Several times I have told you that watching movies is something I really enjoy, even when I feel stressed or overwhelmed, I always choose to relax for a while watching at least a part of them. The year 2021 was a great year in the film industry and it brought us very good options to spend time, to be honest the list is quite extensive, but I will reduce it to the 5 movies that I liked the most released in the year 2021.
CRUELLA - Released: May 28, 2021
Cruella es una de las villanas más odiadas de Disney y quizá a eso podemos relacionar la emoción de todo el mundo desde que anunciaron su estreno, sin contar el éxito que fue una vez estrenada! Este live-action de Disney quizás fue una película muy odiada por varios cinéfilos que les gusta un cine más “serio”; pero dentro de este universo live-action que Disney está construyendo desde hace varios años, es una de las más recomendables (con todo y las fallas que tuvo). La trama trata sobre Stella, una joven diseñadora con muchos sueños que tras varios eventos desafortunados se convierte en nuestra villana cruella. La verdad y siendo lo mas honesta me dio algo de risa que en la película animada de 101 Dalmatas, los cachorros eran super tiernos e inocentes PERO en la versión de cruella todos les tenían un miedo tremendo. Es una película que a mi punto de vista es BRUTAL! Pero que mi lento cerebro tuvo que ver al menos dos veces para poder apreciarla por completo. De las actuaciones Por supuesto Emma Stone como Cruella y Emma Thompson como su némesis son lo mejor de la película. De vez en cuando sus interpretaciones son demasiado exageradas, pero luego recuerdas que es un live-action de Disney y te dejas llevar por sus acentos exagerados y duelos de miradas, aunque debo admitir que para ser una película de Disney me pareció un poco oscura pero en lo personal ME ENCANTO.
Cruella is one of Disney's most hated villains and maybe that's the reason for everyone's excitement since they announced its release, not to mention the success it was once it was released! This Disney live-action film was perhaps hated by many moviegoers who like a more "serious" cinema; but within this live-action universe that Disney has been building for several years, it is one of the most recommendable (with all the flaws it had). The plot is about Stella, a young designer with many dreams that after several unfortunate events becomes our villain cruella. To be honest and to be honest, it made me laugh a little bit that in the 101 Dalmatians animated movie, the puppies were super cute and innocent BUT in the cruella version everyone was scared to death of them. It is a movie that in my point of view is BRUTAL! But one that my slow brain had to watch at least twice to fully appreciate. Of course Emma Stone as Cruella and Emma Thompson as her nemesis are the best of the movie. Occasionally their performances are too over the top, but then you remember that it's a Disney live-action and you get carried away with their exaggerated accents and dueling looks, although I must admit that for a Disney movie I found it a bit dark but personally I LOVED it.
The things I didn't like about this movie (aside from how long it can be, justified because they couldn't make that big movie in a short time) is that they tried to romanticize the evilness of a villain by "justifying" her actions, something they have done before with Maleficent, at the end of the movie we can notice that Cruella is not exactly evil but she has a lot of potential to become a horrible villain.
CLIFFORD - Released: November 10, 2021
Siento que esta película no tuvo la fama o el éxito que debió tener, desde muy pequeña fui fanática de la caricatura que lleva el mismo nombre, tanto así que mi primera mascota fue llamada “Clifford” en honor al gran perro rojo que tanto me gustaba jajajaja. Creo que mi amor a esta película surgió por varios motivos 1)Es un clásico, formo parte de mi infancia y recuerdo que cuando vi el trailer por primera vez enloquecí de ganas por verla, 2)Justo en esos días comenzaron mis ganas por querer adoptar un cachorro, pero el tamaño era algo que nos daba un poco de miedo y esa película me recordó que el tamaño de tu amigo peludo realmente, no importa. 3)Fue mejor de lo que esperaba! Jaja suena un poco cruel pero a pesar de gustarme mucho la caricatura no le tenía mucha fé porque sentía que no seria lo mismo y para mi sorpresa realmente me gusto mucho.
I feel that this movie didn't have the fame or the success it should have had, since I was a little girl I was a fan of the cartoon with the same name, so much so that my first pet was called "Clifford" in honor of the big red dog that I liked so much hahahaha. I think my love for this movie came from several reasons 1)It's a classic, it's part of my childhood and I remember when I saw the trailer for the first time I went crazy wanting to see it, 2)Just in those days my desire to adopt a puppy began, but the size was something that gave us a little scared and that movie reminded me that the size of your furry friend really doesn't matter. 3)It was better than I expected! Haha it sounds a little cruel but even though I really liked the cartoon I didn't have much faith in it because I felt it wouldn't be the same and to my surprise I really liked it a lot.
KING RICHARD - Premiere: November 19, 2021
Otra película que siento no fue tan reconocida como debió serlo, una película basada en hechos reales protagonizada por Will Smith ¿podemos pedir algo más? ¡No lo creo! Trata sobre el padre de Serena y Venus Willians y como este se esforzó en formar a sus hijas para convertirlas en las super estrellas que son hoy, un drama que NO debes dejar de ver porque siento que nos da una lección sobre la perseverancia y como todo puede mejorar después de tantos intentos fallidos. Con esta película seré bastante breve porque no tengo ninguna queja, solo las ganas de invitarlos a verla.
Another movie that I feel was not as recognized as it should have been, a movie based on true events starring Will Smith, can we ask for anything more, I don't think so! It's about Serena and Venus Willians' father and how he worked hard to train his daughters to become the superstars they are today, a drama that you should NOT miss because I feel it gives us a lesson about perseverance and how everything can get better after so many failed attempts. With this movie I will be quite brief because I have no complaints, just the desire to invite you to see it.
ENCANTO - Opening: November 24, 2021
¡De nuevo con Disney y películas animadas jajaja, lo siento es que me entretienen mucho! Aunque debo admitir que a pesar de ser estrenada el año pasado no fue sino hasta hace algunas semanas que pude ver esta película animada de Disney. Ubicada en Colombia, encanto nos trae consigo una super mágica experiencia para todas las edades. ¿Las malas noticias? Las de siempre, DEMASIADO MUSICAL, pero tiene sus hits y “No se habla de bruno” es uno de ellos, les juro que me encanto demasiado esa canción tanto así que a veces la tarareo sin darme cuenta jajajaja. En general su trama es bastante buena y entretenida, básicamente se trata de una familia que tienen dones y son excéntricos, incluso un poco espeluznantes, esto suena como a la Familia Addams pero no, son los Madrigal. Con su magia te lleva a un mundo colorido y encantado del realismo mágico colombiano, en esta familia a todos se le han otorgado dones extraordinarios excepto un miembro, nuestra heroína, Mirabel, quien aún tiene que descubrir su propia magia.
Again with Disney and animated movies hahaha, sorry it's just that they entertain me a lot! Although I must admit that despite being released last year it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I was able to see this Disney animated movie. Set in Colombia, enchantment brings with it a super magical experience for all ages. The bad news? The usual, TOO MUSICAL, but it has its hits and "No se habla de bruno" is one of them, I swear I loved that song so much that sometimes I hum it without even realizing it hahahaha. In general its plot is pretty good and entertaining, basically it's about a family that have gifts and are eccentric, even a little creepy, this sounds like the Addams Family but no, they are the Madrigals. With its magic it takes you into a colorful and enchanted world of Colombian magical realism, in this family everyone has been given extraordinary gifts except for one member, our heroine, Mirabel, who has yet to discover her own magic.
DON'T LOOK UP - Opening: December 5, 2021
Mucho se ha dicho sobre esta película y creo que, aunque si ha sonado bastante son pocas quienes pueden decir que es una mala película. Aunque no es un drama basado en hechos reales, ¡ni una película animada de Disney que nos deja una linda reflexión, siento que igual se merece un lugar en este post! Es una película de comedia en la que abunda el humor negro en la que siento que hay muchísimas referencias hacia mas cosas, protagonizada por Leonardo Dicaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, entre otros grandes talentos. “No mires arriba’ no es más que un espejo de cómo nos comportamos como sociedad en la era de las redes sociales y el poder de las corporaciones, los medios de comunicación y la tecnología en un escenario que parece un posible, pero resulta frontalmente tangible y real en uno de los periodos más convulsos de la civilización en varias décadas. Para lograr esto, nuestro director tomo como punto de partida lo que podría ser una trama de cine de catástrofes cliché, y también la cara burocrática de ‘Armageddon’ que sirve como metáfora de un desastre a cámara lenta. Una película que deja mucho para pensar y reflexionar, así que sin ánimos de caer en ningún spoiler solo diré “VEANLA”
A lot has been said about this movie and I think that, although it has been played a lot, there are few who can say that it is a bad movie. Although it is not a drama based on real events, nor an animated Disney movie that leaves us with a nice reflection, I feel it still deserves a place in this post! It's a comedy movie with a lot of black humor in which I feel there are a lot of references to other things, starring Leonardo Dicaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, among other great talents. "Don't look up' is nothing more than a mirror of how we behave as a society in the era of social networks and the power of corporations, media and technology in a scenario that seems like a possible, but it is frontally tangible and real in one of the most turbulent periods of civilization in several decades. To achieve this, our director took as a starting point what could be a cliché disaster movie plot, and also the bureaucratic side of 'Armageddon' that serves as a metaphor for a slow motion disaster. A film that leaves much food for thought and reflection, so without wanting to indulge in any spoilers I'll just say "SEE IT".
My intention as this post was not to extend too much but it always happens to me that I end up getting more excited than necessary giving my opinion hahahaha I would love to know your opinion about these movies or recommend me some.
