Time can often be a cruel enemy, sometimes opportunities escape us, and we can't help it, but what if we could travel in time? Would that have any negative or positive effect with the present that I am living now? These are the unknowns that come to us from these feature films that speak to us of timelessness; usually exposed as the antagonist or simply a deceitful tool that makes us its slave for the power it offers us.
The scenarios become diverse; we find many possibilities and resolutions at our fingertips, but most of them are tricky, or transport us to realities to which we fear being trapped. These movies teach us that we cannot have time as an enemy or as a tool, because they teach us that we must be careful what we want. I present to you my top favorite movies about time and its settings.

El tiempo muchas veces puede ser un enemigo cruel, a veces las oportunidades se nos escapan y no podemos remediarlo, pero ¿qué pasaría si pudiéramos viajar en el tiempo? ¿Tendría eso algún efecto negativo o positivo con el presente que estoy viviendo ahora? Estas son las incógnitas que nos llegan de estos largometrajes que nos hablan de la atemporalidad; usualmente expuesto como el antagonista o simplemente una herramienta engañosa que nos hace su esclavo por el poder que nos ofrece.
Los escenarios se vuelven diversos; encontramos muchas posibilidades y resoluciones al alcance de nuestras manos, pero la mayoría de ellas son tramposas, o nos transportan a realidades a las cuales tememos quedar atrapados. Estas películas nos enseñan que no podemos tener al tiempo como enemigo o como una herramienta, pues nos enseñan que debemos tener cuidado con lo que queremos. Les presento mi top de películas favoritas sobre el tiempo y sus escenarios.
1.- Lola Rennt
This is a movie that I loved a long time ago and still love, in fact, I remember it very well as an icon of the thriller genre. This is the perfect example that time can be a merciless enemy, and that we only have a few opportunities to achieve the goal we want.
This German feature film was written and directed by Tom Tykwer, who also helped make the music. As protagonists, we have Franka Potente and Moritz Bleibtreu, along with Herbert Knaup, Nina Petri, Joachim Król and Armin Rohde in the cast.
The film tells us about a couple of boyfriends who must resolve a life or death situation. Lola only has 20 minutes to save the love of her life: Manni, and she will face multiple scenarios until she succeeds. The premise is totally captivating, the music, the setting, and the plot. Also, that way of playing with time and showing us different situations as if it were one story after another. If you haven't seen it yet, I totally recommend it, it's my favorite of this top.
1.- Corre, Lola, Corre
Esta es una película que me encantó hace mucho tiempo y que me sigue encantando, de hecho, la recuerdo muy bien como un ícono del género thriller. Este es el ejemplo perfecto de que el tiempo puede ser un enemigo despiadado, y que solo tenemos unas cuantas oportunidades para lograr el objetivo que queremos.
Este largometraje alemán fue escrito y dirigido por Tom Tykwer, quien también ayudó en la realización de la música. Como protagonistas tenemos a Franka Potente y Moritz Bleibtreu, junto a Herbert Knaup, Nina Petri, Joachim Król y Armin Rohde en el reparto.
La película nos habla de un par de novios que deben de resolver una situación de vida o muerte. Lola solo tiene 20 minutos para salvar al amor de su vida: Manni, y se enfrentará a múltiples escenarios hasta conseguirlo. La premisa es totalmente cautivadora, la música, la ambientación y la trama. También esa manera de jugar con el tiempo y el de mostrarnos diferentes situaciones como si fuese una historia tras otra. Si aún no la has visto, te la recomiendo completamente, es la que más me gusta de este top.
2.- The Butterfly Effect
The following one has a strange but spectacular plot. I am a flatterer of those stories where the extraordinary is always present in the entire atmosphere. Directed by Eric Bress and J. Mackye Gruber, this film does explain to us, in a disturbing way, the consequences of altering time.
With strong performances like Ashton Kutcher, Amy Smart and Kevin Schmidt, we have a story that warns us that despite having time as a utility in our hands, we can't harness that power like we want. The plot was developed by the same directors and I think it is one of the best scripts.
Here we will find a young man who tries to overcome the traumas of his past, and by delving into his memories, he discovers that he can travel through time. The protagonist uses this power to try to resolve his childhood traumas, but discovers that the effects of the past have bad consequences in the future.
Based on a famous theory, the story of this film is a masterpiece of timelessness, letting us see, in an entertaining way, what happens when you play with the wrong things.
2.- El Efecto Mariposa
La siguiente posee una trama extraña, pero espectacular. Soy adulador de esas historias donde lo extraordinario siempre está presente en toda la atmosfera. Dirigida por Eric Bress y J. Mackye Gruber, esta película sí que nos explica, de una manera perturbadora, las consecuencias de alterar el tiempo.
Con buenas actuaciones como la de Ashton Kutcher, Amy Smart y Kevin Schmidt, tenemos una historia que nos advierte que, a pesar de tener al tiempo como una utilidad en nuestras manos, no podemos dominar ese poder como queremos. La trama fue desarrollada por los mismos directores y pienso que es uno de los mejores guiones.
Aquí encontraremos a un joven que intenta superar los traumas de su pasado, y al incursionar en sus recuerdos, descubre que puede viajar por el tiempo. El protagonista utiliza este poder para intentar resolver sus traumas de la infancia, pero descubre que los efectos del pasado, repercuten en malas consecuencias en el futuro.
Basándose en una famosa teoría, la historia de esta película es una obra maestra sobre la atemporalidad, dejándonos ver, de manera entretenida, lo que ocurre cuando se juega con lo que no se debe.
3.- Mr. Nobody
Have you ever thought about the lives you could have had? When you reach the peak of your life, do you think that question can be intensified more? The plot of this Belgian film directed and written by Jaco Van Dormael makes us reflect intensively.
Perhaps we are just the thought of a child who has not yet made a decision... Under this premise, the film not only tells us about time, but also about the different realities that can exist and that we can live. It is the year 2092, Nemo (known as Mr. Nobody) is the only mortal human on Earth, since people in the world became immortal thanks to different scientific advances. On his deathbed, Mr. Nobody remembers all the lives and loves he may have had.
It's quite an interesting movie and a bit heavy for some people, but it's loaded with thought-provoking philosophies and stories. Dormael, stands out for creating this type of story; very complex and with large doses of fantasy.
3.- Mr. Nobody
¿Alguna vez has pensado en las vidas que pudiste haber tenido? Cuando llegues a la cúspide de tu vida, ¿piensas que esa pregunta se puede intensificar más? La trama de esta película belga dirigida y escrita por Jaco Van Dormael, nos hace reflexionar de manera intensiva.
Quizás seamos solo el pensamiento de un niño que aún no ha tomado una decisión… Bajo esta premisa, la película no solo nos habla del tiempo, sino de las diferentes realidades que pueden existir y que podemos vivir. Es el año 2092, Nemo (conocido como Mr. Nobody) es el único humano mortal sobre la Tierra, ya que las personas en el mundo se hicieron inmortales gracias a diferentes avances científicos. En su lecho de muerte, Mr. Nobody recuerda todas las vidas y amores que pudo haber tenido.
Es una película bastante interesante y algo pesada para algunas personas, pero está cargada con filosofías e historias que invitan al pensamiento. Dormael, se destaca por crear este tipo de historias; muy complejas y con grandes dosis de fantasía.
4.- Interstellar
I'm not a big fan of such long movies; What's more, they seem so tedious to me that after the second hour I can lose interest, but this work by Nolan, based on the work of Kip Thorne, didn't seem entirely heavy to me and every detail and scene makes you not lose interest. It is one of those films that strangely forces you to appreciate it without much effort involved.
The story tells us about a dystopian future where a group of astronauts venture into the universe to find a new home for humanity, but they unexpectedly fall into a wormhole near the planet Saturn, which will lead them to experience different surprises.
In this story, we can see how time is used exponentially as a prison of what has been lived. I like these science fiction stories where theories that have not yet been scientifically proven are used. We still don't know what can happen if we enter a wormhole, but Nolan explains it to us in dramatic fashion in his fiction.
With an excellent cast consisting of Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, David Gyasi and Jessica Chastain, and excellent cinematography and a well-crafted script, Interstellar is considered one of the greatest works of science fiction of our time.
4.- Interestelar
No soy muy amante de las películas tan largas; es más, me parecen tan tediosas que a la segunda hora puedo perderles interés, pero esta obra de Nolan, basándose en el trabajo de Kip Thorne, no me pareció del todo pesada y cada detalle y escena hacen que no pierdas el interés. Es de esas películas que extrañamente te obligan apreciarla sin mucho esfuerzo de por medio.
La historia nos habla de un futuro distópico donde un grupo de astronautas se aventuran en el universo para encontrar un nuevo hogar para la humanidad, pero inesperadamente caen en un agujero de gusano cerca del planeta Saturno, que los llevará a vivir diferentes sorpresas.
En esta historia, podemos ver como el tiempo emplea de manera exponencial como una cárcel de lo vivido. Me gustan estas historias de ciencia ficción donde se usan teorías aún no comprobadas científicamente. Todavía no sabemos lo que puede ocurrir si entramos a un agujero de gusano, pero Nolan nos lo explica de manera dramática en su ficción.
Con un reparto excelente constituido por Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, David Gyasi y Jessica Chastain, y una excelente fotografía y un guion bien trabajado, Interstellar es considerada una de las mayores obras de ciencia ficción de nuestro tiempo.
Conclusions
We have always been told that time is linear, but there are also theories that this magnitude can be cyclical; Like traveling in a circle. Time cannot survive without space, and it needs cause and effect to survive. In these films, we can appreciate that we are agents that feed this magnitude, or prisoners forced to be observers of the circumstances. I liked these films not only because of their interesting scripts and good plots, but also because they invited me to think and stimulate my creativity thinking about new unknowns and theories.

Conclusiones
Siempre nos han dicho que el tiempo es lineal, pero también existen teorías de que esta magnitud puede ser cíclica; como viajando en un círculo. El tiempo no puede sobrevivir sin el espacio, y necesita de la causa y efecto para subsistir. En estas películas podemos apreciar que somos agentes que alimentan esta magnitud, o prisioneros obligados a ser observadores de las circunstancias. Estas películas no solo me gustaron por sus guiones interesantes y buenas tramas, sino porque también me invitaron a pensar y estimular mi creatividad pensando en nuevas incógnitas y teorías.
