Ashfall... Red Alert. For some time now, Korean cinematic art has been making its way into the preference of the film-going public. In particular, I can say that I really like the horror genre and the list is really extensive. However, little by little they have ventured into other genres such as action, drama, thriller, catastrophe, mystery, suspense, adventure, among others. But something very important is that they have also been able to balance several genres to give us very entertaining films; among them, the one I present today through the lenses of Lee Hae jun and Kim Byung seo; names that may be difficult to pronounce and may be little known, but together they make an impressive duo.

For example; Lee Hae jun in charge of the direction and screenplay; and Kim Byung seo although he also participated in the script; he is a master of cinematography, and together they have achieved a film of great quality, both in its narrative, as in the spectacular visual aspect. We are talking about Ashfall or Red Alert; a film that combines the genres of action, drama, catastrophe, adventure and thriller in a very balanced way for the delight of all of us.

A film that from my point of view, catches us from the first minutes with the devastating earthquake. On the other hand; although it is true that it is a film about natural disasters; for me, this is not the central axis of the plot, but the directors take advantage of these events, to take us into how difficult human and political relationships can be; and how people have that sense of survival. It really is a film worth seeing, for everything that represents the background of this story.

With the above said; we can say that a crucial aspect in the plot is the relationship between the two main characters; that is, between Ha Jung woo who in the movie is Jo In Chang, an explosives expert who has the mission of leading a team to try to prevent the volcano from initiating its final activity. This character does so well, that we can easily identify with him. And at the other end we find Lee Byung hun who represents Lee Joon Pyeong, a North Korean double agent who has the ability to guide Jo In Chang to achieve his mission. However; this relationship will not be easy and you will notice an incredible tension, both will have to understand that the fate of the Korean peninsula is in their hands; this will be a dramatic and suspenseful relationship, which will keep you with your eyes on the screen. All this without taking away merit from the other characters, who are an important part of the plot and generate an incredible realism with an outstanding humanity.

Another central point; which adds more spice to the plot, is the theme of espionage that is mixed with the political aspect. This combined with the family drama and the sense of survival, which further heightens the tension and makes us feel that catastrophe may be an imminent end. All this, without leaving aside that you will live a time of quality entertainment, with fantastic action scenes and special effects that have nothing to envy to films of great invoice. Now, as I said before, beyond the apocalyptic theme, here we can see how human beings overcome their differences, not only to save themselves, but also to save people with whom they were at odds. We all know that North and South Korea share the Korean peninsula, but they are in constant tension.

Ashfall... Alerta Roja. Desde hace algún tiempo, el arte cinematográfico coreano ha ido calando en la preferencia del público cineasta. De forma particular; puedo decir, que de ellos me gusta mucho el género de terror y realmente la lista es muy extensa. Sin embargo; poco a poco han incursionado en otros géneros como el de acción, drama, thriller, de catástrofes, misterio, suspenso, aventura entre otros. Pero algo muy importante, es que también han podido equilibrar varios géneros para brindarnos filmes demasiado entretenidos; entre ellos, el que hoy les presento a través de los lentes de Lee Hae jun y Kim Byung seo; nombres que a lo mejor son difíciles de pronunciar y que pueden ser poco conocidos, pero que juntos hacen un duo impresionante.

Por ejemplo; Lee Hae jun encargado de la dirección y el guión; y Kim Byung seo aunque también participó en el guión; es un maestro de la cinematografía, y juntos han logrado una película de mucha calidad, tanto en su narrativa, como en lo espectacular del aspecto visual. Hablamos de Ashfall o Alerta Roja; un filme que combina los géneros de acción, el drama, el cine de catástrofe, aventura y el thriller de una manera sumamente equilibrada para el deleite de todos nosotros.

Una película que desde mi punto de vista, nos atrapa desde los primeros minutos con el devastador terremoto. Por otra parte; si bien es cierto, que es una película de desastres naturales; para mí, este no es el eje central de la trama, sino que los directores aprovechan estos eventos, para adentrarnos en lo difícil que pueden ser las relaciones humanas y políticas; y como las personas tienen ese sentido de supervivencia. Realmente es un filme digno de ver, por todo lo que representa el trasfondo de esta historia.

Con lo dicho anteriormente; podemos decir que un aspecto crucial en la trama es la relación entre los dos personajes principales; es decir, entre Ha Jung woo que en la película es Jo In Chang, un experto en explosivos que tiene la misión de liderar un equipo para tatar de evitar que el volcán inicie su actividad final. Este personaje lo hace tan bien, que fácilmente podemos identificarnos con él. y en el otro extremo encontramos a Lee Byung hun quien representa a Lee Joon pyeong, un doble agente norcoreano que tiene la capacidad de guiar a Jo In Chang para el logro de su cometido. Sin embargo; esta relación no será nada fácil y notarás una tensión increíble, ambos tendrán que entender que el destino de la península coreana está en sus manos; esta será una relación dramática y de suspenso, que te mantendrá con la vista en la pantalla. Todo esto sin quitar merito a los demás personajes, quienes son parte importante de la trama y generan un realismo increíble con una humanidad sobresaliente.

Otro punto central; que le añade más picante a la trama, es el tema del espionaje que se mezcla con el aspecto político. Esto combinado con el drama familiar y el sentido de supervivencia, que eleva aun más la tensión y nos hace sentir que la catástrofe puede ser un final inminente. Todo esto, sin dejar de lado que vivirás un tiempo de entretenimiento de calidad, con escenas de acción fantásticas y efectos especiales que no tienen nada que envidiar a películas de gran factura. Ahora; como dije antes, más allá del tema apocalíptico; aquí podemos notar como el ser humano supera sus diferencias, no solo para salvarse asimismos; sino para salvar a gente con quiénes estaban enemistados. Todos sabemos que Corea del Norte y Corea del Sur comparten la península de Corea, pero están en constante tensión.

Digo esto; porque más allá de la catástrofe, la relación entre los protagonistas es de vital importancia. Sin embargo; en la frontera entre Corea del Norte y China existe el volcán del Monte Paekdu; el mismo se encuentra en actividad ocasionando terremotos extremos por toda la península de Corea, pero eso no es todo; porque existe una amenaza que podría generar una devastación sin precedentes.

Por ello; se busca evitar esta situación buscando la intervención del Profesor Kang Bong rae (Ma Dong seok), quien propone una misión descabellada donde deben intervenir los personajes antes descritos. En fin; aquí se combinan el apocalipsis, el uso de armas nucleares y la tensión política, como motivos para la unión en la búsqueda de evitar la aniquilación. En tal sentido; si buscas una película que va más allá de lo impactante de los desastres naturales y que te haga sentir una montaña rusa de emociones; este filme es para tí, nos despedimos y nos vemos pronto con más aventuras y entretenimiento.
