En estos últimos años, no solamente el MCU como franquicia se puede considerar como un completo éxito en recaudación monetaria, existe otra franquicia más que posiblemente si comparo tanto en costo de producción y recaudación, posiblemente sea más exitosa que esta serie de películas basadas en comics, la franquicia que les hablo es "The Conjuring Universe" que hasta los momentos cuenta con ocho películas y próximamente sean más. Este universo de films llenos de personajes y momentos terroríficos ha creado un cierto grupo de fans que están dispuestos a ver estás historias en dónde el susto está presente, pero lamentablemente la calidad de la historia y otros aspectos no tanto.

Personalmente, no soy muy entusiasta con esta franquicia de terror, ya que solo he disfrutado tres de sus films, esos son The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2 y Annabelle: Creation; los otros no los considero buenos films y eso es por la sobreexplotación del "Jump Scare"; justamente eso fue un tema que se discutió con el estreno del primer film protagonizado por este personaje y el cual fue un fracaso en la opinión de la crítica especializada y creo que con esta secuela, se tenía la oportunidad de hacer algo mejor y por eso se contó con el director Michael Chaves quien dirigió un film relacionado con este universo, me refiero a "The Curse of La Llorona" y a la tercera parte de El Conjuro, "The Devil Made Me Do It"; con respecto a su trabajo en esta producción, haré referencia a las escenas de terror en dónde hay momentos en dónde esté director tiene un correcto desempeño en los dos primeros actos del film, creo que tiene un buen comienzo que puede verse afectado por la obviedad en ese tipo de escenas, pero creo que después tiene un mejor transitar que lamentablemente se ve muy afectado por ciertas decisiones en el cierre del film, un cierre en dónde ninguna de las escenas de terror funcionan.
La historia es sumamente simple, es oportuna y posiblemente prisionera de lo que sucede en una breve escena al comienzo de The Conjuring, pero no puedo culpar a lo que seguramente era lo planeado para comenzar esta franquicia, la culpa que la historia no sea para nada buena cae en responsabilidad de Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing y Akela Cooper, los cuales al escribir el guion para este film, idearon que se debería cumplir con todos los clichés que existen en películas de terror sobrenatural, por ejemplo la existencia del ente poderoso y terrorífico, resolver el misterio del porqué de su regreso, descubrir si hay un arma que pueda derrotarlo, secuaces y posibles víctimas a enfrentar, un secreto del pasado que puede cambiar todo y por supuesto, si algo funciona, entonces es mejor repetirlo; creo que esto me creó una gran decepción de un film del cual no esperaba nada.

Seré breve con las actuaciones y eso es debido a que no hay ninguna para destacar; todos los actores son víctimas de una mala escritura de sus personajes, no existe desarrollo adecuado para la historia y es que muchos son prescindibles; posiblemente el personaje de la "Hermana Irene" Interpretado por Taissa Farmiga es quien muestre una limitada inesperada evolución a ser más independiente y fuerte de lo que fue su personaje en el primer film, pero de igual manera no hay mucho de donde desarrollar, de crear cierto impacto, se le anexa un pasado, algo que debería funcionar como un motivo, pero nada más, en realidad es algo simple, sin un peso como sé que quiso dar y es que creo que el guion le debió dar más protagonismo del que tuvo, crear el material necesario para poder enfrentar nuevamente a su poderoso rival.
