Un nuevo capitulo en el Universo de "El Conjuro", en esta oportunidad los Warren deberan enfrentar a un enemigo inesperado... "The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It"
Desde el 2013 cuando se estrenó "The Conjuring", siempre ha sido extraño como he terminado viendo cada uno de los films pertenecientes a este universo de películas de terror supernatural, me sorprende porque no soy un acérrimo fanático de este estilo de films, pero creo que la curiosidad es más fuerte que yo y siempre termino viéndola por voluntad propia o por obligación; de esta serie de films me han gustado algunas y otras no tanto, pero si debo decir cuál es la mejor de todas, sin ninguna duda que la primera no tiene comparación con ninguna de las secuelas ni spin off, es por eso que sin muchas expectativas decidí ver este último (por ahora) film basado en esta parejas de investigadores paranormales que nunca se cansan en su lucha contra el mal.
A new chapter in the "The Conjuring" universe, this time the Warrens will have to face an unexpected enemy... "The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It"
Since 2013 when "The Conjuring" was released, it has always been strange how I have ended up watching each of the films belonging to this universe of supernatural horror films, it surprises me because I am not a staunch fan of this style of films, but I think curiosity is stronger than me and I always end up watching it by my own will or by obligation; from this series of films I have liked some and others not so much, but if I must say which is the best of all, without any doubt that the first one has no comparison with any of the sequels or spin off, that's why without many expectations I decided to see this last film (for now) based on this couple of paranormal investigators who never get tired in their fight against evil.
"The Conjuring: the Devil Made Me Do It" es basada en una historia de la vida real en dónde están involucrados "Los Warren" (como en las dos anteriores), en esta oportunidad es 1981 y esta pareja debe ayudar a la familia Glatzel, específicamente a David, un niño de 8 años que ha sido molestado por un espíritu maligno, David es poseído y Ed y Lorraine junto al Padre Gordon deberán exorcizar al pequeño David para salvarlo, pero todo sale y mal y un inesperado sacrificio podrá traer salvación o tal vez más peligro no solo a los Glatzel sino a los Warren.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It" is based on a real life story where "The Warrens" are involved (as in the previous two), this time it is 1981 and this couple must help the Glatzel family, specifically David, an 8 year old boy who has been bothered by an evil spirit, David is possessed and Ed and Lorraine along with Father Gordon must exorcise little David to save him, but everything goes wrong and an unexpected sacrifice may bring salvation or perhaps more danger not only to the Glatzels but to the Warrens.
Sin ninguna duda James Wan ha dado comienzo a grandes franquicias, Saw, Insidious y por supuesto está, en todas las películas deja su marca ya que a pesar de dirigir solo las dos primeras de esta trilogía enfocada en los Warren, en los spin off y este último film las historias son de su autoría, ahora su trabajo delegando funciones de guionista y director, tal vez no han sido del todo la mejor aunque celebro que le dé oportunidad a diferentes directores y guionistas, pero para ser sincero creo que tan solo *David F. Sandberg quien dirigió Annabelle: Creation ha hecho un trabajo completo; en esta oportunidad ha elegido para dirigir este tercer film fue Michael Chaves quien justamente dirigió The Curse of La Llorona, en esta película este todavía nuevo director decide dar un enfoque directo al espectador, tal como si fuéramos parte de la escena, eso no es tanto de forma inmediata porque eso se ve más que nada a comienzo del segundo acto en adelante, creo que eso para mí hace que en este film haya una clara división, en las escenas de inicio es caos, las escenas es abierta para tener una perspectiva de todo lo que sucede, en cambio en las demás todo es más personal con respecto a los personajes, la cámara es más frontal.
El guion vino por parte de David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, quien ha trabajado en varios proyectos con Wan y escribió el guion para el film The Orphan (2009), en esta historia es claro que querían dejar atrás todo lo hecho en las anteriores entregas, querían dejar atrás las casas embrujadas y las familias afectadas, a pesar de que aquí hay una familia creo que existe una sola víctima, pero en esta historia hay algo más y es a lo que los Warren deben enfrentar, los espíritus con los que han luchado en la primera y segunda parte son poderosos rivales, existe creo que una vara alta para igualar, en esta deben hacer frente a algo que podrá ser más cercano a este plano, a algo real y eso puede ser peligroso, esto lo vi como una buena idea porque así como está pareja representa el bien, entonces la maldad también puede estar representada de otra forma a parte de espíritus malignos o demonios, esto es un punto positivo para la historia aunque creo que pudo ser mejor desarrollado, explicado algunos motivos para hacer más impactante lo que sucede en el film; el guion, la historia no es perfecta, existen fallos, pero hay cosas excelentes en cómo la evolución como detectives de esta pareja.
Without any doubt James Wan has started great franchises, Saw, Insidious and of course this, in all the films he leaves his mark because despite directing only the first two of this trilogy focused on the Warrens, in the spin off and this last film the stories are of his authorship, now his work delegating functions of writer and director, perhaps have not been entirely the best although I celebrate that he gives opportunity to different directors and screenwriters, but to be honest I think that only David F. Sandberg who directed Annabelle: Creation has done a complete job; in this opportunity he has chosen to direct this third film was Michael Chaves who just directed The Curse of La Llorona, in this film this still new director decides to give a direct approach to the viewer, as if we were part of the scene, that is not so much immediately because that is seen mostly at the beginning of the second act onwards, I think that for me that makes in this film there is a clear division, in the opening scenes is chaos, the scenes is open to have a perspective of everything that happens, instead in the other scenes everything is more personal with respect to the characters, the camera is more frontal.
The script came from David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who has worked on several projects with Wan and wrote the script for the film The Orphan (2009), in this story it is clear that they wanted to leave behind everything done in the previous installments, they wanted to leave behind the haunted houses and the affected families, even though there is a family here I think there is only one victim, but in this story there is something else and that is what the Warren's have to face, the spirits they have fought in the first and second parts are powerful rivals, I think there is a high bar to match, in this they must face something that may be closer to this plane, something real and that can be dangerous, I saw this as a good idea because as well as this couple represents the good, then evil can also be represented in another way apart from evil spirits or demons, this is a positive point for the story but I think it could be better developed, explained some reasons to make more impact on what happens in the film; the script, the story is not perfect, there are flaws, but there are excellent things in how the evolution as detectives of this couple.
Las actuaciones son buenas, no sentí que hubiera algo sobre actuado por ninguno de los actores, ni siquiera de Julian Hilliard quien hace una gran interpretación de David, también puedo decir que Ruairi O'Connor quien hace el papel de "Arne Cheyenne Johnson", su actuación es buena, creo que lo mejor es ver cómo va siendo afectado mientras va transcurriendo la historia, también el maquillaje ayuda a mostrar su deterioro, pero su actuación es buena y claro que lo mejor es Patrick Wilson y Vera Farmiga como Ed y Lorraine Warren, ya está sería la cuarta vez (contando con Annabelle Comes Home) que interpretan a estos personajes, l química entre ellos es perfecta y aunque Patrick tiene más protagonismo en esta historia, por supuesto que el personaje de Lorraine es igual de Importante como en todas las películas de esta franquicia.
The performances are good, I didn't feel there was anything over acted by any of the actors, not even from Julian Hilliard who does a great interpretation of David, I can also say that Ruairi O'Connor who plays the role of "Arne Cheyenne Johnson", his performance is good, I think the best is to see how he is being affected as the story goes on, also the make up helps to show his deterioration, but his performance is good and of course the best is Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, this would be the fourth time (counting Annabelle Comes Home) that they play these characters, the chemistry between them is perfect and although Patrick has more prominence in this story, of course Lorraine's character is just as important as in all the movies of this franchise.
Conjuring The Devil Made Me Do It es un film regular, no es el mejor ni tampoco es el peor (ese es Annabelle 3), es entretenido, pero no da miedo, si una película es de terror sobrenatural debe dar miedo y a mí no me asustó, si hay buenas escenas, pero hasta ahí y aquí viene algo extraño, está película no abusa del "Jumpscare" una marca registrada para esta franquicia y eso me agradó, pero creo que no se cumplió en otras cosas como por ejemplo asustar al espectador; me gustó las muchas referencias a clásicos como The Exorcist y The Shining creo que para lo que es esta historia, lo que se hizo en las escenas homenajeando a ambos films fue algo muy bien hecho. Es una lástima que no fuera mejor, creo que por querer realizar algo diferente a lo hecho anteriormente pudo complicar el desarrollo de la historia, no sé si lo que sucede en este film pueda crear un potencial enemigo para alguna secuela en dónde estén involucrados está pareja o algún spin off, pero creo que se puede explotar aún más está historia tal como se ha hecho con otros antagonista de esta franquicia; si son fans de este universo paranormal seguramente la disfrutarán, si no lo son entonces les aconsejo verla con la menor expectativa que tengan y tal vez pueda gustarle.
Conjuring The Devil Made Me Do It is a regular film, it's not the best nor is it the worst (that's Annabelle 3), it's entertaining, but it's not scary, if a film is a supernatural horror film it should be scary and it didn't scare me, yes there are good scenes, but up to there and here comes something strange, this film doesn't abuse the "Jumpscare" a trademark for this franchise and I liked that, but I think it didn't deliver on other things like scaring the viewer; I liked the many references to classics like The Exorcist and The Shining I think for what this story is, what was done in the scenes paying homage to both films was something very well done. It's a pity it wasn't better, I think that by wanting to do something different to what was done before it could have complicated the development of the story, I don't know if what happens in this film could create a potential enemy for a sequel where this couple is involved or a spin off, but I think this story can be exploited even more as it has been done with other antagonists of this franchise; if you are fans of this paranormal universe you will surely enjoy it, if you are not then I advise you to watch it with the least expectation you have and maybe you will like it.
