Saving Private Ryan is arguably the best world war 2 movies ever made, it tells the story of the original characters of world war 2, about a particular private Ryan who was subject to a rescue mission.
Saving Private Ryan portrays the horrors and brutality of world war 2 which led to the death of more than 60million people. I couldn't help but imagine how horrible this war must have been, it was so easy to imagine these events as they unfolded because of how realistic and immersive the movie was.
Casts
Tom Hanks(Captain Miller)
Tom Hanks played the lead role of captain miller, the highest-ranking officer of the Team that was charged with the mission of saving private Ryan.
Matt Damon(Private Ryan)
Private Ryan who was the center of the rescue attempt was played by Matt Damon.
Tom Sizemore(Sergent Horvath)
Sergent Horvath played by Tom Sizemore was the sergeant in the team and second in command by ranking. He was also more than just a sergeant to captain miller, he was also a friend to him.
Edward Burns(Private Reiben)
Private Reiben played Edward Burns was a private in the team involved in the rescue mission. He however was more than dissatisfied with the fact that more than a whole Team of soldiers are putting themselves in danger to save just one man.
Movie Plot
The movie plot centers on a small team of soldiers on a mission to rescue the fourth son(paratrooper) of an American family who has already lost 3 sons to the war.
Ryan comes from a family of 4 brothers who were recruited to the war, after the death of his other 3 brothers, the US government tasks his rescue operation to a small group of soldiers serving in France during World War 2. Captain John Miller who was a school teacher before the war led a small team of soldiers to rescue private Ryan and withdraw him immediately from the war.
The complexity of the mission and the challenges they met while carrying out this mission further heightened their paranoia and the supposed unreasonableness of the mission, cause it seemed kinda crazy that more than 8 soldiers risk their lives to save just a single soldier who is not more special than an average infantry soldier.
After the beach landing in Normandy, the allied forces were able to break through and take the shores of Normandy under heavy losses. After so much battle to claim more territory, Captain John Miller and his team were assigned a new mission to find and retrieve Private Ryan from the war. Private Ryan was to be sent home immediately since he was the only surviving member of the four brothers.
The Team accepted the mission immediately, prepared for action, and was on their way to bring back their man from the battlefield.
The quest to find private Ryan was full of mixed emotions, patriotism, and sacrifice, it also exposed how torn up the men were after witnessing so much killing and so much bloodshed. Moral decisions about a captured enemies who played the first-hand part in killing their comrades had to be made - I think this was one of the most realistic scenes which contradicts that all men that fought in the war were emotionless animals.
Private Ryan was found at his duty station securing a bridge and told about his brothers who were killed in action, he does the unexpected and refused to leave his position, the team for came to rescue him had no other choice than to ensure that the last brother completes his mission.
In the end, most of the team members didn't survive the advance by the germans, good men died that day and private Ryan was finally safe to go home.
My Impression About This Movie
One of the most impressive things about this movie is the fact that every scene was shot to look as realistic as possible. The Omaha beach scene was shot to perfectness, it felt as though I was a more solid racing my way to safety while other soldiers fell as bullets sizzled through them.

In fact, the electrifying 23-minute Omaha beach scene alone cost $12 million which was about 20% of the entire movie budget, and more than 1,500 extras were used in the scene. No wonder this scene has been rated as the best battle scene of all time, by Empire Magazine.
I also found it impressive how each cast and their role was developed with in-depth information. Each cast that played a role received suitable background information about his character and the role they played in the movie.
Do I Recommend This Movie
This Movie is by far one of the best war movies I have seen, and I have seen quite a lot of war movies. The realism and the personification of the cast embodied their character in the movie.
This movie is definitely a must-watch if you looking for cool war movies to spend your time on.
Saving Private Ryan won 11 Academy Awards including the Best Director and Best Cinematography in 1999, yeah it was that good, so overall I will give this movie an overall rating of 8.6/10.
