Parece que el mundo de la araña que pica y vuelve superhéroes a los Peters Pakers del multiverso es rentable para los bolsillos de Sony & Marvel, una alianza que al parecer ha dado frutos tras la masiva explotación de Spider-Man desde la aparición, al menos según lo que se, de aquel Tobey Maguire con el poder de las telarañas. Muchas películas y desacuerdos después, y la disonancia entre una secuela y una renovación, la cosa del multiverso se ha trasladado a la animación. ¡Nada mal! Al menos por ahora.
En esta ocasión ya no es Peter: es Miles Morales, aunque Peter todavía sigue coexistiendo junto a millones de Peters de dimensiones diferentes. “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” es como una alucinación sin drogas; la segunda de Morales y la primera en la que el destino y el tiempo son auténticas telarañas; no puedes escapar una vez que estés atrapado entre estas… al menos que tengas aquella emblemática espada que ayudó a Frodo contra la araña monstruosa en el Señor de los Anillos, ¡valga la comparación!

Encouraging me to see this movie was difficult; my younger brother convinced me. I had neither good nor bad expectations, I was more of a neutral expectant. The real reason for multiverses is not a paradox, as everything is the result of the logic of cancellation. That's where three spidermen derived from: Toby's, Andrew's, and this little guy who is (or was, XD) Zendaya's partner. Simple. Very simple. Of course, nothing was impossible since The Avengers popularized the science of time and spells. Join all the Spider-Mans that appeared in comics and build a paradox in space-time? Of course! A little Fanservice and fame hit the moon.
In concrete terms "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" has clever winks. After a first installment that won Oscar and geeky and not-so-geeky hearts, Sony & Marvel upped the ante. A rampant history of universes tied together to give prominence to "Spider-Mans" who never got to star in a movie, or died in other movies (comment "Sad" if you saw the Gwen Stacy thing with Garfield's Spider-Man, XD). I never knew about the existence of a comic book with Mile Morales, but there he was, just like all the others, waiting for someone to bring them together in a single franchise.
The result? Ingenious, perhaps better than that human Spider-Mans reunion that left much to be desired, or at least for me.
Animarme a ver esta película fue difícil; mi hermano menor me convenció. No tenía yo ni expectativas buenas o malas, era más un expectante neutral. La verdadera razón de los multiversos no es una paradoja, pues todo es el resultado de la lógica de la cancelación. De ahí derivaron tres hombres arañas: el de Toby, el de Andrew y el del chiquillo este que es (o era, XD) pareja de Zendaya. Simple. Muy simple. Claro que desde que en Los Vengadores se popularizó la ciencia del tiempo y los hechizos, nada fue imposible. ¿Unir a todos los Spider-Mans que salieron en comics y construir una paradoja en el espacio-tiempo? ¡Claro que sí! Un poco de Fanservice y la fama llegó a la luna.
En términos concretos “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” tiene guiños inteligentes. Después de una primera entrega que ganó el Oscar y los corazones frikis y no tan frikis, Sony & Marvel elevaron la apuesta. Una desenfrenada historia de universos se ligaron para darle protagonismo a los “Spider-Mans” que nunca llegaron protagonizar una película, o murieron en otras de ellas (comenta “Sad” si viste lo de Gwen Stacy con el Spider-Man de Garfield, XD). Nunca supe sobre la existencia de un comic con Mile Morales, pero ahí estaba, al igual que todos los otros, esperando que alguien los uniera en una sola franquicia.
¿El resultado? Ingenioso, quizás mejor que aquel reencuentro humano entre Spider-Mans que dejó mucho que desear, o al menos para mí.

The plot

Mile Morales ha superado una gran pérdida, ha conocido amigos arañas de otros universos y ha vencido a un villano terrible. Lo único que obtuvo a cambio fue un amor imposible de olvidar y unos poderes extraordinarios. No todo es bueno: la tragedia asecha y Miles, a sabiendas de que tiene todas las de perder, debe desafiar el orden del tiempo y el destino para sobrevivir al dolor que alguna vez le arrebató a su ser más querido. Esta vez la alianza se transforma en barrera; ¿podrá Miles enfrentarse a los que alguna vez admiró? Cruzando el “Spider-Verse” entenderá muchas cosas… incluyendo las que dieron origen a su rol como Spider-Man.
¿Y es aburrida? No para los amantes del buen cine animado, y digo “buen cine animado” porque más allá del argumento la lógica tras la historia de Miles Morales me recuerda a Dark, la serie de Netflix. “Todo está conectado”. Es increíble cómo los guionistas lograron darle sentido a lo que parecía hecho al azar. Incluso los detalles minúsculos, y los personajes incompetentes, logran tomar el primer ángulo de la cámara. It's like watching a living comic: colors and that constant flash of motion. It is not a static film: I have fallen in love with the smallest details, like the peculiar cyberpunk tone in some scenes. It seems that each Spider-Man has a different animation style; I also saw this in the first movie, and I think it was the big turning point for other types of animation, like Disney's for example. Among the directors I could recognize Joaquim Dos Santos, the man who gave life to one of my favorite childhood cartoons: “Avatar: The Last Airbender”. Good job Joachim! I hope you see this post sometime in your life, XD.
La Animación
Es como ver un comic viviente: colores y ese constante destello en movimiento. No es una película estática: me he enamorado de los detalles más pequeños, como el peculiar tono ciberpunk en algunas escenas. Parece que cada Spider-Man tiene un estilo de animación diferente; esto también lo vi en la primera película, y creo que fue el gran punto de inflexión para otros tipos de animación, como por ejemplo, la de Disney. Dentro de los directores pude reconocer a Joaquim Dos Santos, hombre que le dio vida a una de mis caricaturas favoritas de la infancia: “Avatar: la leyenda de Aang”. ¡Buen trabajo Joaquim! Disney is falling behind. I think the fragmentation of the little mouse has helped show that it doesn't have the full throne in the realm of animated movies. Mile Morales and his Spider-Man are a good example of this; in this second film, the levels increased. The movie makes its intention clear: to take you on an “otherworldly” adventure.
“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is like the web that grows on the flower buds: your eyes are perplexed to see such beauty. I'm not saying this as the Spider-Man fan that I am, but more as a neutral viewer. Should you go see her? The real question is: what are you waiting for to do it?
