Sarah is a single mother who recently moved with her only son to a rural house near a forest. One day, after returning from a wonderful walk, they find a strange old woman on the road, a woman who was reciting unintelligible words. while looking towards the same point, days later, while Sarah was in a meeting with her boss and friends from work, they were all commenting on the story of the old woman who they called "Walkie Talkie" said that she had killed her own son, claiming that he was an impostor. But Sarah did not suspect that after her son went to play alone in the woods, something... strange would return, his behavior, his way of being, everything about him makes Sarah think that the old woman might not be crazy, but rather that he was telling the truth.

As you may have realized from my summary (although it was not very detailed to avoid spoilers) this is not a unique or innovative story, but I really liked the way it was executed, the script is fine, the cinematography excellent, I think it is very consistent with the genre that is being handled, but what I liked most about this film were the performances and the way in which the director carried out the chilling scenes, in fact, my favorite scene is the one with the confrontation between Sarah and that thing that pretends to be Christ, her son. The performance of both is wonderful, but I highlight that of James Quinn because he was a small child at the time and he still managed to make his character cause suspicion and even fear with his strange way of being. At the beginning of the story we see that her tender gaze stands out, but we can clearly notice a break when her gaze turned cold and empty. In this particular scene Crhist pretends to be the same as always, but we know that something is not right with him, not only because he did not know what his mother was talking about (I mean a game that they both had in which they made faces to having fun) but because even though he looks innocent, he gives off a breath of deep evil, until he finally gets tired of pretending and lashes out with all his fury.

Tal y como se podrán haber dado cuenta según mi resumen (aunque no fue muy detallista para evitar los spoilers) esta no es una historia única ni innovadora, pero me gustó mucho la forma en la que la ejecutaron, el guion está bien, la fotografía excelsa, pienso que es muy acorde con el genero que se está manejando, pero lo que más me gustó de este film fueron las actuaciones y la forma en la que el director realizó las escenas escalofriantes, de hecho, mi escena favorita es la de la confrontación entre Sarah y esa cosa que pretende ser Christ, su hijo. La actuación de ambos es maravillosa, pero destaco la de James Quinn debido a que era un niño pequeño en ese entonces y aún así logró que su personaje causara recelo y hasta miedo con su extraña manera de ser. Al inicio de la historia vemos que destaca su mirada tierna pero podemos notar claramente un quiebre cuando su mirada se tornó fría y vacía. En esta escena en particular Crhist pretende ser el mismo de siempre, pero sabemos que algo no anda bien con él, no solo porque no sabía de lo que su madre estaba hablando (me refiero a un juego que ambos tenían en el que hacían muecas para divertirse) sino porque aunque aparentemente se ve inocente despide un halito de maldad profunda, hasta que finalmente se cansa de fingir y arremete con toda su furia.

I think it could refer to the dreaded "Doppelganger" also known as "evil twins" beings that, according to what some people believe, live on the other side of mirrors, and in fact, mirrors play an important role in the plot of the film, however it could also refer to a legend of the "changelings" or changed children, in which it is believed that the beings of the forest (fairies, goblins or knomos) kidnap children and replace them with their own children (the children of creatures) However, the plot could allude to something much more serious and real such as Capgras Syndrome, which is a neuropsychiatric disease in which people are convinced someone close to him or her, often a relative, is replaced by an identical impostor, it's a pretty sad disease.

La historia puede tener varias connotaciones u orígenes, y esto es una opinión muy personal. But the best thing about the film is that, despite the fact that I expected a typical bad ending in this story, because films of this type usually disappoint us at the end, it was not like that at all, the director left an ending a little open worse I think that more than all he wanted was to leave it to the interpretation of the viewer.

Pero lo mejor del film es que, a pesar de que yo esperaba un típico mal final en esta historia, porque las películas de este tipo suelen decepcionarnos al final, no fue así en lo absoluto, el director dejó un final un poco abierto peor creo que más que todo lo que quiso fue dejarlo a la interpretación del espectador.
