Finally I sat down to watch "Deadpool & Wolverine" The experience is not bad but not the greatest neither, Deadpool movies have never had that "hero" effect like Avengers movies, its more of an action comedy but there were a few things that bother me that I would like to put out first, the absurd amount of cameo and insinuations, it was more of a trash talking movie, how the killed Nova on the spot. I had great expectations that it could lift up the MCU but I left feeling somewhat indifferent, this movie may not be flawed at all on its own way, it is a good action comedy movie; however it simply does not meet my expectations for innovation and restart the this hole here theme movie franchise that is the MCU.

The movie starts with Wade Wilson appears feeling quite low as our charming and sarcastic main character, he recently separated from Vanessa and now holds a low paying job selling cars while he shares a home with Blind Al once more. It seems he has stepped back ten steps from the state we left him in Deadpool 2, but then after a few scenes BAM!! He gets swept into a multiverse expedition by the Time Variance Authority, aka TVA. His universe faces issues after Wolverine died, he had no clue of this and now he decides to step up to rescue it, although that was not the reason he was brought in to the TVA. Since he is Wade after all he believes that searching for another universe's Wolverine is the ideal way to tackle this issue, after all he wants to matter, he wants to be a hero but also fail at it because he is selfish AF!!.
At this stage of the story things grow rather complicated, the story is mostly about two friends on a journey together while being mixed up with multiverse antics and TVA games. In the film is Mr. Paradox played by Matthew Macfadyen as a TVA agent with his own agenda and Emma Corrin who plays the role of Cassandra Nova, cast out so early in life that her Twin, Charles Xavier didn't even know she exist, she was thrown out in this void to rule with an iron fist, basically anyone the TVA didn't like was thrown into this void, this void really felt awkward like it had no direction, like a ghost ship in the middle of the sea, a part of the movie that is full of gags and guest characters.
You can find lots of cameos in this movie, it acts as a homage to every Marvel movie made over the last three decades but mostly for characters that were probably forgotten or even the first well known heroes, I'm sure most people who started to watch Avengers only movies didn't even know Blade existed, lets not talk about Elektra, it also covers X-Men and the Fantastic Four along with others. If you've seen every Marvel film and are well inform in the gossip department you will appreciate this; casual viewers might feel confused. The cameo by Chris Evans as Johnny Storm is impressive in a sense that nobody expect to see him but also confuse things when you attempt to understand the multiverse's characters.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are truly the main attractions and I know this post is already turning to be a pessimistic one but I just can't avoid it, this is Oppenheimer allover again, I was expecting a movie to be about something and turn out to be totally different, I was expecting the movie to be about this two super heroes to go back in time and change events for the rest of the MCU meaning I was expecting them to go into the other timelines but instead we got this eternal ongoing fight between the basically two immortals or as Wolverine said "It's one of God's best jokes you can't die..." all their fight scenes were pointless and not impressive, impressive was watching Captain America fight Thanos and picking up Thor Hammer.
In a more positive note it is true that you could tell their electrifying chemistry reveals how much fun they had while shooting this movie, in the character of Deadpool, Reynolds excels through his humor and regular interactions with the audience, looking directly at the camera and telling one of his jokes. Jackman takes the character of Wolverine as if no time had passed and their differing styles of humor clash, this was one of the best aspects of the movie, as a comedy it was great, during the movie their characters really take the time to simply staring and reviewing how bad their lives are while making fun of each other and telling jokes to hurt each other.
Secondary characters like Blade, Elektra, Gambit and others were suppose to make the movie full of known faces and probably amuse the audience, type like Avengers End Game so when ever you watch there was a super hero, this time around a rejected super hero, well it didn't felt that way and there was nothing amazing about this other characters.
While performing their villain roles well enough, Aaron Stanford and Emma Corrin struggle with being very flat but I don't thing it was a problem to do with the actor but with the script, it was a bit upset we did not get to see more of Pyro and Cassandra Nova with her now been basically gone on their first appearance, also lets consider that this movie multiple times mention the Multiverse thing was not working for Marvel and will probably take a different approach, may be part of it is why now RDJ is going to do Dr. Doom, like almost saying forget about what had happen, we changing things around just because.... so Nova might not return ever. I would not mind if they don't bring back Mr. Paradox because imo he is not that much important and never felt like a real villain just a spoil childish TVA employee.

Special effects during fight scenes throws me off because on those very long ones like the first one between the TVA agents and Deadpool it feels very over extended, its like when millions of Mr Smith try to attack Neo and he had to get out flying because it would never end, then the same thing happen when Deadpool and Wolverine were fighting all the other Deadpool alternates, I was like ok how are they going to end this fight? lets have Peter safe the day and the fight stops, I was like what the fuck?!
I really can not understand how most websites are saying this is a 9/10, even if we put this movie on its own bracket of a comedy type movie it was not that fun that I could not stop laughing at it, I'm glad I did not watch this at the theater because if there is one thing annoying me is when you go to watch a movie and people start laughing because others are but it all fells force, this is the picture that came to my head after I watch the movie. As a comedy it did a good job, a 7/10, don't get me wrong a solid 7 because it was fun and made me laugh a few times.
The movie was not emotional at all, they try hard to make it feel emotional with the situation between Vanessa and Deadpool, Vanessa gorgeous as always, that women is fire. But it never felt that way, probably because of the jokes that always interrupt the moment, on the other Deadpool movies it probably had more effect because it was something new to the table. The movie even tries to generate a similar effect with Wolverine of how bad he felt after he fail the X-Men on his universe, showing how he was always trying to get drunk and try to forget things, and the moment it was taking some force when Nova was trying to manipulate him, they break the scene.
Things become quite chaotic towards the ending with the Time Ripper is being manipulated by Cassandra Nova to eliminate each division of the multiverse and claim the Void as her domain. To prevent her from destroying everything they must collaborate and redirect the machine's energy of matter and anti matter, this is when both Deadpool and Wolverine decide to challenge each other as a joke, for the heroic act of sacrifice since they can heal quickly, in the end they both endure the explosion and escape unharmed, I'm ok with that but feel that if Wolverine had die it would have more impact to the movie.
The conclusion creates an opportunity for additional multiverse events to happen later, even though they claim many times that the Multiverse theme didn't work for the MCU, contrary to expectations of its destruction the Fox X-Men universe continues to exist, since Wolverine exists, this implies that we might find more of their characters in the future on MCU movies, it keeps all of its choices available for the future.
