Today I come with another entry in the Christmas contest as there are certainly many films in this genre that catch my attention and Polar express is a film worthy of review for several reasons, so let's start 😉
Hoy vengo con otra participación en el concurso de navidad ya que ciertamente hay muchas películas de este genero que me llaman la atención y Polar express es un film digno de reseñar por varias razones, así que empecemos 😉

Overview/Resumen
The film is about a boy who unlike the others is very skeptical, he does not believe in Santa Claus or all that fantastic stuff that surrounds him, however everything changes when a train stops in front of the door of his house during the night, it was a strange locomotive which the driver calls "The Polar Express", this driver invites the boy to get on and tells him that they will go to the North Pole, that is, the land of Santa Claus, when he gets on, the boy realises that the train is full of children, and makes one more stop to pick up another boy who seems to be very poor, he is also a bit antisocial because after hesitating whether to get on the train or not, he decides to isolate himself in a carriage away from the others, but one of the girls who are travelling decides to take him some hot chocolate, this girl is generous and kind, she has a good heart but her problem is that she is very indecisive and she is constantly left with doubts.
La película trata sobre un niño que contrario a los demás es muy escéptico, no cree en Santa Claus ni en todo ese asunto fantástico que lo rodea, sin embargo todo cambia cuando un tren se detiene frente a la puerta de su casa durante la noche, se trataba de una extraña locomotora a la que el conductor llama "El Expreso Polar", este conductor invita al niño a subir y le dice que se dirigirán al Polo Norte, es decir, la tierra de Santa Claus, al subir, el niño se da cuenta de que el tren está lleno de niños, y hace una parada más para recoger a otro niño que parece ser muy pobre, además es un poco antisocial ya que luego de dudar si subir al tren o no, decide aislarse en un vagón apartado de los demás, pero una niña de los que viajan decide llevarle un poco de chocolate caliente, esta chica es generosa y amable, tiene buen corazón pero su problema es que es muy indecisa y se deja llevar por las dudas constantemente.
When they arrive at the North Pole, the children realise that it is an extremely cheerful place, there is music, lights and lots of elves. The driver tells the children that Santa Claus is waiting for them because there will be a ceremony in which he will give the first present to a child, at the end, each of the children who were travelling in the locomotive learns a very valuable lesson for their lives, but what I liked the most was the final sentence. "And though I grew up, the bell still rings for me, as it does for all those who believe".
Cuando llegan al Polo Norte, los niños se dan cuenta de que es un lugar extremadamente alegre, hay música, luces y muchos duendes. El conductor les dice a los niños que Santa Claus los está esperando porque habrá una ceremonia en la que entregará el primer regalo a un niño, al final, cada uno de los niños que viajaba en la locomotora aprende una valiosísima lección para su vida, pero lo que más me gustó fue la frase final. "Y aunque yo crecí, el cascabel todavía suena para mi, como lo hace para todos aquellos que creen".

My Opinion/Mi Opinión
There are many elements worth mentioning in this film, first of all the cinematography and animation, they did an excellent handling of resources, the lights were well used as well as the filters, perfectly selected to set each scene, especially I loved the golden tone that reflected the warmth and solemnity of the moment when everyone finally meet Santa Claus. On the other hand we see an excellent animation that is evident in the movement of elements such as the fabric of the clothes of the characters, it has a very fruity and natural movement.
Hay mucho elementos dignos de mencionar en este film, en primer lugar la fotografía y la animación, hicieron un excelente manejo de recursos, las luces estaban bien empleadas al igual que los filtros, perfectamente seleccionados para ambientar cada escena, sobre todo me encantó el tono dorado que reflejaba la calidez y solemnidad del momento en que todos conocen finalmente a Santa Claus. Por otra parte vemos una excelente animación que se evidencia en el movimiento de elementos como la tela de la ropa de los personajes, tiene un movimiento muy fruido y natural.
But the best of all is the design of the characters, I know there was controversy at the time because many said that the design was generic or even crude, but I did like it, for example, Tonm Hanks is perfectly identifiable as the driver, and both his facial expressions and those of the other characters are quite good and fluid for their time, although he also played other characters, including the boy (something that makes him multifaceted and talented). But what I liked the most was Santa Claus as he is far from the versions we have seen before of this character, cheerful, jovial and smiling, in this film Santa Claus is dressed with a lot of solemnity, he is even surrounded by an aura of light that gives him a divine appearance, he hardly smiles but still transmits warmth, he is like a representation of "God" in a way, who not only delivers gifts, but also teaches valuable lessons.
Pero lo mejor de todo es el diseño de los personajes, sé que hubo polémica en su momento porque muchos decían que el diseño era genérico o incluso burdo, pero a mí sí me gustó, por ejemplo, Tonm Hanks es perfectamente identificable como el conductor, y tanto sus expresiones faciales como las de los demás personajes son bastante buenas y fluidas para su tiempo, aunque también interpretó a otros personajes, incluyendo el niño (algo que lo vuelve multifacético y talentoso) pero lo que más me gustó fue Santa Claus ya que dista mucho de las versiones que hemos visto anteriormente de este personaje, alegre, jovial y risueño, en este film Santa Claus esta envestido de mucha solemnidad, incluso lo rodea un aura de luz que le da una apariencia divina, casi no sonríe pero aún así transmite calidez, es como una representación de "Dios" de cierto modo, que no solo entrega regalos, sino que enseña valiosas lecciones.
Another element that catches my attention and that I think is very important is the depth of the story itself, it may even seem dark and even a little sinister if we see it as children, but as adults we can understand it a little better, and it is made that way on purpose, not as a cheesy movie, but as something that can be enjoyed at any age, But it points directly to our inner child, to our ability to trust and believe in something extraordinary, it's simple, if you don't believe in Santa Claus you can't understand the real meaning of Christmas and all that it implies, and the main character understands this as he learns and applies values such as friendship, companionship and trust.
Otro de los elementos que llama mi atención y que me parece importantísimo es la profundidad de la historia en si, puede que incluso nos parezca oscura y hasta un poco siniestra si la vemos siendo niños, pero de adultos podemos entenderla un poco mejor, y es que está hecha así a propósito, no como una película cursi, sino como algo que se puede disfrutar a cualquier edad, pero apunta directamente a nuestro niño interior, a nuestra capacidad de confiar y creer en algo extraordinario, es simple, si no crees en Santa Claus no puedes comprender el sentido real de la navidad y todo lo que implica, y el protagonista lo comprende mientras aprende y aplica valores como la amistad, el compañerismo y la confianza.
Another thing that is different from other Christmas films is that while the North Pole is presented as a joyful place, it is also a very organised and solemn place where all the elves work together and take their work very seriously, Santa Claus commands respect and in this way conveys the depth of Christmas itself, it is not just about pretty lights, presents and carols, it also invites us to reflect on values, family and Jesus himself who is at the centre of it all, who came into the world as saviour, and does so through the figure of Santa Claus.
Otra de las cosas que se sale de lo común con respecto a otras películas navideñas es que si bien el Polo Norte es presentado como un lugar alegre, es también un lugar muy organizado y solemne donde todos los duendes trabajan en conjunto y se toman demasiado enserio su trabajo, Santa Claus impone respeto y de esta forma nos transmite esa profundidad que tiene la navidad en sí, no solo se trata de luces bonitas, de regalos y villancicos, nos invita también a reflexionar acerca de los valores, de la familia y del propio Jesús que es el centro de todo, quien llegó al mundo como salvador, y lo hace a través de la figura de Santa Claus.
