bastante estrecho para poder llegar al niño, que realmente, nunca logra alcanzarlo porque había un cristal de por medio; la aparición, en ese momento, de Pennywise, fue la única que me asustó en TODA la película.
When Bill goes to rescue the boy he met, who lives in the same house where he lived and who knows that Pennywise is after him, that scene gave me too much anxiety; I hate mazes, they give me uncontrollable anxiety because they make me claustrophobic, so a maze of mirrors and glass is not what I would call my happy place.
That chase is stressful and my anxiety almost explodes when Bill has to go through a rather narrow space in order to get to the boy, who actually, never manages to reach him because there was glass in the way; the appearance, at that moment, of Pennywise, was the only one that scared me in the ENTIRE movie.
Por último, la escena que también activó mucho mi ansiedad es cuando Beverly y Ben se ahogan en sangre y/o tierra; me equivoqué con la primera entrega, sí había visto una escena donde hubiese tanta sangre como en "El Resplandor" y fue está, no la anterior; en esta oportunidad sí abusaron, de buena manera, de la sangre, AUNQUE, lamentablemente no consiguieron buenos encargados de efectos especiales porque, en ocasiones, la sangre se veía demasiado digital.
Cuando Ben cae en la cueva que él construyó para compartir con sus amigos y esta se empieza a llenar de tierra, fue demasiado estresante porque volvemos a mi claustrofobia. Aquí todo fue muy bonito, la manera en que Beb se da cuenta de que Ben fue quién escribió la nota y el que realmente ha estado enamorado de ella desde el primer momento y bla bala bla, lo importante es que... ¡¡¡EL GORDITO SE QUEDÓ CON LA CHICA!!!.
Finally, the scene that also activated my anxiety is when Beverly and Ben drown in blood and/or dirt; I was wrong with the first installment, I had seen a scene where there was so much blood as in "The Shining" and it was this one, not the previous one; this time they did abuse, in a good way, the blood, ALTHOUGH, unfortunately they didn't get good special effects people because, sometimes, the blood looked too digital.
When Ben falls into the cave he built to share with his friends and it starts to fill with dirt, it was too stressful because we are back to my claustrophobia. Here everything was cute, the way Beb realizes that Ben was the one who wrote the note and the one who has really been in love with her from the first moment and blah blah blah blah, the important thing is that... FATTY GOT THE GIRL!!!
¿De verdad es necesario hablar del final? Lo voy a resumir así sin más:
PATÉTICO
Cómo me vas a decir que un monstruo alienígena, que se le conoce como "EL DEVORADOR DE MUNDOS" por lo absurdamente poderoso y peligroso que es, se extermina haciéndole bullying.
Ok, es el argumento de que los abusadores o bullys son realmente unas personas/seres débiles de mente que atosigan a los demás para resguardar su cobardía como debilidad y que sí les dejas de tener miedo o dejas de tener una actitud sumisa ante ellos, se asustan y revelan su verdadera personalidad; pero cómo me vas a decir que Pennywise se muere porque lo empiezan a llamar "payaso", el argumento es válido, pero la ejecución fue patética.
Is it really necessary to talk about the end? I will summarize it just like that:
PATHETIC
How are you going to tell me that an alien monster, which is known as "THE DEVOURER OF WORLDS" because of how absurdly powerful and dangerous it is, is exterminated by bullying it.
Ok, it's the argument that bullies are really weak-minded people/beings who bully others to protect their cowardice as weakness and that if you stop being afraid of them or stop having a submissive attitude towards them, they get scared and reveal their true personality; but how are you going to tell me that Pennywise dies because they start calling him "clown", the argument is valid, but the execution was pathetic.
La historia de Pennywise no es tan sencilla o vacía como estos remakes la hacen ver, la verdad es un tema muy amplio y haría este post extremadamente largo como tedioso de leer, así que les dejaré por acá un vídeo que resume y explica todo lo que debes saber de It.
The story of Pennywise isn't as simple or empty as these remakes make it seem, the truth is a very broad topic and it would make this post extremely long and tedious to read, so I'll leave here a video that summarizes and explains everything you should know about It.
Repito, It es una novela que tiene demasiado material y, aparte, una muy buena historia; es muy triste que, aun con la tecnología que ha avanzado exponencialmente desde hace muchos años atrás, no hayan podido lograr una buena saga de películas porque tenían bastante tela para cortar.
No supieron gestionar muchos recursos audiovisuales como el CGI o los Jumps Scream, haciendo que la película se volviera predecible y hasta chistosa; aunque le tenga miedo a los payasos, no lograron, casi en lo absoluto, asustarme y eso dice mucho de estos films.
I repeat, It is a novel that has too much material and, besides, a very good story; it is very sad that, even with the technology that has advanced exponentially since many years ago, they couldn't achieve a good movie saga because they had enough material to cut.
They didn't know how to manage many audiovisual resources like CGI or Scream Jumps, making the movie predictable and even funny; even though I'm afraid of clowns, they didn't manage, almost at all, to scare me and that says a lot about these films.
Quiero agradecer a todas las personas que comentaron mi reseña del Capítulo I, fue muy importante para mí y me dieron ideas para traer a esta nueva reseña. Quiero recordar que todo lo que aquí digo es mi perspectiva del film, el arte es netamente relativo.
