I really like stories of mystery, intrigue, and betrayal, anything related to the psychological thriller genre, and that's what you'd expect to see in a spy film, but Eye in the Sky, or ojos en el cielo as it is titled in Spanish, gives you that and more. I was surprised to see new things that I had no idea existed, such as technological devices used in espionage. It may just be fiction, but the fact is that I would never have imagined that such things could exist.
Our protagonist is a military woman, Colonel Katherine, and the film begins by showing her home and reviewing part of her work on her laptop, played by Dame Helen Mirren, a renowned actress who has already accustomed us to similar roles. This colonel has been in charge of a secret operation for five years that involves using drones in enemy territory and manipulating weapons to capture or kill terrorists in Kenya.
In order to identify these terrorists, they use real-time satellite images captured by artificial animals, made of pure technology, which are exact replicas of small birds and insects, and through them they receive images and video, since the shoe-type phones used by secret agent 007 in the 1600s are nothing new. 🤣.

Las historias de misterios, intrigas y traición me gustan mucho, todo lo relacionado con el género de estrés psicológico y eso es lo que uno esperaría ver en una película de espías, pero Eye in the Sky u ojos en el cielo, o espías desde el cielo, cómo es su título en español da eso y más, me sorprendió ver cosas nuevas que no tenía idea de su existencia como aparatos tecnológicos que usan en el espionaje y puede que solo sea ficción, pero el hecho es que nunca hubiera imaginado que pudieran existir.Nuestra protagonista es una mujer militar la coronel Katherine y la película comienza mostrando la casa de ella y revisando en su laptop parte de su trabajo, interpretada por Dame Helen Mirren, una reconocida actriz que ya nos tiene acostumbrados con papeles similares. Esta coronel lleva cinco años al mando de una operación secreta que se basa en usar drones en territorio enemigo y manipular armas para atrapar o asesinar a unos terroristas en Kenia.
Para poder identificar estos terroristas usan imágenes satelitales en tiempo real que han sido captadas por unos animales artificiales, hechos de pura tecnología siendo réplicas exacta de pequeños pájaros e insectos y a través de ellos reciben imágenes y video, ya los zapatos tipo teléfonos que usó el agente secreto 007 de los años 1600 no son novedad. 🤣.
The plot of the film gains momentum when the eyes in the sky, the name of the spy operation, realise that they have three of the most wanted terrorists in their sights and could take them all out at the same time, but carrying out this operation is not so easy, as there are political and diplomatic implications. In order for the colonel to give the order to execute the operation, they must first assess the collateral damage of the missile, which will be sent by a drone. This means knowing how large the area of destruction will be and how many innocent lives will be lost in the attack. Depending on the percentage and assessment of all the risks, her superiors will make the decision and communicate it to the colonel.
Much of the film was devoted to analysing these decisions, first whether the terrorists were wanted dead or alive, and whether permission had been obtained from the country where they were located. All the psychological stress was due to the fact that, while the terrorists were preparing with their bomb vests to cause destruction, the spies were deciding whether to kill them at that moment or miss the opportunity. Their doubts arose because of the presence of a girl selling bread right in front of the house that was to be bombed. No one wanted to kill the girl, except the colonel, because she was eager to finish the mission she had been working on for six years. She did not want to miss the opportunity, and her argument was that she would rather have a girl die than have the terrorists escape and kill 180 people in any attack.
It was very interesting to see how these kinds of decisions are made, evaluating every detail and justifying their actions in both the political and social landscape. Deep down, I felt that the production sought to justify military actions. This film has a lot of suspense, raises difficult decisions about the value of life, and among my favourite parts are its espionage devices.

El argumento de la película cobra fuerza cuando los ojos en el cielo, nombre de la operación espía, se dan cuenta de que tienen en la mira a tres de los terroristas más buscados, pudiendo terminar con los tres en el mismo momento, pero realizar esta operación no es tan fácil, ya que existen implicaciones políticas y diplomáticas. Para que la coronel pueda dar la orden de ejecutar la operación, primero deben evaluar los daños colaterales del misil, que será enviado por un dron, esto quiere decir saber cuanto es el área de destrucción y las vidas inocentes que se perderán en el ataque y dependiendo del porcentaje y evaluación de todos los riesgos sus superiores tomarán la decisión y se la comunicarán a la coronel.Una gran parte de la película fue someter a análisis estas decisiones, primero si se quieren los terroristas vivos o muertos, y si se contaba con el permiso del país donde se encontraban. Todo el estrés psicológico se debió a que mientras los terroristas se preparaban con sus chalecos bombas para causar destrucción los espías decidían si acabar con ellos en ese momento o perder la oportunidad, sus dudas nacían por la presencia de una niña que vendía pan justo en el frente de la casa que sería bombardeada, nadie quería matar a la niña a excepción de la coronel 🤣 porque ella estaba ansiosa de terminar la misión que llevaba desarrollando 6 años, no quería perder la oportunidad y su argumento era que prefería que muriera una niña que los terroristas escaparan y mataran 180 personas en cualquier ataque.
Fue muy interesante ver cómo se toman este tipo de decisiones, evaluando cada detalle, y justificando sus acciones tanto en el panorama político como social, en el fondo sentí que la producción buscó justificar las acciones militares. Esta película tiene mucho suspenso, plantea decisiones difíciles sobre el valor de la vida y entre mis partes favoritas están sus dispositivos de espionaje.
