¡Hola Hivers! Hoy les traigo una reseña de una película que viene arrastrando comentarios y opiniones no muy positivas, y luego de haberla visto, entiendo un poco más el por qué tan poca aceptación. La película en cuestión es Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins.

Snake Eyes es una película de acción que salió al aire en julio del 2021, dirigida por el alemán Robert Schwentke (desconocido para mí). Esta película nos adentra un poco más en los orígines de un personaje fundamental (y mi favorito) de los Joes, Snake Eyes. Vemos las dificultades que tuvo que superar por su cuenta desde muy chico y cómo se convierte en ser uno de los ninjas más habilidosos y letales de Japón, y cómo fue su inicio en las filas de los Joe.
Snake Eyes is an action movie that aired in July 2021, directed by German Robert Schwentke (unknown to me). This film takes us a little deeper into the origins of a fundamental character (and my favorite) of the Joes, Snake Eyes. We see the difficulties he had to overcome on his own from a very young age and how he became one of the most skilled and deadly ninjas in Japan, and what his start in the ranks of the Joe was like.

🗣 Opiniones/Opinions 🗣
Empezamos viendo a Snake Eyes como niño, quien vive con su padre. Luego de una serie de eventos desafortunados, este se integra a los Yakuza por el ofrecimiento del líder de la mafia de encontrar al hombre que mató a su padre para que pueda tomar venganza. Desde ahí, Snake Eyes (como es llamado en toda la película) entra en el camino para convertirse en un gerrero ninja del clan Arashikague.
We begin by seeing Snake Eyes as a child, who lives with his father. After a series of unfortunate events, he joins the Yakuza by the offer of the leader of the mafia to find the man who killed his father so that he can take revenge. From there, Snake Eyes (as he is called throughout the film) enters the path to become a ninja warrior of the Arashikague clan.

La película tiene buena acción, peleas con cuchillos, katanas, armas de fuego, puño limpio, de todo un poco. Empezamos viendo la historia en USA y terminamos en Japón, donde Snake Eyes toma las 3 pruebas para unirse al clan. La historia es interesante hasta cierto punto; y me disgustó bastante de la película dos cosas: el Snake Eyes que conocíamos de las dos primeras películas de G.I. Joe (The Raise of Cobra y Retaliation) era un niño occidental rubio que fue encontrado robando comida y adoptado por los Arashikage, entrena junto a Storm Shadow y tras el asesinato de sus maestros sus caminos se separan; y aquí Snake Eyes es un chino americano, y su crecimiento, entrenamiento y desarrollo como guerrero ninja es totalmente distinto.
The movie has good action, knife fights, katanas, firearms, a clean fist, a bit of everything. We started by looking at history in the USA and ended in Japan, where Snake Eyes takes all 3 tests to join the clan. The story is interesting up to a point; And I was quite upset about the movie for two things: The Snake Eyes we knew from the first two GI Joe movies (The Raise of Cobra and Retaliation) was a blond western boy who was found stealing food and adopted by the Arashikage, he trains alongside Storm Shadow and after the murder of their masters their paths separate; and here Snake Eyes is a Chinese American, and his growth, training and development as a ninja warrior is totally different.

La producción del film fue buena, la ambientación y música buenos también. Lo único que desentona un poco son los efectos de fuego cuando se usaba la Joya de Sol, se veía muy falso. En general la película me gustó bastante, es muy entretenida y no se hace pesada de ver. Además, incluyen personajes como La Baronesa por parte de Cobra y Scarlett de los Joe.
The production of the film was good, the atmosphere and music were good too. The only thing that is a bit out of tune is the fire effects when using the Sun Jewel, it looked very fake. In general, I liked the film a lot, it is very entertaining and it is not difficult to watch. In addition, they include characters such as The Baroness by Cobra and Scarlett by Joe.

🗣 Comentarios finales/Final comments 🗣
Si deciden ver Snake Eyes, no lo hagan con muchas expectativas porque se sentirán decepcionados, y además olvídense de lo que piensan saber sobre el personaje porque aquí le hacen borrón y cuenta nueva. Algo que destaco también de la película es la interacción entre Snake Eyes y Tommy (quien está destinado a ser el siguiente lider de los Arashikage y mas tarde se autodenomina Storm Shadow) y ver cómo se quiebra la confianza y relación que había entre ambos. Les recomiendo qye la vean, y más si son fanáticos de la saga, les va a gustar.
If you decide to see Snake Eyes, do not do it with high expectations because you will be disappointed, and also forget what you think you know about the character because here they make a clean slate. Something that also stands out from the film is the interaction between Snake Eyes and Tommy (who is destined to be the next leader of the Arashikage and later calls himself Storm Shadow) and seeing how the trust and relationship that existed between them is broken. I recommend that you see it, and more if you are fans of the saga, you will like it.

Henry Goulding como Snake Eyes estuvo bien, buena actuación. Úrsula Corberó no destacó ni desentonó como La Baronesa, ni bien ni mal. Andrew Koji como Tommy/Storm Shadow me gustó bastante, la gravedad de su voz y su actuación como ninja fue muy buena. Además, cuando estuvo molesto, se notaba que lo estaba y no se veía falso.
Henry Goulding as Snake Eyes was good, good acting. Úrsula Corberó did not stand out or clash as La Baronesa, neither good nor bad. Andrew Koji as Tommy / Storm Shadow I really liked him, the seriousness of his voice and his performance as a ninja was very good. Also, when he was upset, you could tell he was and it didn't look fake.
