I can remember that I first met and began to love the horror genre with the films Jaws (1975) and Jaws 2 (1978) back in the 1980s when I saw them as a child. That visceral and real fear lurking in the sea, and that inevitably the music remained engraved in the face of that imminent danger of the shark. And it was something possible, and that's the fear, the factor that it's possible.
The FINAL DESTINATION saga is another type of horror that has captivated me, since we can't really see the threat; it's an abstract entity, it's simply DEATH; It is the fear of the inevitable, of dying in a ridiculous or senseless way due to situations in our daily lives that we cannot control, and that feasibility is the Terror that FINAL DESTINATION shows us in each of its installments, and I have loved them although I confess that I have some that are more preferred than others.
Puedo recordar que conocí y comencé a amar el género de Terror con las películas de Tiburón (1975) y Tiburón 2 (1978) por allá en los años 80´s cuando las vi de niña, ese miedo tan visceral y real que acechaba en el mar, y que inevitablemente quedó grabada la música ante ese peligro inminente del escualo. Y se trataba de algo posible y he ahí el miedo, el factor de que es posible.
La saga de DESTINO FINAL, es otro tipo de Terror que me ha atrapado, ya que la amenaza no la podemos ver realmente, es una entidad abstracta, es simplemente la MUERTE; es el miedo a lo inevitable, a morir de manera ridícula o sin sentido por situaciones de nuestra cotidianidad, que no podemos controlar, y esa factibilidad es el Terror que nos muestra DESTINO FINAL cada una de sus entregas, y las he amado aunque confieso que tengo alguna más preferida que otras.
The sixth installment of the FINAL DESTINATION saga, BLOOD TIES, is currently available in theaters. It follows the same premise: a person has a vivid and horrifying premonition of a catastrophe, and this vision allows them to save themselves and others. But having cheated DEATH, the survivors are cursed in a way, as DEATH, an invisible and imminent force, seeks each of them out to take them away through everyday accidents.
Actualmente tenemos disponible en cines la sexta entrega de la saga DESTINO FINAL llamada LAZOS DE SANGRE, con la misma premisa de siempre, una persona tiene una premonición vivida y horrible de una catástrofe, y ésta visión le permite salvarse a sí misma y a otras personas más. Pero al haber burlado a la MUERTE, los sobrevivientes tienen una especie de maldición, ya que la MUERTE como una fuerza invisible e inminente los busca a cada uno para llevárselos, mediante accidentes en su cotidianidad.
FINAL DESTINATION - BLOODLINES presented us with an original or different twist on the previous ones, as the Premonition of a Catastrophe at a Tower inauguration comes to us in the present day as a recurring dream for a girl named Stefani, who wasn't present at the event, but her grandmother, Iris, was during the 1960s. Iris was saved by having the Premonition and has since lived locked away and completely isolated, trying to outwit DEATH.
Grandmother Iris tells her everything she has researched about DEATH, its patterns, signs, how it acts and pursues its victims. Iris dies in front of Stefani after that conversation, and now Death will seek out her entire family—family that shouldn't have been born, because her grandmother should have died in the catastrophe without having any offspring.
DESTINO FINAL - LAZOS DE SANGRE, nos presentó una variante original o diferente a las anteriores, ya que la Premonición de una Catástrofe en una inauguración de una Torre, llega en la actualidad como un sueño recurrente a una chica llamada Stefani, que no estuvo en el acontecimiento, sino su abuela llamada Iris, durante los años 60´s. Iris se salvó por haber tenido la Premonición y desde entonces ha vivido encerrada y completamente aislada tratando de burlar a la MUERTE.
La abuela Iris le cuenta todo lo que ha investigado sobre la MUERTE, sus patrones, señales, cómo actúa y persigue en orden a sus víctimas. Iris muere frente a Stefani luego de esa conversación y ahora la muerte buscará a toda su familia, familia que no debió haber nacido, porque su abuela debió haber muerto en la catástrofe sin tener descendencia.
As I mentioned, this new installment of the Final Destination Saga follows the premise of the previous ones, but gives it a different context by dealing with a family, a family that unites some and separates others—in other words, a family with normal problems, and you can empathize with several of them to the point of wanting them to be saved. We don't have the typical dumb blondes making stupid decisions, and I liked that.
Since it specifically deals with the members of a family who will be sought by DEATH, it adds a more fantastical touch to the story. This detail, in a way, made me feel a little more relieved to feel the terror of these accidents that can happen to any of us in real life, because it makes it more unreal and a little less feasible. So I enjoyed the film much more for that fact. It's no longer about a group of people in a car line or on an amusement park ride, who are not to blame for simply being there, but this new context is more distant. so in some way that I don't think I can fully explain, it made me enjoy the movie more.
Como mencioné ésta nueva entrega de la Saga de Destino Final, sigue con la premisa de las anteriores, pero le da un contexto diferente al tratarse de una familia, una familia que tiene la unión de algunos y la separación de otros, es decir una familia con problemas normales, y uno logra empatizar con varios de ellos al punto de querer que se salven. No tenemos a las típicas rubias tontas tomando decisiones estúpidas, y eso me gustó.
Al tratarse específicamente de los miembros de una familia los que serán buscados por la MUERTE, le añade un toque más fantástico esta la historia, y este detalle de cierta forma hizo que me sintiera un poco más aliviada de sentir el Terror de esos accidentes le pueden pasar al cualquiera de nosotros en la vida real, porque lo hace más irreal y un poco menos factible; así que disfruté mucho más la película por ese hecho. Ya no se trata de un grupo de personas en una cola de carros o en un juego de parque de diversiones, que no tienen la culpa de simplemente estar ahí, sino que este nuevo contexto es más lejano; por lo que de alguna forma que creo no logro explicar bien, hizo que disfrutara más la película.
The Deaths: The most anticipated scenes were the death scenes, which were very original; they weren't repetitive or recycled. They had a lot of gore, and each one took its time to make us suffer more. This was incredibly good. Now, in addition to being forever afraid of riding behind a truck full of tree trunks (which happens very often in the city where I live), I've now also unlocked the lifelong fear of MRIs... Thank you, Final Destination.
The Performances: Each character was played very well, and they seemed very natural in their reactions, desperation, and the tension they experienced.
The context of Final Destination - Family Ties—the dynamic of family members, with unresolved issues, distance, and the need to help each other—was moving at times, and I think it was just right for a horror film.
Las Muertes: Lo más esperado que son las escenas que contenían las muertes fueron muy originales, no fuero repetitivas ni recicladas, tuvieron mucho gore y se cada una se tomó el tiempo para hacernos sufrir más, esto fue increíblemente bueno. Ahora, además de temer de por vida a viajar detrás de una camión lleno de troncos de árboles (lo que pasa muy seguido en la ciudad donde vivo), pues ahora también he desbloqueado temer de por vida a las cámaras de resonancia magnética... Las Actuaciones: Cada personaje fue interpretado muy bien, y se vieron muy naturales en sus reacciones, desesperación y la tensión que vivían.
El contexto de Destino Final - Lazos de Familia esa dinámica de los miembros de una familia, con problemas por resolver, distancias y la necesidad de ayudarse, fue conmovedora en varios momentos, y pienso que en su justa medida para haber sido una película del género Terror.
- Although I liked the deaths, I really liked them, I think that for a next installment they should tone down the grotesqueness and excess gore a bit, I think a more realistic touch would make it more frightening by making each death more feasible. But I say this only because I'm a bit crafty and always say something that I possibly would have liked to be different, but in reality I did enjoy the absurdity and unpleasantness of the deaths.
- Aunque las muertes me gustaron, en serio me gustaron, creo que para una siguiente entrega ya deberían de bajarle un poco a lo grotesco y exceso de gore, creo que un toque más realista lo haría más temible al ser más factible cada muerte. Pero esto solo lo digo por ser algo mañosa y siempre decir algo que posiblemente me hubiese gustado que fuese de otra forma, pero en realidad si disfrute lo absurdo y desagradable de las muertes.
Of course I recommend it, you can enjoy it even if you haven't seen the previous installments, but if you have seen the other Final Destination movies, you will enjoy even more some of the winks that it has given to us fans and that I really liked.
Claro que la recomiendo, puedes disfrutarla aún sino has visto las anteriores entregas, pero si es el caso de que has visto las otras películas de Destino Final disfrutarás aún más algunos guiños que nos ha regalado a los fanáticos y que me gustaron muchísimo.
