No recuerdo cuando la competencia entre producciones cinematográficas animadas fue tan igualada; posiblemente Pixar desde su superioridad nunca vio la necesidad de evolucionar en su estilo de animación, algo muy propio y reconocido en todo el mundo y justamente, eso impulsó a otros Estudios como Sony y DreamWorks, en buscar una manera no de copiar a quien domina ese género del cine, sino también en tener un estilo que en algún momento se sienta como propio; en eso DreamWorks Animation, está en la búsqueda no solo de crear una marca, sino de apoyar a los artistas a mostrar arte en sus producciones para así ser algo completo en dónde no solo la historia sea lo relevante; estás característica son las que pude apreciar en "The Wild Robot".

"The Wild Robot" está basada en la novela del mismo nombre escrita por Peter Brown y relata la historia de "ROZZUM Unit 7134" un Robot de servicio de la compañía Universal Dynamics, que cae en una isla remota a causa de una tormenta eléctrica; en ese mismo instante y por curiosidad, animales activan a dicho robot que al despertar busca a quien pueda darle el necesario motivo para así cumplir su función, el problema está en que la isla solamente está habitada por animales salvajes y eso limita a "Roz" comunicarse con ellos, esa incomunicación hará que nuestro protagonista deba lidiar con los peligros en un mundo salvaje y poco comunicativo lo cual genera un accidente que cambiará no solo su vida robótica, sino también de un bebé ganso quien lo verá como su madre y desde ese momento, Roz encontrará un motivo a cumplir en dónde no solo ayudará a crecer a su adoptado hijo, sino a todo animal que lo considera cómo un monstruo y comience a apreciarlo como un amigo.

Chris Sanders, quien tiene una notoria carrera como director y escritor en muchos films animados como por ejemplo "Lilo & Stitch", "How to Train Your Dragon" y "The Croods"; nuevamente ofrece una excelente producción cinematográfica que impacta con una gran animación que se complementa muy bien con la historia de la unión entre lo natural o salvaje y la robótica o inteligencia artificial; este film ofrece una animación que puede considerarse como la unión de estilos, la unión de la animación en 2D y 3D; esto para diferenciar a los personajes y el ambiente en dónde se desarrolla la historia, por ejemplo tanto el bosque como los animales de la isla, parecieran que estuviera hecho de acuarela, pinturas en óleo, naturales, se veían impresionantes, con mucho color, mucha luz, impresionante trabajo que era contrarrestado por el diseño del robot y de otros lugares lejos de la isla, pero de igual manera era impresionante como encajaban estos estilos a pesar de que el CGI en el robot era más notorio.
La historia tiene como base primeramente el compromiso, la necesidad de la existencia de un motivo para poder funcionar; eso lo pude captar en un principio con el comportamiento del robot que está motivado a realizar la tarea por la cual fue creado y así obtener una valoración de su desempeño; este no es un tema original porque en muchas películas se ha visto este tipo de características en personajes robóticos, lo cual también me hace pensar que el desarrollo o evolución a un comportamiento ajeno al que fue creado también se ha visto en anterioridad, pero creo que el tema de la maternidad es lo que más me ha gustado; personalmente creo que el ser padre no es para todo el mundo, debido a la responsabilidad, el compromiso, el amor, la comprensión, protección, confianza y enseñanza, son factores fundamentales para tratar de ser padre y eso es lo que va experimentando Roz en esta magnífica historia.

Cómo siempre hago, el film lo vi con el audio original y me sorprendió que buenos actores prestan su voz para dar vida a los muchos personajes que hacen apariencia en esta historia; uno de esos actores, en este caso actriz, es Lupita Nyong'o quien interpreta a "Roz", la paz de su voz y el comportamiento de su personaje, es perfecto; la paciencia para cumplir primeramente su rol como un robot de servicio y después de protectora y guía para el pequeño ganso "Brightbill" es muy bueno, la evolución de su personaje es excelente. Mi personaje favorito del film es "Fink", un zorro rojo, depredador vil, un sobreviviente que no es para nada amigable porque cree en la ley del más fuerte y que un gran porcentaje en la isla, es prácticamente comida; eso le hace ser divertido, cruel, pero también solitario, triste, sin amigos, pero con la aparición de Roz y Brightbill, él ha encontrado la familia que no esperaba tener; me sorprendió que la voz la diera Pedro Pascal quien tiene la elegancia, fuerza y el grado de comedia para dar vida a tan buen personaje.
