Last weekend I watched the movie Red Dot on Netflix. As I finished watching 20 episodes of the Icelandic series named Trapped, I suddenly got a chance to discover new gems on Netflix, and this was my second choice after watching I Care A Lot. I didn't know much about Red Dot, but I had read a review on Hive which was fairly positive!
Red Dot is a Swedish movie, and it tells a story of a married couple who seems to be doing just fine. The story then jumps 1 1/2 year forward in time, and the same couple is arguing and struggling. They decide to go on a mountain trip to spend time with one another, and things seem to head in the right direction.
Of course, they are quite strange people, and the lady (who wants to be a doctor) seems to be a bit aggressive as she takes revenge on someone she believes to have harassed their car calling her a nigger. But, as she starts walking with her husband, everything seems to be okay! That is until they pitch up their tent and a red dot starts showing up (a laser dot).
Who is the person aiming at them? Why are they doing so? This is a thriller and a quite good one!
Impossible to know what is going on...
Throughout the story, you always sit with a feeling that this has got to be about something that we don't know about. In other words, you always feel that something isn't right, some pieces are missing from the giant puzzle. Of course, the pieces fall into place by the end of the movie, but it is hard to understand while actually watching it.
The movie isn't especially brutal, but if you are faint of heart, then it isn't for you either.
What do I really think of the movie?
It was kind of refreshing to watch Red Dot on Netflix. Thinking back at the movie, I didn't really like it, but it was still interesting to watch it while sitting in front of the TV. In other words, it was fine, it was okay, but I would need to get quite a lot of money to ever watch it again.
I like the way Netflix I bringing more and more movies from outside the USA, bringing diversity and a wider selection of brands. As a result, I enjoyed this as well.
My Red Dot score: 5.5/10
