Un gusto volver a saludarlos, me alegra estar por aquí de vuelta luego de unos pocos días, en esta ocasión volvemos con una reseña sobre una de las películas ha logrado dejarme con la boca abierta, ya tenía mucho tiempo que algo como esto no pasaba, digo, sí habían películas que me impresionaban pero Los Horrores de Caddo Lake fue algo completamente diferente. Como siempre les hago una breve alerta de spoilers así que si siguen leyendo y no la han visto, les recomiendo que primero vayan a verla y luego sigan leyendo esto, que conste que los advertí.

Hey, what's up people!!! Nice to greet you again, I'm glad to be back here after a few days, this time we are back with a review about one of the movies that has managed to leave me with my mouth open, I had a long time that something like this didn't happen, I mean, yes there were movies that impressed me but The Horrors of Caddo Lake was something completely different. As always I'm giving you a brief spoiler alert so if you're still reading and haven't seen it, I recommend you go see it first and then keep reading this, for the record I warned you.
Como ya es costumbre por acá vayas con lo primero y lo primero es saber de qué va esta película. Los Horrores de Caddo Lake es una película de suspenso, drama y mucho pero mucho misterio, este film nos presenta a una familia, los Bennet y los Lang, (Sí, sí, lo sé, dije una familia y nombré dos pero ya se darán cuenta) que descubre un gran misterio en el lago y cómo una serie de desapariciones comienzan a tener sentido y repercusiones en la familia.
Algo que me gustó muchísimo sobre esta película que es incluye los viajes en el tiempo, tema que me fascina muchísimo, no creerán la cara que puse cuando llegaron justo a esa parte de la película donde nos cuenta que los viajes en el tiempo existen en este film. Algo también bastante original, según lo que he visto, es que los viajes en el tiempo solo tiene lugar en el lago y por lo que pude entender no decides a qué año viajar, solamente sucede y ya (Muy parecido a la serie Dark, por cierto, también la recomiendo).
As usual around here go with the first thing and the first thing is to know what this movie is about. The Horrors of Caddo Lake is a film of suspense, drama and lots and lots of mystery, this film introduces us to a family, the Bennet and Lang, (Yes, yes, I know, I said a family and I named two but you will notice) that discovers a great mystery in the lake and how a series of disappearances begin to make sense and repercussions in the family.
Something that I really liked about this movie is that it includes time travel, a subject that fascinates me a lot, you won't believe the face I made when they got right to that part of the movie where he tells us that time travel exists in this film. Something also quite original, according to what I have seen, is that time travel only takes place in the lake and from what I could understand you do not decide what year to travel to, it just happens and that's it (Very similar to the Dark series, by the way, I also recommend it).
Poco o a poco vamos descubriendo como el lago es el propio protagonista, es lo que me gustaría pensar, ya que al parecer no todo el mundo puede encontrarse con esa parte del lago solo como se vio en la película pasa con nuestros protagonista ya que es como si el mismo lago los llamara para que todo siga su curso. En ningún momento dejan indicios sobre múltiples líneas de tiempo o algo por el estilo, o por lo menos yo no le quise dar tanta vuelta a eso, solo disfrute de la locura narrativa que estaba viendo y vaya que lo hice.
La forma en la que abordaron todo este aspecto fue un concepto que me gustó mucho, la verdad, eso de que solo son posibles los viajes cuando es tiempo de sequía en el lago y de que quizás, solo quizás, no todo el mundo sea capaz de hacerlo fue algo que desarrollaron y fueron mostrando con bastante ingenio. Aunque en lo personal no soy muy fan de los lagos y de cualquier lugar con aguas profundas o poco profundas, debo admitir que esta perspectiva me sorprendió lo suficiente como para no detestar la película por ser en su mayoría alrededor del lago, ya que como siempre no vi el tráiler.
Little by little we discover how the lake is the protagonist himself, that's what I would like to think, since apparently not everyone can meet that part of the lake alone as seen in the film happens with our protagonists as it is as if the lake itself calls them so that everything takes its course. At no point do they leave hints about multiple timelines or anything like that, or at least I didn't want to put that much spin on it, I just enjoyed the crazy narrative I was watching and boy did I ever.
The way they approached this whole aspect was a concept that I really liked, the truth, that travel is only possible when it's dry weather on the lake and that maybe, just maybe, not everyone is able to do it was something they developed and were showing quite cleverly. Although personally I'm not a big fan of lakes and any place with deep or shallow water, I must admit that this perspective surprised me enough to not hate the movie for being mostly around the lake, since as usual I didn't see the trailer.
Los actores por su parte hacen un excelente trabajo, debo admitir que unos de los motivos por los cuales decidí ver la película es que la protagoniza Dylan O’brien, unos de mis actores favoritos, pero tampoco Eliza Scanlen se queda detrás, ambos actores entienden muy bien su trabajo y transmiten cada uno de las emociones que los personajes deberían de sentir a medida que van descubriendo ese oscuro misterio en el algo.
La película, debo admitir, al principio avanza un poco lento, se toma su tiempo introduciendo a los personajes y en el caso de Paris (Dylan O’brien) y Ellie (Eliza Scanlen) dándonos a entender por qué están en el estado en el que están, cada uno afectado por un evento que marcó sus vidas. Pero, ya casi llegando a la mitad la película es una montaña rusa que va en bajada hasta la última escena, es como si toda la primera mitad funcionara de preparación para todo lo que se vendría a continuación.
The actors do an excellent job, I must admit that one of the reasons why I decided to see the film is that it stars Dylan O'brien, one of my favorite actors, but neither Eliza Scanlen is behind, both actors understand their job very well and convey each of the emotions that the characters should feel as they discover the dark mystery in the something.
The film, I must admit, moves a little slowly at first, taking its time introducing the characters and in the case of Paris (Dylan O'Brien) and Ellie (Eliza Scanlen) giving us to understand why they are in the state they are in, each affected by an event that marked their lives. But, almost halfway through the film is a roller coaster ride that goes downhill until the last scene, it is as if the entire first half worked as a preparation for everything that would follow.
La verdad es que los directores, Celine Held y Logan George, sí, son socios que por lo que estuve investigando solo hacen películas juntos, logran captar, dirigir y transmitir cada aspecto de la historia que quisieron contar. Esa sensación de que el lago sea como una especie de entidad que está ahí y que solo algunos encuentran o cuyas vidas están enteramente ligadas a la existencias de los viajes en el lago es simplemente increíble, y digo esto porque en ciertos momentos lo llegué a pensar.
Sin duda, esta historia es algo al estilo Dark, solo la vi una vez y si no fuera por falta de tiempo entre otras actividades que requieren más atención, la volvería a ver por puro gusto y para prestar más atención a todo lo que ocurre ya que cada detalle es importante.
The truth is that the directors, Celine Held and Logan George, yes, they are partners who from what I was researching only make films together, manage to capture, direct and convey every aspect of the story they wanted to tell. That sense of the lake being like some sort of entity that is there that only some people encounter or whose lives are entirely tied to the existence of travel on the lake is just incredible, and I say that because at certain points I came to think about it.
Without a doubt, this story is something in the Dark style, I only saw it once and if it were not for lack of time between other activities that require more attention, I would watch it again for pure pleasure and to pay more attention to everything that happens since every detail is important.
¿Recomendada? Claro que sí, vayan a verla, es una gran película que, aunque no sea perfecta por ciertos fallitos en cuanto al ritmo en la primero mitad, vale mucho la pena ver. Llena de suspenso, drama y misterio nos deja de las mejores películas que he visto en estos últimos años y que sin duda se ganó un lugar entre las películas que más me han asombrado. Pero esa es mi opinión, quizás tú tengas una opinión diferente y me gustaría mucho escucharla, déjala en la parte de abajo y así podremos intercambiar ideas al respecto. Recommended? Of course it is, go see it, it's a great movie that, although it's not perfect due to certain flaws in the rhythm in the first half, it's worth seeing. Full of suspense, drama and mystery it leaves us with one of the best movies I've seen in recent years and it certainly earned a place among the movies that have amazed me the most.
